Hey Northern Cali folks! We were on our way home from an epic fourth of july camping trip at the Redwoods River Resort in Leggett, and needed some nourishment to get us back home to Marin. Our daughter Yelped us to Friends, and boy am I glad they did. Their breakfast burrito was so good I wolfed it down in about a minute while my family watched in abject horror - I guess it looked like I was devouring something I don't know what. My wife's wrap was HUGE! and delicious. How do I know? she could only get half of it down, I had the other half for breakfast today and it was still great after being reheated in the microwave! The staff was very very friendly - clearly there were a lot of regulars they knew on sight and were working with along with the transients (of whom there were many) - but everyone got a smile, a warm greeting, and the attention that made you think you were their only customer, ever. Bagels were authentic, coffee was hot and NOT bitter, and the dogs kept trying to get into our food, so even our critics loved the meals ;) Thanks, we'll see you next summer when we come back to camp! read more

Stopped here for a quick bite while road-tripping California. We were greeted by one of the employees who was super nice. I ordered the a veggie lover and I can't say enough about the veggies. All of the veggies were fresh and crisp, the bread was crunchy and delicious. They may not have a kids menu, but for a decent price they made my son a delicious grilled cheese on sourdough which he gobbled up. The prices were great and the food better than many sit down restaurants. We will be stopping here next time we drive through Laytonville. read more

We travel the 101 several times a week during softball season. Always looking for hidden gems. Found one!! Breakfast burrito was killer! Cooked to order, no made ahead microwaved food here! The coolers are stocked with different beverages from lots of local and true northern california breweries and vineyards. The exterior doesn't really stand out or even catch your eye, we almost missed it but so glad we found this mom & pop place! We will make it one of our places. read more

Responding to Chuck d review. He is really full of dooky, and makes no sense. It's more likely he tried to flirt with the amazing lady's that work there and was shot down like a dead bird. If you are driving through our town and have the chance to stop at this store. 95% of your options are organic. Wine selection is great, beer is always cold, food is awesome and if you do not like your sandwich. They are more than willing to make you another. * Never been charged to toast store bought bread. read more

This is not really a coffee house. And we are not really friends. We stopped at Friends hoping the sandwich shop would boast a bathroom, and I could get some lunch but alas this liquor store - not a coffee house - had none. The space was more like a gas station mini mart or liquor store which just so happened to make sandwiches. But it is definitely NOT a coffee house. The service was okay. Not overly friendly and fairly lazy as they did not take verbal orders and made me write my three lines on a slip of paper I had to practically push in front of them. The cap was when I had to pay on the liquor side of the facility - and did not receive a receipt. Yep, this is totally a real store. Totally. The sandwich was good, but I was also fairly desperate. Park-N-Takit Liquor Store is a low end deli with incompetent minimum wage employees that seem to be making it up as they go along. I asked them if they had hard sourdough rolls. They said oh yes we do. Then I asked if I could get my bread toasted... They said yes no problem that will be one dollar to toast your bread. I refused to pay a dollar to get my bread toasted. I eventually got my sandwich and the bread was incredibly mushy and of the sort that is low end French rolls you can buy in imagine that a liquor store. The additional items in this deli/liquor store are very sparse, don't expect your kettle chips. Make sure you have cash because it's another $.50 if you want to use an ATM card. Only place where a Heart attack is a good thing! You gotta try the Heart attack sandwich it's to die for...also good place to stock up your cooler also liquor, lotto, smokes and snacks.
