We ate here for lunch because the reviews of this place were so good and I can see why now! I had the veggie burrito bowl, basically a veggie burrito without the tortilla. It came with a side of sour cream and salsa made in house. The food portion was generous in size and the food tasted very fresh and flavorful. I loved the house made salsa. The service was great! Most places in Shelter Cove are very self serve. By that I mean you order at the front and then clear your plates at the end. Our food came out shortly after we ordered it. It's a relaxed ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating overlooks the ocean. This place has amazing views, food, and service! Highly recommend when in the area for breakfast or lunch.

This little gem was the highlight of our trip to Black Sands. Ok, it was the second highlight after having coffee with seals. Fabulous coffee, quick service, and great food. The place is adorable, and that VIEW!!!!! Wish every morning started like this! Do it!

What more does a small town need other than a brewery, a restaurant, and an amazing coffee shop? Surf Point Coffee served the most amazing breakfast we could ask for. The views were amazing, and the eggs benedict were top notch! We're kind of snobs when it comes to eggs benny and we agreed, this one was towards the top of our list! The coffee is freshly brewed and you know we also had to try a mocha. We stopped in again our second day for more coffee and this time a cinnamon roll. We also loved looking at the local artist goods available. This is just such an amazing stop and a great place to start the day.

Although this was approximately our eighth trip to Shelter Cove, we had never tried Surf Point Cafe. Very cozy atmosphere, upscale but not pretentious. As close to the ocean as you can get without being in it! Excellent avocado toast for Anna, wonderful French toast for me! And when we went back, Anna got an eggs Benedict and I got their house-made cinnamon crunch cereal with blueberries aplenty. Their coffee is also most flavorful, with the heavy whipping cream we like so much (lesser places have only half and half.)I'm not a Benedict guy, but that hollandaise sauce and those potatoes...wow!

Great spot for coffee, breakfast, and the ocean. I've had breakfast here a few times but have not tried the lunch. On a sunny day it's great to chill on the patio. Friendly folks serve and we always like the art and local items for sale. Stop by!

Cozy atmosphere right on the water, delicious food, but what sets it apart is the service. My partner ordered the blue pea lavender latte and it came out kind of bland, but still good. Without saying anything, the owner noticed the color of the drink was not right and promptly made her a new one. Very thoughtful and sweet. We will definitely be back when we return to Shelter Cove.

Such an amazing addition to the cove!!! The staff are the sweetest, the drinks are amazing. All of that could be horrible, but the view that they have, I'd still come back everyday. They turned a small town spot into something you'd see of a much larger city. There is even local art work from locals to buy. Surf Point checks all the boxes. If you're in town- it's a must visit!!!

Cute place right on the water, with a beautiful view! Great looking pastries, but we had the avocado toast which was delicious. The coffee was okay, but it's not the focus here. Prices were very reasonable considering the remote location. A great go-to for breakfast or brunch with an oceanfront view.

Love this spot. I wish I were local, I would come here all the time. Food was delicious with an incredible menu selection, and the BEST part is the VIEWS. Nothing better than drinking your morning cup of coffee and eating breakfast/lunch with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean. Staff were super friendly, and can't recommend it enough. A little but on the pricey side, but totally expected for location/tourist spot and definitely worth it.

Cute & inviting cafe right on the ocean. The seals and sea birds hang out on the rocks. Both indoor and outdoor seating allow you to full take in the view. Unfortunately the potatoes were soggy in my breakfast burrito but the eggs were right on. The little cluster of grapes were wonderful - homegrown and full of flavor! Husband liked his breakfast sandwich very much. I thought the coffee was weak; I had an Americano.

This was my first time to Shelter Cove, and Black Sands Bistro was my first place to try food at. I wasn't expecting much. But I must say, we were very pleasantly surprised! I got a cheeseburger for $17 and being that it was a tourist town, expected a small, generic McDonald's type hamburger. But it was good sized, not preformed patties, with 3 slices of tomato and generous helping of lettuce and it was juicy and very good. They gave a nice selection of baked desserts (all $5) and they are large servings and not the generic baked items you find in every other aery in California. We got the German Chocolate Cake and it was quite good. I got coffee, too and it was better than average. While not cheap, it did seem to be one of the less expensive options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If we go back to Shelter Cove, this will be the place we always go to.

The entryway is a hall that goes past a miniature kitchen (barely big enough to be called a kitchen). The enclosed porch has two tables. the exterior deck room for three or four, and across from the cooking area and cash register is another table tucked in the corner. With very little there, they make quite a serviceable breakfast, and at times, they are the only choice in Shelter Cove, so they are well worth considering. They are very small, so if there's a crowd, it could be a while before they can get to you. I really enjoyed my breakfast, and the people were very nice (both customers and staff). Be sure to look on the corner of the building, or you might miss it altogether.

When we entered we were told to grab a menu and seat ourselves. Well, we sat and we sat. I finally went inside and asked for service. I was told that we had to use the QR code. I hadn't noticed it on the other end of the table. One friend's phone wasn't set up for that, another's phone was in the car and the other said that she is 80. I figured I could do it for the group. However, ordering drinks was time consuming and we wanted to get our order in. When we got our food, there were 2 orders for shrimp tacos. I thought I ordered the rockfish tacos as they were the only tacos listed on the menu. Luckily they weren't allergic to shellfish because the deliverer was not taking them back or taking our drink order. My clam chowder was not hot and very salty. I didn't realize that my friend at our table brought us water. I didn't know that she filled them herself or I would have gone in to refill as I had nothing to drink with my soup How do you tip when there is no service? What about the 5 reviews? Did they get any service? To sum up we got our own menus and water, we found our own seats and waited for ages before I went in to ask to order. Then I was told I had to order for the group with the QR code. Never having done it before I mistakenly ordered the wrong item. My fault. We never had any service interaction. Who do you even tip. (Note : we did leave a tip). Going to a fun restaurant involves interacting with the staff. In fact I didn't order what I wanted because I had a question.
