Quaint little ice cream shop adjoining Pucketts in downtown Columbia, TN. Good selection of flavors...of which we only tried a few. So a return visit is in order. I ordered a Turtle Brownie Parfait and my traveling companion chose a Minty Chip Milkshake. Both had "wowie-zowie" flavors, big and bold. Problem with my Parfait was that 3/4 of the dish was brownie, not bad if you're looking for brownie with a small scoop of ice cream. (Yes, their menu says, "Brownie bits, vanilla ice cream, pecans, more brownie bits, salted caramel and hot fudge drizzle, vanilla whipped cream, amarena cherry.") But I thought it might have more ice cream. The vanilla in it was good...just give me more. Minty Chip waas very very minty....so pretty darn good...but we didn't finish it. Definitely worth a stop and taste and enjoy. We plan to do so again. read more

This was my first time inside this Hattie Jane's location, but I have been to many others before. The inside looked clean and bright, with the addition of a vintage soda bar counter display behind the ice cream coolers. The flavors are unique and change seasonly, ranging from Chocolatey Chocolate, Toasted Pineapple, and my favorite-- Nana Puddin'. The flavors and atmosphere were nice, but the service fell short greatly for me. Below are some pros and cons from my visit today. Pros: *The flavor and texture are pretty good at the price. You're getting a good amount of unique ice cream, from locally sourced ingredients. *This location offers samples prior to scooping. I did not get a sample; however, the family in front of us did. The amount seemed like a large sample scoop. *The inside of the creamery has a variety of seating from tables, booths, and bar stool seating. This was nice on such a hot summer day. Cons: *Service was very poor. There was only one worker when me and my two parents came. The young lady was very hostile and it seemed she was trying to get people in and out of her store as quickly as possible-- there was a lack of customer service or hospitality. *My mom asked for a waffle bowl of ice cream with a caramel topping. The worker was very rude and said toppings are only allowed on ice cream in cups, but no type of cone. Maybe this should be posted for customers to know or staff could relay this nicer. *They have a large wall behind the ice cream counter of daily and seasonal flavors. Unfortunately, they were out of many of these today. You can't see the actual case until it's your turn, so it was disappointing to get up to the counter only for the worker to rudely tell you they're out of many of the flavors. Maybe these could be taken down when out of stock since the sign looked magnetic. read more

This is cute little ice cream.shop in Columbia Square. Loved the vibe and it's atmosphere. Location and service are also perfect. Would be frequenting for sure given its the local spot. Located adjacent to Puckett's on the Columbia square, Hattie Jane's is a great after dinner stop. Or just a great stop in general if you're wanting dessert. They have a variety of classic and seasonal flavors, all of which sounded delicious. I tried the nana puddin on a waffle cone. While the waffle cone was a tad chewy, the ice cream had subtle banana flavor that wasn't overpowering or artificial seeming. Overall would return for a scoop. While visiting Columbia, I yelped ice cream spots and came across Hattie Jane's Creamery. Upon entering the establishment, I felt like I was in a hip old style ice cream parlor. They have plenty of flavors and they use local products in their ice cream which is always a plus. I sampled Sweet Corn & Blackberry, Minty Chip, and Honeycomb. I ultimately settled on a Unicorn Sundae made up of one scoop of Honeycomb and one scoop of Hattie's Vanilla. They add a mini cone, cotton candy, and lucky charms marshmallows to make it complete. Go big, or go home....amiright? Prices were reasonable, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect. Our family LOVES Hattie Jane's! Their ice cream has great flavor, the place is always clean and the people working there are always super friendly! Our family each has our favorites, but I have yet to try any of their flavors that aren't amazing. The honeycomb is hands down the best ice cream o have EVER had! Very charming ice cream shop with inventive flavors! I stopped in on St. Patrick's Day this past weekend and was excited to learn they had a Lucky Charms marshmallow flavor. So I got that, of course. Happy to say HJ's has stepped up their game. We sampled all the flavors tonight and the texture has improved quite a bit - smoother and lighter. Still not as thick as most places, but those other places are adding thickeners. (Tsk tsk) Proud to see them trying new flavors already: very surprised to see a Rosewater, one of my favorite ingredients and rather hip for Columbia. It was very well balanced - good job! I also got the vegan coconut, one of the best flavors by far. Super good actually. Mulekick (coffee) was excellent - nice and strong. Got Oreo mixed in, which was awesome. On the critical side, some of the flavors are still too weak (particularly the Cereal Bowl). And I would love to see more cream in the recipe to help the texture and body. But definitely an improvement, and we'll be back for sure. read more

Strolling around the square we were pleased to find this place open on a Sunday afternoon. We asked for whatever was most popular and got 2 scoops of Honeycomb in a waffle cone. It was huge!
