My daughter's favorite ice cream shop in Boston/Cambridge. Our go-to place during summer. Ice cream is great and staff is friendly.

We got the chocolate and passion fruit scoops - excellent. The passion fruit was nice and tangy. The seeds made it slightly crunchy too. The mango was exceptional but the mascarpone-fig was underwhelming - could barely taste the fig. We went on a Saturday evening and it was crowded but the staff also seemed a bit overwhelmed and confused by the crowd. However, once we put the order in, we got it fairly quick. So, this is a cozy little spot my bestie introduced me to from which one can grab a sweet treat or two (or several). It sits comfortably on the corner of JFK and Winthrop Street, right in the midst of Harvard Square. Which figures because this place is bougie as hell! Just the same, we're eternally grateful to have met its acquaintance. Because this place is the real deal when it comes to macarons. Ya know how some grocery stores sell macarons in a box or something? Yeah, those are basically the generic version compared to the ones sold here. These ones are on another level entirely! We got the variety pack, of course. And so far, my top two personal favorite flavors are the Tiramisú and Chocolate Amorino. The experience tasting these is impossible to describe in words worthy enough to dignify. Let's just say....it's enough to ascend your consciousness into low orbit. The process of ordering is simple enough or strangely foreign (no pun intended), depending on if you're a Zoomer or a Boomer, respectively. They use kiosks. Exclusively. It's a little weird, because there is what appears to be a main register with people standing behind it. Only their main task is to prepare your order and call out your name once it's ready. This is better, IMHO because talking to people is hard (sometimes). I dunno what it is. But most times, it seems easier to get the details of an order right when it's neatly selected and typed out on a screen. Besides, tap-to-pay is where it's at. Oh, and for those of you who are wondering what Gelato is, it's a specific type of Italian ice cream. Without getting into the exact percentages of the various lactose components it's made of, that's the simplest way I can explain it. *Obligatory disclaimer: I am not an ice creamologist. I think this is gonna be our dessert spot whenever we venture back to Cambridge. And next time, I am SO getting my own 12 pack of macarons with my two favorite flavors in it. No doubt about it, Amorino Gelato is worth 5 creamy Tiramisú macarons transcending my cortex beyond the stratosphere out of 5. read more

The last few times I've stopped in here, I quickly get gelato and head out. I will be sticking to that after my experience tonight. My girlfriend and I ordered two of the gourmet hot chocolates with whipped cream and chocolate syrup and it was the description that sold us. Unfortunately, it was one of the BIGGEST letdowns. They tasted alright, but it was literally just hot chocolate. No whipped creams, add-ins, or additions of any sort. We normally wouldn't have worried, but it was $21 for them both, which is insanity...so, we asked for them to be remade. This is where it took a turn. The barista's behavior was completely unacceptable. She rolled her eyes at the request and made it seem like a complete inconvenience-- we were the only ones there. Throughout making our drinks again, she visibly complained and made it very clear that it was not what she wanted to do. The remade drinks weren't even that different and missed most of the components. It was fine, but just not what we ordered at all. A complete waste of $21. Honestly, this is not the first occurrence of subpar service I've had at Amorino (even at other locations), and turns me off from wanting to keep coming, even though I really do enjoy the gelato which earned them a second star. read more

After rolling into Boston with over 100° weather, there was just one thing on our minds: ice cream. My daughter had the inside scoop- literally. She's been living in Boston for about a month now, just long enough to start picking up on where the real gems are and which areas she prefers doing her shopping in. Enter Amorino located in Cambridge, MA. It's comfortable inside, their AC helped, has soft lighting and that smell: sweet, buttery, fruity- it all hits you the second you walk in. But here's the twist: no ordering at the counter. Instead, you can use one of the 3 or 4 self-service stations, tap through your cravings, pay and boom- order is placed. Super easy. A short wait later, someone calls your name and your masterpiece (if you order a cone) is ready. Literally. Even before tasting, you can tell this place means serious gelato business. Each tray of gelato- whether it was freshly filled or already halfway scooped through, looked like it had just come out of churning or something. No crusty edges and the colors popped. I went with the chocolate Amorino and it was everything I wanted. It's gelato- but it almost felt moussey if you know what I mean. It has a deep, rich, cocoa flavor, it's not too sweet and it was satisfying. The waffle cone? Perfectly crisp and sweet. My daughter, who's a certified mango fiend, made a beeline for the mango sorbet. When I had a taste of hers, the mango sorbet tasted JUST like you're eating the fruit. My husband played it smart and went for a mango+raspberry sorbet combo in a cup- tart, sweet, and ultra-refreshing. The service was attentive, even with the self-service system. And the price? Nothing to complain about. Totally worth it for the quality and the flower gelato skills experience. read more

While traipsing through Harvard Square, our minds were on cold. Anything cold. We spotted this gelato spot from down the street, and boy did it hit the spot. The server behind the counter was generous with samples so that we could narrow the many tempting flavors down to our two scoops. Stracciatella was our big winner. While it wasn't as creamy and just a tiny bit icy in spots, it was as cold as we needed in the midst of this summer heat. There's a decently sized and quiet seating area in the adjoining room, with bathrooms to boot. read more

Amorino Gelato was super underwhelming. I'd heard it was a big chain in Europe, so I came in with high hopes, but the flavors were too exaggerated for me. Sweet was way too sweet and tart was way too tart. The one highlight is that you can stack flavors to try a bunch at once, but overall, not a place I'd come back to. read more

This was just alright. There was nothing special about the flavors or the service. There is some seating. Only one guy working so it takes a bit for everyone to get their gelato served. I tried the more fruity flavors. Passionfruit was tart. I did not like the orange as it tasted more like a creamsicle. The raspberry and strawberry were the better tasting flavors. read more

It's 2025 - why are we still having to ask servers to use gloves or a utensil to handle food? The server - he sounded Italian - was snarky when I asked him to use gloves to handle my cone. I got gelato to go. The chocolate hazelnut is good. The pistachio is just OK. Both had ice crystals in them like it wasn't fresh. The cone was stale tasting. For a $9 cup of gelato and cone it was over priced and underwhelming. The shop is cute. They have lots of flavors - gelato and sorbet. read more

Cute little gelato shop, love that it's open late. Service is a gen z dream, you can order and pay at one of the kiosks with minimal human interaction. They recommend getting at least 3 flavors, but this means you should really think about how the flavors will go together. The cream/milk flavors were delicious, mascarpone and fig and blueberry cheesecake were phenomenal. The fruity sorbets were intense. The passion fruit tasted super real and was on the tart side. Located near Harvard Square, we strolled around and came upon this dessert haven. They have a ton of flavors to choose from, and they give out samples if requested. It wasn't crowded when I came, so we didn't have an issue perusing the selection, which includes desserts beyond gelato. We went with the dulce de leche and the hazelnut, both of which were packed with flavor. One scoop as a bigger scoop than others, but I am happy to get a little extra, just noting it wasn't consistent. This is my first time here. First, the gelato was beautifully presented, resembling a flower on a cone. Second, it tastes great--not overly sweet. Third, the prices are comparable to Cold Stone. The only downside is that it melts quickly, but that might just be the heat outside. read more

Absolute 5.0 star out of 5 stars. Great flavors and selection. Limited seating but clean bathroom. Conveniently located near Harvard. Highly recommended by the locals too. Our whole family loves GELATO. We went to great lengths to try different gelato including in the Little Italy district in Boston, but this Amorino Gelato beats them for sure. A little pricey as expected for the location. One of the staff seems pretty new and made some simple honest mistakes on our order, but made good for it. She is friendly and sincere, so I wouldn't hold it against her. Just wanted to share this so other customers will feel liberated to correct their own orders, if needed. Came here for an after dinner treat on a Sunday and the line to get gelato was quick as we were the only ones waiting. They have a good selection of gelato, however they were out of the seasonal flavor they were promoting (tiramisu) which was a little disappointing. The gelato itself I feel was super icy and not as soft as it should be. The flower I also ordered wasn't as delicately made as other Amorino locations I've been to which was a little disappointing. I do like how you can have an unlimited amount of flavors though. The price was pretty high for the quantity of dessert I got, although that's likely due to the novelty of it looking relatively nice - I probably wouldn't return after this first visit. read more
