We've been with her for eight years now and couldn't be more pleased. Her office is clean and welcoming and has relaxing music playing that will calm anyone's nerves. Most importantly, though, is that she and her staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, gentle (an important trait for me because I'm the biggest baby when when it comes to poking around in my mouth), and genuinely caring when it comes to their patients' oral health. A good friend recommended Amisha Patel. Our prior dentist was moving to San Jose. I can tell that Amisha Patel is well skilled and does quality work, based upon the talented staff she maintains. Diana and Ingrid manage the office and get you into the correct spot ready to go. They help to deal with insurance companies! I was well impressed that well-selected music reduces the anxiety which comes from visiting for any purpose, even for cleaning and examination. Mercedes had the talent also. She had the memorable line that "now that I am polishing your teeth you will know that I am almost done." I am totally impressed that a dollar amount charge was announced for late cancellation of an appointment less than some number of hours in advance. That does make very good sense. I recommend that such a policy, consistently handled, is a mark of a wise dentist and of her staff. I am impressed even by the sign, with suitably large letters, visible from the street. read more

This is an update to another yelpers review. We have been coming to Dr Patels since early 2013. We absolutely love coming here. All the hygienists are great! They make sure you don't feel any discomfort during the procedures which is what keeps us coming back. Dr Patel is very thorough and lays out your treatment plan. payment is so easy. I have never had to deal with any of my dental insurance because they communicate with them. They are so personable and always greet you with a smile. We bring our young children and they now love going to the dentist. They have had such a positive experience and this will set their foundation for oral hygiene. They are so patient with them and will have a lot conversations with them. Overall great practice. From someone who hated the dentist and had a long treatment plan, they have been great. read more

After moving back to the Bay Area, we needed to find a family dentist. Our previous dentist was more concerned with cosmetics than we were comfortable with. I received a mailer for Dr Amisha Patel's dental practice and decided to try it. The scheduling was easy and they worked around my family's needs. Dr Patel and the entire staff are very welcoming and has your best interest in mind. Each member of my family had their cleaning and then were given a report on the items needing attention, ie, fillings, deep clean, crown, etc. Our out of pocket amount was clearly stated with no hidden fees. Our follow up visits were east to schedule and manage. Due to my husband's travel for work he needed to reschedule a couple times and had no troubles. I can safely and confidently say that I trust Dr. Patel and her staff to the max! I used to live in San Diego and I had a dentist of whom I thought made sure I had healthy teeth. Boy was I wrong! On my first visit to Dr. Patel's office, I had my diagnosis done and it was revealed that I had multiple cavities that were not addressed at all before by my previous dentist. Dr. Patel went through a thorough search and looked between every nook and cranny to find as many complications as possible. I felt relieved that professionals were doing this and I did not have any second thought of any problems occurring. I left the office with future appointments to correct my cavities and have them filled. The next several visits were great! They made sure I was numb and could not feel a thing when removing the cavities. The staff did their best to be as efficient and ergonomically as possible to get the best results. The procedure was completed with no complications and service was amongst the best. They do not cut corners on customer service either. The assistants and receptionist are all very kind and thoughtful. What really surprised me though was that they remember conversations from the previous appointment even if it was four months ago! That little detail goes very far due to the reason that it makes you so much more comfortable to know that you're not just a patient, you don't feel as if you're someone getting their teeth done. Instead a feeling of relief and relaxation overwhelms arrives since you know that you're in safe hands. I get my cleanings, crown related and other dental needs done with Dr Patel. I have abused my teeth over a period of time, so they can definitely use some TLC :). Dr Patel is super nice and gives good advice on tooth hygiene & treatment details. I did get second opinion on some matter from near by popular clinic and in transparency asked for my records from Dr Patel to get that opinion. They happily provided necessary records. Eventually I found advice from Dr Patel more apt, hence got my treatment done with her anyway. The staff & hygienists are super nice as well, we get regular reminders for our appointments and they work with us to get the appointments at our suitable hours. I started seeing Patel prior to the pandemic. I am a Registered Nurse and I spent the last two years of the pandemic prioritizing work and others first, neglecting my self care. It left me with horrible tooth decay. I share this because I would never treat a patient the way Patel treated me today. I already was bummed out that I needed to have a lot of work done. At my appointment, she was insensitive and to be honest, seemed offended or bothered by my treatment plan. She was unprofessional. My original appointment was last Friday, she cancelled my appointment 30 minutes prior. I had to take time off for the appointment, but things happen, no problem. I was rescheduled for today. She entered the room as I was being numbed to begin a crown. Already, I can tell she was irritated or in a bad mood. Now looking back, she was acting as if she did not want to treat me. She was short with me and had a lot of attitude in her tone of voice. It was my understanding the tooth possibly was going to need a root canal, which I was fine with proceeding, knowing I was probably going to have to see a specialist. She took a big sigh and said she wanted to make sure I wanted to proceed because my decay was so severe. She didn't have good bedside manner at all. When I was calmly explaining to her, she kept sighing in an exaggerated way. I told her I was surprised the tooth decay was so bad on the molar because I didn't have pain on that side. Her body language was distracting and I couldn't finish explaining. She smirked, did a half giggle and said it was probably because the tooth was dead already. So I questioned why we're going to attempt a crown if it was probably going to have to be extracted by the specialist. She deflected blame on her front desk staff for not communicating with me (but her front desk staff has always been amazing, especially Ingrid). She said the specialist will probably have to remove my tooth. Then backtracked and said he would probably remove the nerve. So I told her I didn't want to continue because I didn't feel comfortable that she was rolling her eyes and doing these weird half giggles every time she would say something. She was very condescending. It was so awkward! That was a horrible experience. Why would I want her to work on my teeth if she was so rude? read more

Dishonest and Untrustworthy Dentist I had a strange and unprofessional experience with Dr. Patel. She installed a crown that had a large gap between the bottom of the crown and my gumline, it caused me irritation, so I made an appointment for her to address the issue. She went into defensive hysterics at my suggestion that her work needed correction and suggested I get a routine cleaning instead. I declined the extra cleaning and put in a request to release my files so that I could find a dentist that would address this issue. Update: Things got much worse after my strange encounter, and it is no longer subjective it is now facts: Fact 1: Dr. Patel verbally stated that there was no charge for my visit, which made sense- it lasted less than 5 minutes, she looked in my mouth for less than 15 seconds, and then she declined to address the irritation I was experiencing from the gap with the crown she installed. A few weeks later I rec'd notice from my insurance co. that I had a balance due at Dr. Patel's office. So I emailed the office to clear up the mistake and rec'd a response that 1) mentioned my Yelp review, 2) mentioned my request to transfer my files elsewhere, 3) stated that the (undisclosed) fees stood, and 4) threatening me with collections. Super dishonest establishment. Fact 2: I requested a copy of all of my files from the office and submitted the paperwork for the file release. I have been at that office over 20 years and they sent me 5 random files that weren't even my most recent files. I made 3 more polite requests for my files and we are now 4 weeks out and they still haven't sent me my files. Fact 3: I got some of my latest x-rays from the specialist that Dr. Patel referred me to for the root canal since Dr. Patel wouldn't send them to me. I now know why Dr. Patel is withholding my most recent files because an alternate provider pointed out to me that I may have never needed the root canal/crown because in the x-rays from 16 months before she sent me for the root canal there was clear evidence of decay under a filling she installed. Like several other reviewers, I was also a former patient of Dr. Whitaker's during my childhood. However as an adult I put off going to the dentist for several years. I'm very glad I decided to call up Dr. Patel and get back on track. From my first visit Dr. Patel was very welcoming and even remembered a conversation she had with my mother (also a patient) about my job. After a thorough exam involving pictures and x-rays, Dr. Patel was able to explain and show me pictures of some dental issues I had and her staff developed a treatment plan with me. I was pretty embarrassed about my dental neglect but Dr. Patel and her staff were very kind and non judgemental. They also made sure I understood the treatment plan and all associated costs before I began any procedures. During my procedures Dr. Patel and her assistant where extremely gentle and continously made sure I was comfortable. Overall I found Dr. Patel and her staff to be knowledgeable and friendly. Several Yelp reviewers have referred to Dr. Whitaker - I too was a long time patient of his, and have happily stayed on with Dr. Patel! She has re-done fillings and crowns that were old & worn out. Her work was painless, efficient, and professional. I also get my 6 mo. cleanings and am happy she reviews my teeth each time to stay on top of anything that needs attention. I have also had a couple of semi-emergency situations and Dr. Patel has quickly fit me in to her schedule each time. The office staff is professional, efficient and friendly. The only thing I miss with Dr. Whitaker is his corny jokes... but only he could pull them off in his own inimitable way. I was a patient of Dr. Whitaker's for over 30 years, so when Dr. Patel came in I was a little skeptical. She and her staff seemed nice at first, but a few things have transpired. First, I was not advised up front that a deep cleaning was above what my insurance covers and I had to pay $300 out of pocket unexpectedly. Second, I was threatened that they could not proceed to my next visit until the balance was paid in full, there was no working a payment plan option available with them. And the last incident made me lose respect for Dr. Patel completely as a dentist. I called early Saturday two weeks ago because of a severe tooth ache. I can normally tolerate pain pretty well, but when it had already been two plus days and I was gargling with warm salt water and taking Advil every four hours and warm compresses on my jaw and the pain was still intense, I needed to seek relief and call my dentist. I left a voice message. I did not get a call from Dr. Patel or another office that was on call. I got a call Monday morning from her service. The lady was very, very nice and professional. Since I'm a diabetic, she said that Dr. Patel wanted me to contact my Primary Care doctor regarding my blood sugars. Then she stated that Dr. Patel wanted me to continue with the Peridex. Okay. These two suggestions were fine, but I was in pain since before Saturday and two days later your finally have your service call and chat with me about my diabetes?? I can tell you that Dr. Whitaker would either had his service call me that day about where else I can get care or Dr. Whitaker would have called me himself!! Dr. Patel does not seem interested in the care of her patients whatsoever!! The service then asked about my pain and I told her that it wasn't as severe and I would see if it would go away on it's own. I told the service I was a little disappointed that I wasn't referred to a back-up dentist and that I didn't receive a call back in a timely manner. So what happen's next? I got a letter yesterday from Dr. Patel's office stating that she is withdrawing from further professional services because it seems that we have not established the necessary doctor-patient relationship vital to the success of my dental care. She felt a "change" was necessary. I have to say I am very disappointed and embarrassed that she was my dentist in the first place!!!! After seeing for myself how she treats her patients, I was not going to return anyway. I will definitely make sure my family and friends no longer use her services either. read more

After being a long time patient of Dr. Whittaker, we are not happy with Dr. Patel. After making payments to Dr. Patel for 4 months, we suddenly get a notice that we were going to be sent to collections. A simple call to our home explaing that Dr. Patel's office will not honor Dr. Whittaker's practice. Instead I contact her office immediately, and paid there office in full. How on earth would anyone want to stay with her, when she is sending her patient to collections! She only cares about the money, not her patients! read more
