Must be a contender for best restaurant in Gaberville. Came here for lunch while biking through the Redwoods. Got the Chinese chicken salad, steak sandwich, and a homemade rice krispie treat. It was all very tasty and the servings were big. Yes, it is also pricey but I think the quality of the food justifies the San Francisco price point. Amillias is an elegant and well-appointed establishment in, of all places, Garberville, CA. we spend the night in Garberville on our coast highway road trip into california. i could not believe how pretty Amillias was when i walked in, because Garberville reminded me of downtown seattle, pioneer square in terms of homeless and street people. there used to be so much money here.... first, some local history to support my rating. Garberville used to have A LOT of local money mostly based on humboldt county marijuana business. when marijuana was legalized, the local businesses were over-taken by the big producers. that meant local businesses were pushed out and local money dried up. out of town big biz sucked the money out of the town. i am sure you know exactly what i am talking about. Amillia's menu was surprisingly eclectic but so, very limited. no appetizers and no desserts. burgers, fajitas, pulled pork sandwiches, tacos, handmade linguini and ravioli all shared the same menu. no steaks. knowing the history of Garberville, it's obvious the menu was intended to cover lunch and dinner in one fell swoop. i wished there were more dinner-style offerings because Amillia's is open only for dinner. i am sure price matters now. we settled on the italian offerings of meat filled ravioli and handmade linguini and meatballs. the ravioli was tender and fresh. the linguini was truly homemade. the meatballs were soft, tender and well-seasoned. for me, there was too much linguini v. meatballs, but it was all delicious. the restaurant interior was gorgeous with perfect mood lighting. the service was attentive. i left much of the linguini on the plate because i am not a huge pasta eater. i over-heard a concern from the front about the food left on the plate. i am glad i told the server why i left so much pasta. let me repeat myself: the restaurant was gorgeous. the service was above reproach. the italian offerings we had were delicious. i would bet the other offerings would be on equal par with the italian entrees quality. if you are in Garberville for any reason for an overnight stay, do seek out Amillia's. 5 stars for hanging in there and standing your ground with good food and lovely presentation. highly recommended read more

I also love so many of their lunch items and their GF donuts and lemon bars and everything are the only organic treats in town, not to mention so delicious. Best espresso and chai tea around as well! My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on our road trip down the coast and could not have been happier. The service was friendly and fast, the food was delicious, and I felt like the prices were a steal for the food that we received. He had the chicken gravy and biscuits and I had the bacon-crusted french toast. Both were very delicious, satisfying, and arrived quickly. No crumbs were left behind. None of the staff, even the chef, were wearing masks. When questioned the hostess was extremely rude and sarcastic. She tried excusing the chef not wearing a mask or gloves with an illegitimate claim of "he's standing under the exit vent and it's sucking all the air up" she then sealed the effing deal with "no they're not required to wear masks." it's very transparent this business does not care about public safety and should be shut down. read more

Let me start by saying our waitress was perfect; attentive and friendly. The one star comes in the quality of food. We started off with the "organic beet salad" , it may have been organic but those beets were definitely from a can. I actually like canned beets, but its not what you would expect for a $10 salad. I had the grilled chicken fettuccine, it lacked salt and was bland- something I'd expect from a Chili's. My boyfriend had the special of chicken cacciatore ($29)he wasn't impressed either for the price. It's not that the food was HORRIBLE, it's that it's horribly overpriced for the quality. As a frequent visitor to the Garberville area, I am always surprised by the lack of good restaurants serving dinner in town. So I was thrilled to hear that Amilllia's, one of my fave lunch places, had started serving dinner a few days per week. The restaurant is downstairs from the bakery/to-go lunch counter and is in a large and soothingly decorated space, with deep colors and nice artwork. The servers are friendly and professional, and the entire vibe of the space is welcoming. I began my meal with the beet salad, and thoroughly enjoyed the local beets and cheese in this dish. The appetizer special was Asian Meatballs served over asian slaw - very savory and a nice-sized portion. For a main dish I tried the filet. Whatever butter mixture that was served over it was amazing! It melted in your mouth! For dessert, my companion and I shared the strawberry shortcake, made with a house-made sweet biscuit, local organic strawberries and the whipped cream that Amillias uses in their famous cakes-yummy! On our annual trip up to Benbow inn we have enjoyed dining at the Benbow and at Cecil's, but now have found another gem here in Garberville...Amelia's, which we found on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We're sure glad we did! They only serve dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, and do accept reservations. The decor is bright and modern. The waitstaff were attentive and nice. Soup, clam chowder was hearty, but had a delicate balance, it was excellent. Entrees were outstanding and beautifully plated. We had the cinnamon pork loin wrapped in bacon, sided with the most delicious light sweet potato mash. Also ordered the evening special--rock cod with a beurre blanc sauce, sided with white and black rice. Nice touch. Topped it all off with dessert, brownie sundae and pumpkin cake. We also enjoyed meeting Beth, the owner of Amelia's. She treated us exceptionally well, we appreciated our experience here and will be back to dine when we are in town. read more
