The two at-home sessions leading up to my hospital birth were so informative and really made my husband and I feel as prepared as possible to think through lots of different scenarios (and much more informative than any labor course we took!). Robyn is clearly incredibly experienced, professional, and so deeply cares about the mamas and partners she supports. Robyn was always available and on the night I went into labor, she was in constant contact guiding us during the time leading up to our hospital arrival. She was there waiting for us at 1am ready to go - she was so prepared and immediately made me feel at ease for this unknown experience. All of the techniques she offered me, the constant emotional and physical support during labor (she is a talented masseuse!!), and her encouragement and backing of all my birth preferences (including ensuring our gender reveal stayed a surprise until the very end!) made the day such a positive experience. Not to mention, had Robyn not been there, I felt there was a very high likelihood I would have had to have had a cesarean birth due to my extended labor process. Instead, the techniques and positions Robyn worked with the doctors and nurses to offer meant that I got to have the safe and healthy delivery I had hoped for. Robyn also set an incredible vibe (music, candlelight, relaxing aromatherapy, honey sticks for energy!) that made the room feel special instead of cold and sterile. My husband and I both agreed that having Robyn as our doula was one of the best decisions and we have a beautiful, healthy baby girl and only positive memories of the labor experience because she was such an important part of our birthing team. We love you Robyn!!

As first-time parents, we were anxious and sleep-deprived upon coming home from the hospital with our baby, and having Lauren there during that first night at home was absolutely life-saving -- I felt so grateful and relieved to see her walk through the door. She was so warm and reassuring, and I knew that our baby would be in good hands. Each night that she came, she would answer all our random questions that we had written down, teach us how to soothe and care for our new baby, and give us the opportunity to catch up on much-needed sleep while she looked after the baby overnight. Then before leaving each morning, she would always give us a summary of how the night went, including anything notable about the baby's health or behavior and any relevant advice. It's clear that Lauren is an expert at what she does, and it was amazing to have her as our trusted advisor on all things baby-related. Coming home from the hospital as first time parents and knowing Lauren was there to support us helped relieve our "newborn" stress. Lauren adapted her style to our needs. She helped us grow in confidence for caring for our child so that by the time she left, although we missed her company, we felt equipped for parenthood. Before I met Lauren, I was hesitant to accept that a night doula could fit into our family. Those first few months are so intimate, and I didn't want to have anyone around that would dampen the experience. Well, that worry was unfounded with Lauren. Lauren helped me be able to focus on my son better than I could have without her help. If you are thinking of hiring Lauren, don't take my word for it - see for yourself.

Even before the birth, Laura was constantly checking in on me, offering advice on everything from what to eat and drink to exercises that would help make labor easier. None of this was really her job, but she was always willing to go above and beyond to help. When we got home from the hospital, totally exhausted and unsure of what to do, Laura was right there, stepping in to take care of the baby so we could get some much-needed rest. I have known Debbie Benton way before she became our doula. In fact, I've known her my whole life…read more Since I was a little girl, she was always this light of all things holistic and healing. I used to come to her house and she would teach me about healing with essential oils, gardening, delicious recipes that weren't entrenched in sugar, and all things BIRTH. I always told her that one day, when I was going to have a baby that she was going to be my doula. And oh boy was she. First of all, she is certified in so many birthing preparation courses, it makes her the most well rounded educator. She is a certified hypnobabies educator and we took the 6 week course with her in preparation for our birthing time. We learned more with Debbie than I did with my OB. Debbie provided us an entire educational viewpoint with the added hyonobabies platform. It was incredible! I went into labor at home and labored until I was about 4.5 centimeters, using hypnobabies. When I got to the hospital, I was wearing my headphones staying in hypnosis and the nurses who triaged me complimented me on how calm how I was choosing to move through my birthing waves. It was an incredible experience. Also, having the education of what the hospital would try to coerce me into doing or saying, and knowing what my rights were or how to push back gently was very empowering. I had no anxiety about sticking up for myself, because I had practiced ahead of time, using Hypnobabies. We even went though a mock birthing and delivery simulation at home, within hypnobabies, and my husband was prepared on the different birthing positions he could support me in, different ways to help me stay in hypnosis, how to advocate for me with hospital staff while I was under hypnosis, physical pressure points to help and so much more. She's also trained in the Body Ready Method and she used this technique to support us in so many ways. When I was having lower back pain, she taught me the poses to do to help stretch and alleviate that pain. She taught us what poses we could do on my birthing ball. She taught us poses to do to help the baby engage deeper into the pelvis. Our whole experience was a complete holistic, well rounded education and preparation for birth and I could not be more thankful. I can't say enough how much more I got from Debbie than I did from my OB. Working with Debbie outside of the hospital system helped me to feel like a real person. At the hospital, while I had a positive experience, I definitely felt like a number. Speaking of hospital, it was our plan to labor at home and then go to the hospital when I was further dilated and we did that. It also just so happened that Debbie knew some of the hospital staff on the floor at the time, being that she had worked with them out in the birthing field. It only made my experience better. When Debbie arrived, she set up candles (fire proof) all around my room, tea lights, affirmations to encourage being calm and peaceful. It was so incredible and it contributed to the whole experience being that much more peaceful. When I was pushing, she helped me to breathe down into my pushed. Before I would make a decision with the nurses, I would look to Debbie for opinion first. My entire birthing experience was supported and Debbie was such a huge part of it. When I was laboring at home the week before I delivered, she stocked my fridge with soups for postpartum, a pregnancy drink to help with labor, sitz bath herbs for postpartum, lactation cookies. She did our placenta and turned them into capsules, she made us a tincture with the placenta too. I used her blend of pregnant tea throughout pregnancy. She is so knowledgeable and it exceeds birth. Her whole life is this beautifully holistic, homeopathic, healing example of a life lived with intention. Any birthing family is blessed to work with her. Thank You, Debbie! - Naikea Ward Ubaga

I interviewed many doulas with massage experiences and when I met Rayna the first time, I was immediately struck by her energy and spirit. She knew the body so well and got me started right away on posture and stretches to help me during my pregnancy discomforts and to help get baby in the right position to prevent back labor. She also has the perfect balance in being encouraging and vocal without being pushy or annoying. I was so happy to have her on my team for the birth of my second child! When I went into labor, Rayna came and met me at my home. She immediately jumped in and worked on my back during my very painful contractions. She quickly assessed that I needed to be at the hospital immediately and we left as soon as I was able to walk between contractions. At the hospital, she came in and had no trouble putting herself where I needed her without getting in the nurses or doctors' way. She went right on massaging my back and helping me breathe through the pain. She communicated with the nurses to try to give me the birth experience she knew I wanted. She asked for oil for tearing, for a push bar, etc. In the end, the baby came so fast (15 min. after checking into L&D) that there wasn't time for that but I knew she was advocating for me and that was a weight off my shoulders. After baby came, Rayna made arrangements to take my placenta for encapsulation and she stuck around until the wee hours of the morning, completely unobtrusively, just making sure I didn't need anything else. Rayna also gave me amazing pre and post-partum massages, which were just what I needed during the stressful time. She is truly a gifted doula and massage therapist. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any mama!

My…read moremother had passed away just one year earlier, and as a 38-year-old first-time mom, I felt lost without her guidance. I remember sharing that with Chavah early in my pregnancy, and from that moment on, she cared for me with a level of compassion and sensitivity that I will never forget. Before I even chose a midwife, I prayed for guidance. Then I opened Yelp, and Chavah was the very first midwife I called. After speaking with her on the phone, I didn't search any further. Looking back now, five months postpartum, I truly know she was an answer to my prayer. Chavah cared for us from the very beginning of my pregnancy--around three months along--through birth and into those precious first weeks postpartum. Throughout every appointment, she was wise, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to educate us, answer our endless first-time-parent questions, and guide us through each stage with confidence and reassurance. One thing that especially touched us was her willingness to go above and beyond when life threw us an unexpected curveball. Midway through my pregnancy, my husband and I had to relocate, moving about 70 miles away. Most people would have understandably referred us elsewhere, but Chavah generously agreed to keep us on as clients. We were so grateful. Those extra miles meant more to us than she probably realizes. Our pregnancy was healthy and uncomplicated. The only bump in the road was that I needed an iron boost, and Chavah quickly connected us with excellent care for a couple of iron transfusions. Her experience and attentiveness gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands every step of the way. When it came time to give birth, Chavah was absolutely amazing. She created an environment where I felt informed, supported, and in control. Well... as much control as a woman can feel while temporarily visiting another dimension during contractions. Thankfully, our son had places to be and arrived after just five hours of active labor, making his debut before lunchtime. Today, we are five months postpartum and have a healthy, thriving baby boy. I've intentionally taken my time writing this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on our experience and express just how grateful we are. Chavah brought wisdom when I needed guidance, encouragement when I felt uncertain, and compassion when I was grieving. She cared for not only my physical health, but my emotional well-being too. I honestly cannot imagine a better midwife experience. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I would choose Chavah again without hesitation. Knowing she would be part of our care would bring immediate peace of mind. Thank you, Chavah, for everything you did for our family--and for so much more than was ever required. We will always be grateful.
