This place is an absolute gem. The food is absolutely amazing and flavorful, the cocktails are super affordable, and the service is off the hook family style unpretentious hospitality. The interior speaks "Old World Comfort" with exposed brick and plenty of ambient lighting while you enjoy your meal. I came in for a quick lunch today and just the wings with some crusty bread were mind blowing. Nice and meaty. Great flavor split between Teriyaki and Garlic Parm. They were so big, in fact that I ended up packing my main course for later lol. Highly recommend and Nina is an absolute sweetheart. Ask for her if you can. Delicious salads for lunch! We tried two different ones- the finocchio which is fennel with avocado and tomato. The other was the chopped. Very fresh ingredients and perfect with the focaccia bread sticks that they bring to each table. The bread is served with two dipping sauces which are excellent too. Service was spot on. The restaurant is very welcoming, well appointed, great atmosphere. We look forward to trying other dishes there. read more

Ordered from Uber Eats and I just want to say my review won't have anything to do with the presentation or experience of Uber Eats just on the food that was presented. Ordered the meatballs apps, garlic knots, a penne vodka with sausage and a small cheese pie. The only highlight from the meal was the pasta as it was really good. The sausage pieces made the dish as the sauce was a little more on the bland side. Now I do make my own red sauce and tend to use more cloves garlic and spices but the marinara that was presented with the food was tasteless and felt like they poured crush tomatoes into a pot and just boiled it. Unfortunately the meatballs were in the same sauce and made a negative impact on the taste of the meats (pork and beef). Lastly the small cheese pie was ok but couldn't get over the sliced parmigiana that didn't melt correctly as the pieces cut were too thick and needed more a crumble/sprinkle of parm. First time here, Bronx house pizza which we love told us about this place. Amazing food, such nice staff. We had Chicken Amore (Milanese) , perfect, thin cutlets, huge salad on top, great balsamic glaze. Also, the lasagna! So good, huge portion, meat filled. Full bar and wines! Cute pizza restaurant with great service. There is plenty of parking as well. I had the Red Sangria ($12) and it was decent. Nothing really stood out. We also ordered some garlic knots and the Juliet Pizza. The knots were seasoned perfectly and baked thoroughly. My mother ordered the ravioli and I thought it was a bit dry. The sauce could have been a bit more liquidity. I definitely would come back here and try a different pizza. I think this is where they excel. read more

Horrendous service. There was a mix up on a delivery order. Hey, life happens, I honestly wasn't trying to make a big deal of it but the woman behind the bar completely blew it up and escalated it unnecessarily. Horrible service. Usually love this place but found a piece of glass in our chicken parm delivery order tonight (triangle shaped about the size of half a pinky tip and I almost swallowed it). Called right away to warn them that this happened and just got a "thanks for calling." Told them to take my number in case the manager wanted to call and no one did. Great good, good ambience, terrible service. Keep in mind, my experience was from 2 years ago, because I finally couldn't take the bad service and decided never to come back. The manager was god, god awful. I could tell a long story about how epically bad he was, but I don't have enough time. It was straight out of a bad Hell's Kitchen episode. Hopefully that guy turned it around, because I've eaten all over the world (including a recent Gordon Ramsey restaurant) and he was straight out of central casting-bad. Good size servings 2 aspects really let it down - variable service - feels like they have issues with staffing (not enough staff?) I've had two recent experiences with Amore, both extremely positive. First was takeout this past Saturday evening for three generations of my family. I ordered the seafood pasta, and it was more than ample and excellent. Clams, mussels and squid were fresh and tender. Pasta was perfectly cooked. This evening we had our toddler grandson with guys and decided to stop in for pizza. We ended up ordering, in addition to a margarita pie, mac n cheese and french fries, to satisfy the youngster with us. Again, great food and fine, attentive wait service. this place is, as someone else wrote, a hidden gem. Most importantly, the prices are extremely reasonable. I've been going to Amore for over a year now. The food is amazing!! Great flavor, pizza is on point and staff very friendly. I have one questions however. I don't know if I missed this but what in the heck is a charge added onto your bill called a "non cash adjustment". I ordered $70 worth of food, and at the end of the bill was a $2.58 non cash adjustment. As if inflation weren't bad enough. What are you doing?? Please explain. What has happened to the Amore I loved? Possibly was a bad night, but once a pizza quickly cooked in the wood burning stove that would rise with the perfectly charred bubbles on top and airy crust was sent out like a chain store pizza...no color on the crust, no rise, and soggy. Came on Sunday for brunch. Parking available behind the building and some street parking. We didn't have to wait around noon when we arrived for a party of 7. We had 4 kids and they were accommodating. Place was loud with loud music and a DJ. There is a kids menu. And Sunday brunch has a special menu in addition to its regular menu. They also offer bottomless mimosa. They ran out of fish due to lent. So I ordered short rib with mushroom risotto. And penne alla vodka. Both very good and had leftovers. I also ordered the bubble bread which is fried dough. Really good. Wish it also came with dipping sauce. I can't wait to get back and try the duck fat potato that they forgot to bring. Kids food came out quick but the rest of the food came later. I think we were there for 90 minutes. I'm surprised that the rating is only 3 stars but I'm gonna to go back to try different items on the menu. read more

If I could give this place a half a star I would, the food was mediocre let's not mention the service, I couldn't tell whether it was a racial thing or if they just didn't give a crap that we were actual paying customers. First we walked in and was told we could sit anywhere so my husband and i decided it was a beautiful evening why not sit outside? Big mistake we literally sat down and waited 20 mins before anyone even came to take our order no bread no water in until we got our super cold truffle fries then we got our food after another couple who got there literally after we got our truffle fries and placed our order, by this point I was so annoyed I was done with my seltzer and when I got my food I ordered another with lemon and he literally gave me the same freaking lemon that was floating in my water I was so annoyed. i recently had a Memorial Celebration at Amore's and the service was "Magniciant" as was the bartender as well as the waitress. And the food was "outstanding" and everyone was so nice and kind. From greasy late night pizza to wood fired pies with inventive toppings, it's hard to resist eating a slice every day. New on the scene (but not new to the pizza game) is Amore Cucina & Bar in Stamford. Owner Bruno DiFabio is an award-winning "pizza champion," and has recently brought on the talented Jared Falco as chef. I have eaten an irresponsible amount of pizza in my life, and was quite excited to try DiFabio's pies. There are some really incredible pizzas to be had in the state, with the competition getting steeper with every passing month. At a recent press dinner at Amore Cucina, I had the opportunity to see what the hype is all about. The evening began with cocktails, which were excellent. Not too fussy, not too basic (no cosmos to be seen on the menu), and each one was bright and strong. Usually it's one cocktail and then a switch to beer for me, but I stuck with the hard stuff all night. Too good to resist! The pizzas arrived, and DiFabio shared some details about his creations. There are two styles to be had, a very thick and airy crust, and a wood fired style which he calls "Neo-Neopolitain." I was interested to hear that he uses only wild yeast gathered by hand, as opposed to commercial yeast. Those are the little touches that I love. The pies were good, but not remarkable. Perhaps a few years ago I'd have been more impressed, but there are just so many talented pizzaiolos in the area and it takes a lot to blow me away. This is not to say that this isn't good pizza, it's just not memorable. It reminded me of pizza I've had at Rizzuto's, Brick + Wood, or 850 Degrees. Interestingly, though Amore Cucina pushes their pizza, I thought it was Chef Falco's dishes that really wowed. I've experienced his food at two other venues in South Norwalk, Mama's Boy and Washington Prime, and during my meal at Amore Cucina he delivered the same quality I've come to expect from previous encounters with his cooking (happily, there was no "foie gras powder" to be seen; it was such a ubiquitous element on Washington Prime's appetizers I couldn't help but wonder). We were treated to quite the spread of small plates, and there were several standouts. First, tuna crudo with pumpkin seeds, Calabrian peppers, and pickled onions. I loved it. Sweet and tender tuna with a tiny kick of pepper and the crunch of seeds; I had to resist taking more than my fair share. The octopus puttanesca was fabulous; the best I've ever had. Tender, smoky, salty, addictive. If you're freaked out by tentacles, get over it and order this dish. Two heavier appetizers were both big hits at the table; meatballs and fried lasagna. I liked the meatballs, and my friend/photographer loved them. The lasagna was exactly what it sounds like: chunks of lasagna, breaded and fried. Could that possibly be bad? The answer is no. The larger plates were a mixed bag. I loved the spicy chicken scarpariello, and even though I was full to bursting, I took two helpings. The prawns with polenta, however, were a disappointment. Visually impressive, but unexciting. I don't know how, but I found the space for dessert! First, pizzele (essentially a belgian waffle) with fresh fruit. It's crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, and totally delicious. The nutella pizza would be a good choice for kids, I think. Conclusion: I will be back. I want to sit at the bar, order some of those fabulous cocktails, and feast on appetizers.. The fact that the pizza isn't the star here is irrelevant - there are plenty of places where I can satisfy that craving, but nowhere I've found where I can get such delicious octopus. read more

We tried it tonight on a Tuesday in August. It was packed. I wish them the best. We'll be back. Parking is a not easy and a hassle. Even our waitress/manager complained about it. They have a decent menu and nice specials. Wine list is okay but could be better. They have those water bottles they put on the table without asking which is nice and convenient. The food is very good and ambiance is nice. Menu is more limited than you would expect. No bread is offered unless you ask which is odd for an Italian restaurant. No side salads are available for meals which is in my opinion a mistake. They must fix this problem as other places like it have side salads that are not on menu but are available to those that ask. The seats are not that comfortable. They only have 2 booths and many high top tables. No draft beer. I considered the chicken parmesan but declined when I asked what spaghetti cakes were. I was told upon inquiry only that they contain bacon. I and do not eat bacon because I'm not a fan but some people do not eat it for religious, health or other reasons. My wife and I used to come here often when it was operated by Bruno and we loved it. It is under a new owner now and it seems as though he is taking it to a worse place. They are understaffed and the owner does not help out the employees when it would get slightly busy. This was devastating to witness because he would just look at the chaos around him and not budge, which is not what a leader would do and made the restaurant function less. He would stand infront of the kitchen doors and be in the way of the employees trying to run food. He would watch as the employees struggle without providing any assistance which made my wife and i feel uneasy. There were tables that needed cleaning, customers in the front who weren't being attended and a busboy carrying 4 plates at once. As a customer this isn't the type of atmosphere that felt inviting. It isn't a very big place but my wife & i were waiting quite a while just to put an order in. The food was one of the better aspects to the establishment but the service and the new owner made it unbearable to be in. In my opinion there are better italian restaurant's around stamford that are worth checking out. read more

I stopped there for lunch with a client. My client, who knows this place, recommended the lasagna balls, an appetizer, so I had that and a slice of pizza. The lasagna balls were good and the pizza was better. The server was excellent. All in all a great experience. read more

Not impressed with brunch. I got the BEC sandwich without bread and when it came out the eggs were missing. It took a minute for the waitress to come back and ask how things were and when I pointed this out she was like oh that doesn't have eggs, do you want some? I was so confused. It says right on the menu it is supposed to have 2 scrambled eggs. Either way, shortly after, she brught my eggs and there wasn't an extra charge on the bill for a side of eggs so I think I was right. And don't even get me started on the "braised pork belly" that was supposed to be on my plate...it was just regular bacon. The other item listed as a filling was "creamy ricotta." While true, ricotta is creamy, I was expecting something exceptional, coming from an Italian restaurant. It had the look and texture of Polly-o from the grocery store. This meal was a joke. The duck fat potatoes I subbed the shoestring fries for saved the day, but I'm eating low carb so I could only have a couple bites. If I could give a no stars I would, I have been a customer here for years and I have never had such a bad experience as I did a few Friday's ago, myself and 2 others were sitting at the bar it was around 10pm we asked Saranda who we adore if we could have another round as it was slow, she said absolutely I have a table in the back, the bartender gentleman (I'm using that word lightly) when we asked for another round and he proceeded to say no I'm not making you another drink (mind you we were drinking wine) and said he wasn't making any money on us? I was taken aback I thought he was joking but he wasn't, I can't believe that amore would hire such a person as we have always felt welcome every time we have come in.. Ordered delivery due to COVID-19, remarked it was our anniversary to thank them for letting us "eat out" from our home. Food arrived quickly, very hot (tough to even hold the containers), and excellent. So far this may be the best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in Stamford -- pizza, penne, pappardelle, short rib, cheesecake, canoli, all amazing and very very tasty (we ate too much!).
