Street parking, big spaces, good for small children, good options for both savory and sweet (baked goods vs. quiche and sandwiches) Their green tea matcha latte did not disappoint- aesthetically pleasing and also good full matcha flavor. Service was fast- wish they were a bit more warm/friendly to match the warmth of their decor/interior design, but at least the food was good. We got baked goods- the croissants- correct flake, buttery, and large. This is a proper croissant. Sandwiches also good flavor- I got the chicken salad. Quiche was also a good choice. read more

Located on Main Street of Penn Yan, Amity Coffee offers the classic coffee shop vibe with modern decor. Very chic and cozy. Stopped in on a busy Saturday morning and enjoyed the energy here. The decor is great. You can find lots of plants and decorations specific to the finger lakes area. They also have books and games for guests to enjoy. We played the tic tac toe game while waiting for our order. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor as well The pastry case was eye catching and we would have loved to order one of everything if we could. We went with a chocolate croissant and macarons (blueberry matcha and butter pecan) Nothing but good things to say about the food and drinks here. We ordered two iced matcha drinks, four macarons, and one croissant which came to around $25 dollars. Pricey but worth it for the overall quality and experience. The bathroom was spotless but also had the same elevated design/decor to it which was appreciated. Not many places maintain this beyond the main area. I was sooo happy to find this place. I was having a hard time finding a coffee shop/cafe during my recent trip to the Finger Lakes, and finding this gem made this trip even more perfect. They have a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee, and definitely satisfied this city girl! There was a good amount of seating in the restaurant as well! Don't be put off by a long line. The place is well staffed, and they are pros. The line moved fast both days we went and the vibe is great. The baked goods would be very competitive even in New York City. I particularly enjoyed the pain au Chocolat, the monkey bread, and the chocolate almond croissant. The plain croissant was the underachiever. Don't sleep on the bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, which arrive on excellent small bagels. We tried the regular bec and the Sudsy, which adds hot sauce, fig jam, and avocado for a flavor bomb. Get it on a rosemary salt bagel. It's so rare to see (good) coffee art where I live that I was pleasantly surprised to see it done so well in a small town like Penn Yan. Going on a Tuesday meant that there were less people around and quieter, but the baristas were still very businesslike. They are competent and respectful but not particularly friendly or outgoing. This place is a godsend in this area for coffee as there's literally no other place to get coffee. They serve light coffee which I was very excited about and on top of that found a new roaster I was excited to try (JUNTO). They don't serve single origin espresso and seem to excel in pour overs and their drip. The waitress doesn't seem to know any coffee lingo so I would hold off and just order a drink instead of asking for specific coffee questions if you are into that. In terms of what I got- I'm in love with the Colombian drip from JUNTO and I got a Rwandan pour over and usually it won't taste good at all if the wrong process is used / timing and pour / but they did it so good I was extremely happy with my coffee. read more

Nice little coffee shop and what I believe is the only coffee shop right in town. Ample seating indoors and a few tables outside. It was pretty busy but we didn't have a problem finding a table, even with social distancing. They also had a nice variation of seating styles from standard tables and chairs to large padded high back chairs (our choice) to couches and finally a long padded bench across from where you order and receive your drinks. The decor was simple, but nice. Standard espresso menu and pastries. We didn't even look at the pastries as we went in while waiting for our table for breakfast. They also had a small board with some daily specials. We ordered an espresso and because I saw it on the specials menu, a blackberry espresso fizz. That was definitely not my best choice. I had them explain what it was and I ordered it because I had never heard of something like that. There's a very good reason for that. An espresso fizz is basically sparkling coffee and it's every bit as weird as it sounds. It wasn't terrible but I also didn't really enjoy it and will never try something like that again. I don't fault Amity for that, my husbands cappuccino was good, I fault myself for trying something so strange. It's definitely a good place to get espresso based drinks and we would recommend it. This place was soo friggin good! Should have known by the amount of people in there. It was definitely poppin. We started with an iced coffee, iced chai, and the almond croissant warmed up. It was big and literally so so so good! Probably the best almond croissant I've ever had! Then I got the avocado toast with an egg on top - also delicious. My partner got a BEC sandwich on an everything bagel and he said that was fantastic too! No chewy bacon, cooked nice and crisp! The staff was nice and the atmosphere was relaxed. We love this place. Simple food specials, baked goods, coffee & tea in a hip format. (. Just like Central Perk in Friends- check out the sofa in the rear) The only niggling part of our visits is that often the tables are inhabited by the computer workers who camp out and do not leave tables for the patrons. There seems to be no time limit for them and there are times those tables are needed for paying customers. read more

This is THE spot for good coffee, good breakfast, and a good atmosphere, all for a very affordable price. My husband and I spent time on Seneca Lake for our honeymoon but made the trek to Amity nearly every morning to get our fix. We tried the egg sandwich, sun dried tomato quiche, sriracha honey waffles, parmesan and leek pastry, and bougie avocado toast--all of it was filling and very delicious. I recently spent a day in town, which required me to kill plenty of time. Being a full time student at Empire State College I was able to complete a few assignments here. I did a Yelp search looking for a cafe/coffee house that I could nestle into so Amity was a pleasant find and I think part of my intrigue was this is also the name of the fictional town in Jaws. Amity Coffee Co is pretty upscale in appearance, walking in the counter and barista bar are to your left. The end closest to the door is where drinks will be picked up and to the left the of that is the counter that contains the various items to fix up your coffee the way you like. Below there are tubs to return various utensils and plates. Immediately next to the register, the farthest part of the counter from the door is a glass pastry case with various items available, based upon the appearance I presume they are rotated out regularly and there is a variety of posh toasts available. I ordered a fruit tart, that I recall being apple, cranberry and rose. I'm not sure who the bakery is but this was really fantastic, not heavy, not over baked and the fruit filling had a perfect tart- sweet balance. For my beverage I had a standard iced coffee black, served in a glass which I appreciated. The cafe is long and narrow, washrooms are located on the middle. The long bench that starts to the right of the entrance has room for numerous seating and electrical outlets, one issue with this however is that they are situated above the bench and I could see easy entanglements if not paying attention. I didn't make my way to the back of the cafe since I tried somewhat successfully to focus on my assignments. I was not the only one clicking away for a few hours. The person working at the counter when I arrived wasnt overly friendly, and the time I was there they were not exceptionally busy. But overall the atmosphere was pretty relaxed, if I were to be in town for a long day again I imagine I'd spend some time here. read more
