It's inexpensive. That's one thing I usually expect from Mexican food. Food tastes ok. Service is mediocre. Was hard to enjoy the food after seeing the dirty bathrooms. Just kept thinking if the public bathrooms look this gross what's going on behind the scenes. read more

Great place for real Mexican Food. Food was excellent and everybody cleaned their plates. Amazingly reasonable and with all fresh quality ingredients. You will not find better in Springfield or most any other city for that matter. Heard the service wasn't that great but was pleasantly surprised. Our server was good at keeping our drinks refilled. Great fresh prepared food does take a few minutes but then again that's why they serve complimentary chips and salsa (even gracious enough to refill). I will be back every chance I get! read more

This place gets four stars because it is my favorite cheap lunch place. Mexican day laborers eat here (that is a good signal that food is good and cheap). Service is friendly, the guy that brings the chips and salsa is very shy. My husband and I try to make him laugh (we've been trying for about two years) he finally cracked and said his first word to us last month. Everyone else there is much more outgoing. The flavor may not be the best, but it DOES beat mexican villa hands down, and it's cheap. read more

Taco Tuesdays are the best. Even though one of the waitresses is in my opinion rude everyone else is exceptionally friendly and between them and the awesome food and low prices it more than makes up for her abrasive personality. We eat here about 3 times a month. read more

One of my favorite places to grab a meal. Freshly made salsa, yummy chips, excellent quesadillas, overall delicious cheap Mexican food. Restaurant is small so expect a bit of a wait on a Friday or Saturday night, but they'll get you seated and served fast! read more

Waitress was great. Margarita was incredibly sweet and artificial as it could be. Couldn't drink it. Salsa was bland and probably outed out of another bottle. Carnitas tacos were decent, but huge chunks of pork, which was soggy and not crispy as it should be. But....waitress was great. read more

Good little hole in the wall Mexican place that delivers great food. I got the Burrito Deluxe and my fiancé got the Amigos Special. Both were very good and full of flavor. When we came in there was a party of 25 ahead of us so service was a little slow, but it was understandable. Could have used another waiter to help out the 2 that were there. read more

From the outside and frankly on the inside it doesn't look like much but the food is fast, decent, and cheap.

There were many problems with my visit last night. First, it was the worst service ever. I didn't get a refill the entire time I was there and had my first glass gone before my meal came out. Second thing that was bad is when you order cheese dip to eat with your chips you expect to get it at least 10 mins before your meal. So when you get your cheese dip then your meal 1 min later it sucks. Lastly, the food was very plain. It had just a plain flavor. I went here because of the great reviews on yelp but this place sucked. read more

As a midwesterner, born and raised, I can attest very little to the experience of a truly authentic Mexican joint, but I will say that this is my favorite place in town. The service, food, and portions are always right on point. They have an absolutely fantastic hot salsa, if you remember to request it. Would like to see a bike rack put in, though it seems somewhat unlikely within the absolutely packed parking lot that seems to be the norm. read more

The food here tastes great, the portion sizes are awesome especially for how cheap it is. This place is the least "watered down" or "Americanized" Mexican I have found. The service is great, very friendly. The only down side is parking and dinning room space is very cramped, but even for being a big guy I haven't been bothered by it yet. read more

I have been coming here since 2005, and cannot ever turn it down! I'm a bit non-trditional about salsa, preferring mild, heavy on the tomato flavour; loads of cilantro, and no chunks or veggies. Perfect salsa here for me. They also have a hot salsa you can ask for, which the hubby loves, but is too mean for my liking. They do feature my favourite hot sauce (Valentina's, which is cumin-heavy, and low on vinegar) on the table if I feel like heating anything up. The chips are thick white corn, always served warm and fresh. The chille rellanos are truly a thing a beauty. Perfectly roasted poblanos with no egg batter, full of white, gooey cheese, topped with a delicious haevily flavoured ranchera sauce and more white cheese. (I like mine without the extra cheese on top) I have yet to find their rival in any state I've visited! Try the spicy pork tacos if you're in the mood for hot. Anything with pork or chicken here is guaranteed to be packed with herbs and spices. I tend not to go for beef at Mexican eateries, so I don't have a good review of that. Huge portions and very cheap prices are a great incentive, but it's all about the flavour here at Amigo's. read more

My experience at Amigos was perhaps the worst dining experience I've had anywhere, ever. We walked in and were not greeted. We stood around for a minute, making eye contact with several employees, and were not greeted or even acknowledged. We finally just sat down somewhere, and waited a good ten minutes before anyone came to check on us. My friend and I ordered tacos, and were both treated poorly initially by the server. She was very short with us and did not make us feel welcome. When the food came out (30 minutes later; it wasn't even busy, this was at 3pm) the tacos contained literally meat and onions. that was it. no lettuce, no cheese, just meat and onions. My friend misunderstood the menu and when she asked the server about it, the server got very frustrated and was not willing to fix the mistake peaceably. she left the unwanted tacos on the table and disappeared, and then came back and literally confronted my friend about the mistake, making us feel very uncomfortable. We left money on the table and walked out. Didn't even stay to get the order fixed. two stars ONLY because the salsa was pretty tasty. One star dining experience for sure. go to Purple Burrito down the street, the staff is really nice and the food is on point. read more
