My husband and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary at Siena yesterday. We were driving from Philadelphia to Boston and got off the Merritt Parkway looking for dinner in Norwalk, a city we've enjoyed visiting before. What a find this restaurant was! I was looking to decompress in a relaxing atmosphere close to home, and I immediately thought of Siena and its cozy bar atmosphere. As I walked in, it was like the comfy white leather seat was waiting just for me! What I hadn't realized was that it was still happy hour for another 30 minutes. Monday through Friday happy hour is from 5 to 6:30pm. Deciding between white or red, the bartender offered up a sample of each both were very good. I opted for the Cabernet. Kicking back relaxing I decided on one of the pizzas to nosh on from the HR menu. The wild mushroom pizza and I added black truffle oil to kick it up a notch. I happen to be on a truffle oil kick lately. The pizza was amazing! The dough itself was delectable. A meal to be savored for sure. Food and service were absolutely amazing at the Siena! Also the restaurant itself is beautiful which adds to the appeal. There was a drink special involving green grapes that I would say is one of the best drinks I've ever had as a lover of sweet drinks! While staying at the adjoining hotel, I took advantage of the 4-6pm "happy hour." Their signature cocktails, house wines, some beers, and pizzas were available for a reduced price. In enjoyed a sauvignon blanc sangria, the fritti mixti appetizer, and olive oil cake for dessert... all delicious! The manager, Corey, was friendly and attentive, offering me a complimentary limoncello with almond biscotti! A nice feature of this restaurant is that the windows overlooking the Norwalk River can be opened to allow semi-al fresco dining. And she was right it took a long time for the mains to arrive. About an hour. An hour to make a salad, a burger and a couple eggs Benedict is odd though. But then things got strange, the waffles weren't ready. So everyone at the table has their food except the kids. The waitress said the waffles would take 20-40 minutes and they hadn't started making them yet. So we were told the food would take a while to make but truthfully they didn't even start making our order for at least an hour. No worries I'm not going to eat my breakfast in front of my kids while they wait 20 min. For waffles. So I had them box up everything and we left. I can make waffles in 3 min at home. They took the appetizers off the bill. So here is where it gets really bad. My son was eating his burger when we got home. And there was a bunch of rocks in it. Strange coincidence to find a bunch of rocks in your food after a bad restaurant experience. It looks an awful lot like they sabotaged the food after we decided to leave the restaurant. I would avoid this reataurant, I don't know 100% that they sabotaged our food, but even if they didn't, how do pieces of rocks end up in a burger. I would have given the overall experience 2 stars before the rocks in the food. Lesson learned, if you have a bad restaurant experience, definitely do not have them box up the food. Lol. Just returned from a Mother's Day brunch at Siena. I've been to this restaurant many times in the past and the meal has always been good. I can't say this meal was even passable. The buffet food was cold and tasteless. No effort was put into the presentation. Loved it! Took the wife, daughter and MIL for Valentine's Day and everyone had a fantastic time. We did not realize it was a prefix menu ( couldn't find it stated anywhere and no prices to be found) but despite not having what we originally hoped for we found lots of delicious options available. My kiddo was set on noodles with red sauce and meatballs and unfortunately it was not part of the prefix menu. Our waiter however was the hero of the night and got the ok for a special plate of spaghetti with meatballs and made one little girls valentines! Quiet and friendly place for a lunch with some class. Service was very efficient and unobtrusive. Much appreciated. We had the Prix Fixed for $28 each, which was an excellent value from a good sized special menu. This special, it must be noted, is only available weekdays. A Brunch menu works the weekends. For our lunch we had and shared Mushroom Arrancini and Eggplant Crostini; both excellent, although the eggplant was tastier. For mains, which we also shared, we had a simple pizza and a Chicken Parmesan. The pizza was very good; the sauce on the Chicken was tasty and mild; the accompanying Rigatoni al dente, as required. Our dinners arrived quickly and since a storm was headed that way we skipped appetizers. I had the crab bucatini and my friend the swordfish special. My friend's swordfish was overcooked, dry and lacked proper seasoning. The accompanying diced vegetables did nothing for the dish at all. Needless to say, he was not satisfied or pleased. I'll have to agree with his experience since we shared our dishes. My crab bucatini was flavorful. However it had a gloppy cheese sauce that detracted from the overall quality and taste. Note to the chef a light lemon butter sauce would have been perfect! The fried breadcrumbs with lemon should have been atop the pasta like a crusty layer rather than uncaringly plopped around the side like an afterthought. This place does not disappoint. For starters it's located in a great hotel and has a really cool vibe to it. If you go in the daytime, it's grand windows peer outside to the flowing river. I've been there a few times in each time I select one of their pasta options. Always excellent. As are their soups and desserts. This place can get noisy if crowded, but so what? it is not deafening and it's a large enough dining area . Just delish! My siblings and I met in Norwalk for a weekend of fun. We stayed at a hotel zero degrees and ate at Siena. I have been here several times and it's always a pleaser. But last night service and food was just perfect. The food was absolutely delicious. The crab dip was awesome. The cod dinner with spinach was cooked to perfection. The star of this meal could have been the "maitake mushroom" appetizer- yummy! No pictures because we just ate it! And ate it...and ate it! Piglets. The owner (Pasquale) was so attentive and friendly. The wine menu was robust and recommendations were perfect. Pasquale, you hire very well. We went to Meditteraneo frequently and decided to give Siena, the latest restaurant to take over the space in Hotel Zero Degrees, a try. From what we were told, the restaurant had a soft opening last week and they were still getting their bearings. We made a reservation online via Resy for 4:45pm and when we got there they apologetically let us know that service didn't start until 5pm but they were happy to have us sit at the bar for a drink. The bartender was nice and kind enough to make us a cocktail while they were still setting up. The cocktail list is really nice and the pours were generous. The wines by the glass selection was also quite good. So, let's talk food. It was good. In fact, really good. The crostini trio was lovely (the grilled peaches and whipped ricotta especially!); the beet salad was heavenly- super flavorful, light, and simple. I'm still daydreaming about our entrees a day later: the shrimp and cockles is a Tuscan dream: broccoli rabe, white beans, simple stock, and perfect. We also tried the tagliatelle with mushrooms. swoon worthy! So fresh, so much flavor but not heavy at all. Finished it off with a beautiful espresso martini (I know, basic!) and the olive oil cake was as good as any I've had abroad. The only feedback I'd give- and I'm sure this will change over time- is that it lacked energy and 'heart'. I don't know how else to describe it. I sat at a table overlooking a very languid Norwalk River and ordered the spanish grilled octopus which was nicely done but not particularly bold or fulsome in any flavor. When ordering dinner, I asked the server what he thought of the pasta with mushrooms. He said it came with a lot of mushrooms but it was not his thing. It did not sound fussy, so I rolled the dice. It arrived hot and packed with mushrooms but somewhere between the kitchen and the table, the flavor must have slid off. I hailed someone for some grated cheese and pepper and that helped, but eventually I broke down and asked for some salt. Upon application some of the lost flavor appeared. I decided for 2023 that I would try different restaurants in Norwalk. This was my first "new" restaurant. I reviewed the menu online and it had great selections including the option to get a side order of broccoli rabe. Which is really why I went here. I decided instead of dining in I would do a takeout. When I got to the restaurant it was packed. The atmosphere seemed chic, upscale and the place to have a great date. I was actually sorry I wasn't staying, but thought next time. I was greeted promptly and provided a menu. While I was perusing it, I noticed the broccoli rabe was no longer a side option. I asked a waiter if that was an error. He said because of supply issues it was removed. What a bummer! I then placed my order, Grilled Branzino and Marinated Hanger Steak, which came to $75!!! That's a lot, but it was already 8pm and I wanted to give them a chance. I was told it would take about 20-25 minutes. So. I took a seat in the waiting area. Well.... It took less than 15 minutes and as the waiter was approaching, I could see the bag was way too small and the fact that she had it dangling in one hand it was light in weight too! When I took hold of the bag I knew immediately this was not worth $75! I tried to think positive, but couldn't wait to get home to check. I opened the bag and lo and behold the entrees, shown in this review, were enough to feed a small child! I immediately went to my regular wonderful restaurant to get something worth eating. But, that's not all! When I got home and had a chance to really see the portion size, I was so disappointed. Plus, the Branzino was over cooked and dry. The kale was... well just plain ole kale and the sweet potatoes were under cooked. My husband's Hanger Steak was cooked as requested, but it was nothing I couldn't have cooked at home. His spinach was...well just plain ole spinach and who wants thick cut polenta fries??? To top it off, literally, all of the food had kosher salt laying on the top of it. Who adds heavy salt to food after it's cooked??? That doesn't make any sense, period! This restaurant has potential, but they definitely need to increase the portion size for the price and the chef should spice up the menu and lay off the added salt. In total, with this order and the order from my favorite restaurant, I spent $125 to give you this review. read more

My husband and I went to Siena Norwalk location and I have to say everything about it was fantastic. From the atmosphere to the cocktails and the food was so amazing. The vibe and menu is a bit more eclectic than their Stamford location which is also amazing. Finally a restaurant with good acoustics so you can have a conversation without yelling. The service Pasquale and Pietro offer at both restaurants is second to none and I love how they come around to all the tables to check and see how everyone is enjoying the food. My favorite is the Veal chop Milanese or the wood fired pizza as an appetizer, the grilled octopus is also excellent...
