I thought this was a reasonable value and we had such a great time. Keep in mind, this is was you make of it . . . the more questions you ask, the more you will learn. We learned about politics in cheese, cheese thievery, under-appreciated cheeses that smell like gym socks, but taste like a dream. A very laid back and congenial environment. We definitely plan on returning to shop! And they have a "girl scout and cheese pairing" class every April that I can't wait to try next year! As far as people complaining about parking, not sure what they are talking about. There is a commercial parking lot out front and the first two hours are free.

I was excited to see the shop and was very interested in purchasing some cheese. My husband and I drove 45 minutes from across town to visit the shop. It also happened to be the Friday after the large ice storm we recently had, so we were happy to be able to support a local business after they had to close for a few days due to the weather. Upon arriving, we parked in the garage and walked around for a good ten minutes trying to find the shop. There is no good signage to show you exactly where the shop is, and walking around in 25-degree weather trying to find it was frustrating and we almost left. We finally found it, and upon walking inside, it was a warm and inviting space. There were two employees in the shop/restaurant area - one was helping a customer at the register and the other was talking to a friend/customer from behind the cheese counter. We were looking at the wall of non-cheese items, which seemed like a nice selection of crackers, mustards, honeys, and other accompaniments you could purchase. We walked up to the cheese counter and started looking at the cheese in the refrigerated display. We went back and forth between picking up cheese to see what it was and patiently looking up to wait for someone to acknowledge/help us. While we stood there, another employee came out from the back of the restaurant to bring samples of cheese to the customer at the register and promptly went back into the kitchen. The friend/customer of the other employee left, and the second employee that had been behind the counter moved out into the restaurant and started wiping empty tables. At this point, we had probably been in the shop for a good ten minutes. None of the employees acknowledged we were there, not even to say they would be with us shortly or to offer a hello. At this point I was frustrated, so we left to go to the bathroom in the hallway and didn't go back in. I'm not sure if we weren't "hip" enough for them to even say hello to, if we didn't look the part or what, but being completely ignored in a tiny shop for over ten minutes was beyond rude. I was so excited to visit this shop, but the experience left a bad taste in our mouths. As they say, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression", so we will find other places to spend our money.

Dustin took us all over the farm to see the cows, pigs, chickens, and of course the goats! We learned all about the process of making goat dairy and goat dairy products. After you park, you check in under the big pavilion. It's nice and shady up there with plenty of tables and seating. This is a family business. Even the kids are involved! It really made us feel welcomed. The goat cheese itself was delish! You can purchase cheese to take home and it was the best on-the-road snack I could have chosen! Support local. Support families. Cheeses are also pretty good in variety and types, and they'll often have some cheeses and crackers available for tastings. If not, the staff is pretty knowledgeable on what they have to offer, so they can make great suggestions for wine and food pairings that meet your tastes and budget. I am already plotting my return ASAP. I stopped in on a weekday afternoon and had a truly memorable experience. The cheesemonger working at the counter was knowledgable and friendly, offering great suggestions based on my cheese preferences. He was able to answer every question I had, and even offered me samples of a few different varieties (all of which I ended up purchasing). My top find from this visit was the Clothbound Cabot. This was already one of my favorite cheesemakers, but I loved being introduced to something a little different that I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise. Her and her husband transplanted in Nashville a number of years ago from Massachusetts where they had a previous farm. At the Farmer's Market, they have a large number of cuts for sell along with different types of sheep's milk cheese! This is what I was sold on. She allows you to sample the cheese along with their different lamb jerkies. They do have award winning cheese that, of course, they had sold out of for the day when I was there. I was personally attracted to their garlic peppercorn cheese, I purchased their ground lamb and the peppercorn cheese to take home. I have never prepared lamb at home, so as a starter, I thought I would try something low key then work my way up to some of their other type cuts. They literally sell every part of the animal and for the pricing - you really get a decent deal. Please check out some of the photos I took. I really thought this was useful for someone who is not as informed about lamb cuts. It really helped me out and with that information, it helps me absorb what I hope to eat in the near future.
