    12" Italian

Imma dive right in and say this place is freaking great. First off, my friend and I didn't even plan to go here. The brewery next door that we planned to go to was closed, but we saw people sitting outside of University Pizza so we said yolo. We walked in and the man working was welcoming and cool. Told us what's popular there (pizza and subs) and let us sample our beers before getting them. We got the appetizer sampler (choose 3 things) and a 12" italian. Lemme tell you, alllll that shiz shmacked! Starting with the appetizer, loaded fries were awesome, meatballs were nice and hearty, and as a self proclaimed chicken tender connoisseur, I was impressed. The Italian sub was toasty and delicious. It was all splendid.

This is a top five 757 pizza spot in my opinion. They serve a really good thin pizza, with a tasty sauce and plenty of cheese. Not really NY style, other than in appearance, but really good. The crust is tasty and crisp without being brittle, and is brushed with oil and sprinkped with garlic and herbs. A really good pie overall, a nice local creation. Its located just a few blocks from ODU, so its a great pregame meal before cheering on the Monarchs. Its easily walkable from either the Ted or Foreman Field. Granted, the interior is esentially a college bar, so if you don't like that atmosphere, I suggest takeout. That being said, it is a friendly, welcoming spot. U-pie is definitely recommended!

Saturday evening we had a little shindig and when it came time to eat everyone wanted pizza. Not factory pizza from one of those delivery places, no we wanted real mom & pop pizza. We decided to go to University Pizza over on Colley. It's been a couple of months since I was last here and this evening we had 8 people in total. No problem at all there's plenty of seating inside and out front under the canopy. One of the things I really like about U.P. is it has a really good neighborhood vibe to it. You get an even mix of the local residents and college students. My part of the group had the family special which was a large one topping pizza and a huge salad bowl that's probably large enough to serve 4 people. Their large is easily the size of extra large pizza at most places, yet it's a thin NYC style pie. For beer aficionados they have many micro brews in the case as well. In the back there's a pool table you can pass the time on while waiting for your pie, daily specials, large screen TVs and a full bar. You could call it a Pizza Pub. Check them out if you're down by ODU.

My last night in Norfolk before I left for a new job. Spent it enjoying UPie with my best friends.

College drinking spot. That's about all it is for me. Sometimes I get a slice if I've had a few drinks. The staff is super friendly and kind. They don't mind if people get a little rowdy. Fun joint with a nice outdoor area. I spend a fortune on that pool table.... I recommend for drinks only. For pizza, go to Del Vech's.

I usually go here whenever I'm in town to grab a beer. I've also ordered the pizza. It's not a thin slice like the ones I like in NY, but it's also not super doughy, which I find in other cities. It's a little off the beaten path since it's not near ODU. I like coming here, because it's a good mix of college students and townies. Even when it's busy, it's not crowded.

Came here on a Tuesday night and i promise you it was the worst service. The place was empty, and it took over 30 minutes to get our CHEESE FRIES. I tried to get the TWO bartenders attention for at least 10 minutes to get another beer and they were too busy flirting with guys at the other end of the bar. The food finally came out and looked like they microwaved it / something i could have made at home. Not sure if i will come back here just based off this experience.

So we ordered the spicy pepperoni that many reviewers mentioned. Glad we did. When we arrived, we saw the front parking to be full. Fortunately, I looked at the Google Maps aerial view and saw the parking lot behind the pizzeria. We accessed the lot via an alleyway just past the pizzeria. The pizzeria is small. Has some seating but is more suited for takeaway orders. We got the pizza to go. When we opened the box, we were pleasantly surprised by how big the pizza was. Each of the six slices was about the size of some personal pizzas. The sauce & pepperonis were nice & spicy. The pizza was dotted with dabs of creamy ricotta cheese. Nice counterpoint to the spiciness. Fresh basil leaves added some flavour and looks. The crust was thin and delicious. Well worth the $22 price. We'll come back for the pizza whenever we're in Norfolk.

It was good but we thought there was too much bread. The pizza was topped with garlic oil, lo mo, provolone, salami, capicolo, purple onions, oregano, banana peppers, pesto, and red wine vinegar. It was good and we bought two slices home with us. The best pie, however, in our opinion is the 5 star spicy pepperoni which we normally order. None can compare. Service is consistently good and we always thoroughly enjoy sitting at the end of the counter and watching the carryout customers come and go while we savor our pizza and Mexican beer.

They earned bonus points from me because the bar also had purse hooks. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Several checked on us or delivered items during our visit. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, and a three cheese pizza for lunch. The meatballs were good, they weren't amazing, but they're good. I expected them to be a little larger, but they were hot and had lots of sauce to dip our bread in. The pizza was what we came for, and it did not disappoint. The crust was chewy and a bit charred on the bottom. It was not oily at all. Which I absolutely love. The ingredients were fresh, and it came out in a timely manner. They had a large variety of drinks, but all of them were in cans in a cooler. They also provide a pitcher of water at your table. The slices here are HUGE--like, you need two plates just to hold one. It's super filling and definitely worth the price (usually around $5 for a cheese slice, a little more for toppings). I'm not normally a thin crust person, but their thin crust is actually really good. The cheese is flavorful, the crust has a great texture, and even a plain slice hits. That said, I'd definitely recommend trying one of their specialty slices too. The shop itself is pretty small with limited seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. During lunch rush, it can get packed, but service is usually quick and the staff has always been friendly in my experience. They also have extras like Parmesan and peppers so you can dress up your slice however you like. Overall, if you're in downtown Norfolk and want a solid, no-frills pizza spot with massive slices, this is definitely the place to go.

This is THE spot for locals in the Portsmouth area. It's no surprise you see reviews from patrons who drive from all over the Hampton Roads area to visit this gem! Service is so friendly and you can tell it is a TEAM! I sat at the bar so got to watch the open kitchen in action. Their system is down pat and you can tell everyone enjoys working with each other. Each dish I watched from prep to service was handled with meticulous care. PRIDE IN WORK AT ITS FINEST! Everyone works to serve you as a team as well, no worry about "bothering" another member of the staff for something, everyone wants you to enjoy your meal. I can tell there are a lot of local regulars as the staff was engaged on a level you only see when your clientele is consistent and have a vested interest in the success of the business. I've been to 16 countries and travelled all over the states, this is truly one of the most friendly establishments I've had the pleasure of being hosted at. On to the food! I see a few people complain about the small menu, that is the SMARTEST thing a business can do. Focus on what you're good at and demolish the competition. High Street Pizza and Pour delivers on this. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I ordered the meatballs, the special for their pizza pie of the night (a pork belly, red onion, jalapeño, bbq drizzle dream boat of a pie), a tiramisu and two cocktails. The food in pictures looked smaller than in person... omg I ordered for about 4-5 people! But everyone was soooo good. Meatballs were tender with a fantastic red sauce. Pizza had a crispy buttery crust and the pork belly was rendered perfectly. Tiramisu was fantastic (not sure if that's an in house make or pre done, but it was on point), and the cocktails were perfectly poured with just the right amount of liquor. I left with probably two meals worth of takeout the portions were so large and I can't wait until I'm hungry again. I'm new to the neighborhood and as everyone knows, you need to find your fav local spot to frequent. I'm proud to report, High Street Pizza and Pour House has just taken that spot!
