So, you have to stop in; we had a waiter who doubled as the bartender cuz the team was short staffed the night we came in and he was great... he kept all of his tables, the bar, and the drinks coming. Cheese curds were delivered promptly when the last person in our party arrived. Try the chopped salad.... we split it and a pizza and we're stuffed as the mushrooms! Yum... the crust was wonderful: crispy and chewy, with a few tasty dark toasted spots that we fought over. My husband told me he wanted spaghetti tonight when it was too late to cook it. He told me to look on line and find an Italian restaurant and place an order. I found Amici's and the menu looked good. I called and ordered spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce because he doesn't like marinara and I ordered clams linguini with white sauce. $40.50 and it was the worse meal we have ever eaten. In fact he didn't eat the spaghetti. I ate mine but it was not white sauce, It was like alfredo sauce. The hostess did not make a good impression. She seemed annoyed when we asked to be moved to another table because the table we were sat at in the corner was directly under an AC vent that was pumping some pretty chilly air. Daughter called in and placed an order on SATURDAY for pickup on SUNDAY. Call FIRTS THING Sunday morning to confirm order and everything was set and confirmed. Went to pick up order and they "ran out of one of the item sometime in the morning. How can you possibly run out of something for an order that has already been placed and confirmed? Wouldn't you put aside what you need for orders already placed? That would be good business. And then, when we arrive, offer my daughter 2 pieces of cake to make up for 8 items you couldn't provide. Hostess that helped my daughter was awesome...only thing that kept this from being 1 star. Have been to this restaurant more than 100 times and never had a complaint. Took two business associates there for dinner and the service and the kitchen were not on same page. The appetizer came the same time as two of the entrees, and the third entree arrived 20 minutes later!! Not Good. Expressed my displeasure when paying bill and response was it not our fault. People can talk about Benny whatevers in Norfolk with the giant clown slices, but if you want a serious pie, look no further than this charming little spot in downtown Suffolk. I truly hope the owner reads this. I went there on July 4th at 130 for lunch. There was not another soul in the resturant but the greeter attempted to seat myself and my 6'2" partner at the smallest table in the corner. We asked for a different table and the waitress' eyeroll was remarkable. We moved to a central table and the reason they attempted to put us in the corner was quickly evident. The two waitreses were having a party with the guy in the back. He looked homeless and I believe he was the cook. The girls were dressed unprofessionally in short shorts and I dont want a guy who looks homeless making my food. They basically ignored us and carried on with their shenanigans. We got up and walked out. No attempt was made to stop or accommodate us. We did notice unbussed tables (2) and the table we sat at was sticky. I cannot comment on the food because you did not present an establishment I wanted to eat at. Poor service, underpar cleanliness, and rudeness....yep, I will never return. read more

From the RW menu, I ordered meatballs with garlic bread for an appetizer, pepperoni pizza as the main course and New York-style cheesecake for dessert. I think the only reason this place has such good reviews is because of what you have to compare this to in the area. I got the lasagna and it was alright. I had different kinds of meat which made it interesting but the cheese wasn't really melted all the way and the red sauce is mediocre. If you are an Italian restaurant and can't get the red sauce down, yikes. Again, the choices around are terrible so yeah this is a step up but does not deserve more than 3 stars. Visited this establishment with the in-laws while visiting Suffolk, VA. Pizza, pasta and other Italian specialties is their forte. Their 10" inch pizzas appear to be much bigger than that and look delicious. I opted for some pasta and it was good. The service was stellar and I was highly impressed that they were able to get 10 hot meals out at the same time. Not all restaurants have that kind of timing. They also have an extensive beer menu - which I really appreciate. Most of the beer is bottled, but they had some very good choices on tap. I do not visit the area all that often, but I will stop in when I am there. Sister-in-law and her husband live about 3 minutes walk away. Hard to resist that. read more

What I found pretty tasty were their homemade potato chips which came with their submarines. That was the best part of our lunch. This place does have a plethora of beers on hand, and rustic decor. After reading the reviews I was excited to try this restaurant. Unfortunately it did not live up to the reviews or maybe the way they season the food is just not for me. I had the meatballs as an appetizer, at $9 they are a bit pricey. For that price I expected a more juicy flavorful meatball, sorry but no. It was dry and tasteless, I've had better frozen meatballs. Ok swing and miss on the first effort. Next I had the margharita pizza, good looking pie but zero taste . Strike 2. Honestly California kitchens frozen margharita pizza has more flavor. The wait staff was ok, one of the waitresses was good the other seemed a bit preoccupied. Like she had somewhere else she wanted to be. On the positive side they do have Stella on draft, that in itself was the highlight of my dinning experience . For our first "A" restaurant we decided on Amici's Pizza in Suffolk. Jimmy is a big fan of Italian and it has scored lots of good reviews online, so it seemed a good place to start. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. You can see the woodfire pizza oven when you walk in, which I liked. It has a cute little patio, but since it was January we didn't go that route. We got there around 6 and had no trouble getting in, but by the time we left it was hopping. They have a large selection of beers, as well as wine and martinis. We started with the meatball appetizer off of recommendations I read online. They were delicious! It's something neither one of us would have ordered, but we were glad we did. Jimmy ordered the lasagna which was large and yummy. There was lots and lots of cheese which is always a plus. Whoever is a friend of cheese is a friend of mine. I ordered the magic mushroom pizza. There were lots of real mushrooms and cheese and the crust was delicious. However it had a balsamic vinegar sauce drizzled over it which I was not a fan of. The waitress said people either love it or hate it, usually based on that sauce. If you're not sure if you're a fan, you might ask for it on the side.
