After dinner, my friends and I wanted some rice cream. When we looked up a nearby place, Amorino Gelato ended up being around the corner. We we walked inside the restaurant, the smell of gelato and waffles was in the air. There were a lot of people inside so we figured it must be good. I ordered the waffle w/ powdered sugar, tiramisu gelato, and coffee gelato. It was delicious!!!! Once ready, it was brought to my table with great presentation. The waffle was crispy and golden brown on the outside, while being fluffy and airy on the inside. I will definitely be back! read more

Visited with my family of 7 for Father's Day. This is in the heart of downtown Raleigh so parking may be a challenge. Great location with a cute and modern vibe. Kiosks for order taking removes the personal experience. The gelato is excellent and may be best in area. Very pricey though. We had 2 cups, 3 cones, and 2 drinks and the tab came to $78. This place is fantastic! It was within walking distance of my restaurant and an amazing choice to finish the night. The selection is delicious, including vegan options. The service is quick and professional. The ambiance is chill yet a bit upscale. The gelato and sorbetti presentation is second to none! I got a cone with three flavors (no extra charge) and it was arranged in a rose shape, which was so unique. This place was entirely busy late at night when we went. It did take a few minutes but overall service was great! It's amazing how they shape the gelato into a rose and top it with a macaron. They had so many flavors and options. My husband got a milkshake which he said was okay but the gelato cone is definitely the star. !! read more

I had a craving for some ice cream while I was on my break at work in downtown Raleigh and this place came up in my search! Let me tell you, this was sooooo much better than ice cream! So smooth, creamy, and flavorful! The wait time wasn't too bad considering how packed this place was and the staff were very friendly as well. This place looks like it belongs in the city. It has so many flavors. Gluten free gelato filled macarons too. They have other things too that - like coffee. It's located in downtown Raleigh. I wish I lived closer. Four stars only because it is expensive. read more

I was excited to try this gelato place because I heard they had vegan options, but the experience was very upsetting. I had to repeat myself at least five times before the employee understood that I specifically wanted to sample the vegan flavors. She seemed frustrated with me and was very rude throughout the interaction. As someone who is autistic, I felt like her attitude was dismissive and ableist. I nearly walked out several times, but I loved the pistachio flavor, so I decided to stay. I also didn't realize that unlimited flavors in one cup were included at the same price. When I politely asked if I could have just a teeny tiny spoonful of raspberry along with my pistachio, she cut my pistachio serving in half instead, and then scooped even less than half back into the cup with raspberry. In the end, I paid over $6 for a very small cup, and because I asked for a little raspberry, I actually ended up with less gelato overall. On top of that, she kept arguing with me about the difference between gelato and sorbet when all I asked was to try the vegan flavors. She was combative, impatient, and unkind. Some people simply should not work in customer service. This experience almost made me cry. I was just visiting Raleigh, trying to have a nice morning, and this ruined it. I love vegan pistachio gelato, but I won't be coming back. Frankly, it was a rip off. read more

We had such a fun time at Amorino Gelato! The place is both chic and super welcoming to kids, which is a big plus for us. They have a ton of amazing flavors, and the staff is so friendly, and no nuts those with a nut allergy, another big plus for us. They encourage you to taste test, which I loved. One of my kids got the raspberry gelato with a chocolate macaron on top, and the other one went for milk chocolate gelato plus a cheesecake macaron. Everything was delicious and not overly sweet. I personally got half chocolate hazelnut (which basically tastes like Nutella, shoutout yo the server who told me this!) and half coconut, which was so smooth and refreshing. I added a vanilla macaron on top just for fun. Overall, it's a fun spot to visit if you're downtown. Parking can be a little tricky, but we managed to find a spot right out front. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

What an incredible experience. The service was quick and the young ladies were very knowledgeable of the menu. The Gelato was perfect! Surprisingly, you get a large amount on such a small cone! Great selections of gelato. Too many choices but since I do love coffee flavored ice cream i choose that. Very creamy, but the "coffee bean tasted more like a chocolate flavor. I'm not too mad about it but just wish that they use candied coffee. read more

The gelato tasted amazing and was very fairly priced for the quality. There's a great variety of sweet flavors to choose from, and the pistachio macaron was a standout. This place blew me away! One of the best gelato places I've been to. I tried the macarons and that first bite, was magical. The gelato middle and the flavor options, were also maybe the best macarons I've had. I also ordered an espresso and made my own affogato. They make flower designs in the gelato which I thought was wonderful. And the service was above and beyond. When you walk in, there are self-service kiosks available for you to place your order. Once order is place they fulfill it and call your name. The is a nice seating area with plenty of sunlight. The guy who waited on us was friendly and incredibly helpful. He even offered to pack our to go quart size gelato in ice for us. We both enjoyed our picks. A must try. read more

This is a great place to go for an out-of-the-box dessert experience. I had the gelato macarons (vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and coconut mango lime). the coconut mango lime was my favorite. It was such a nice balance and punch of flavor. The gelato filling was yummy and refreshing on a hot day. Seating inside is limited. There were kiosks for ordering once you entered with limited space. Luckily they were not that busy when I went. I would get dessert from here again. read more

We were in town with my adult kids who were seeing a concert at the Amphitheater. It was a hot night, so husband and I decided to grab some gelato while they were there. Amorino is in the downtown area, not too far from where we were staying. They have some really great flavor choices and gelato really hit the spot! The inside is cozy and they have water jugs set up with cups. The scoops are large portions. So glad we each chose small! They are very generous with tastings and scoop sizes, which is great. We each tried a small, and you can mix two flavors. This is really good gelato! If you are in the area, be sure to give Amorino a try! read more

Gelato is so good and worth the wait!! The dulce de leche and tiramisu were so flavorful but not overly sweet. We're visiting Raleigh and just randomly popped into this gelato shop on a whim. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and inviting. The sweet young woman that helped us at the counter allowed my toddler to try a few different "colors" until she found exactly what she wanted. I greatly appreciated the extra effort. I will travel again to Raleigh JUST for this gelato--I'm not joking. My colleagues and I were there for a conference this past week--we went there all 5 days. I would have gone twice a day, but they open at noon and I cannot justify have two grande cups at 6pm then again at 8pm . The staff was professional, friendly, and make a killer espresso! First time trying affogato--I. Need. More. The ambiance was relaxing, warm and comfy. Despite waiting in line for 35 mins, the gelato is excellent. Service is super slow, incredibly busy in a Sunday afternoon, but there's a reason people wait is out, I never saw anyone leave the line either. Also one of the pricier gelato places I've been to. They have an array of options here. Usual, cup and cone. Then they do gelato macarons! A bunch of flavors , I got the mango, caramel, citrus and verbena and chocolate. Nice crunch and the gelato softens it a little, but really good and the flavors you can actually tell what they are. Something different. They also do gelato sundaes, crepes, waffles, Coffee drinks. With a really nice seating area inside and some outside. This place is definitely hopping in the sweltering heat. Great place downtown Raleigh, nice friendly staff, just be prepared for a wait on weekends in the summer. read more

Don't get the waffle because she literally pulled it out from somewhere pre-made and just heated it up ... BUT the chocolate hazelnut gelato was PERFECTION. If you love Nutella, you'll love that flavor. I'll be coming back specifically for that one. Milk + cookies gelato was a no-go for me, but the cinnamon biscotto gelato was another good one I recommend! Absolutely beautiful place!! Love!! read more

A cute dessert spot in the downtown area of Raleigh! If you're going late at night or during peak hours, parking can be hard to come by. You may have to park a block or two but the walk is worth it! I stopped by on a weekend while visiting a friend in the area. I ordered a large chocolate with salted caramel. Both were super tasty! It is pricey for the amount but it is good. I also ordered the macaroons but I wasn't a huge fan of them. Customer service could be better but it was busy though. read more

Great little place for gelato, but keep in mind prices are on a high end here. Large cup of ice cream is 7.25. We split a maxi cup (12.95!) between two people and it was just right. Nice thing about it is they can stuff it with as many flavors as you wish. If you get a cone they will it up with I guess slices of ice cream which looks like a flower, very creative (and I imagine also messy since it melts quickly so we skipped that option). We chose passion fruit, pistachio, dulce de leche and chocolate and loved absolutely each and every flavor. Very rich and creamy, full of flavor. They also have a selection of tea and hot chocolate available (5 or 6 types of each), coffee of course, and freshly made Belgian waffles, crepes, as well as macarons. Certainly will be back here to try waffles as I saw someone ordered it and it looked phenomenal. And oh, last thing to add, during workdays street parking is not free around this place. read more

These picture were taken before a huge rush of customers (family of 8) entered! It's January and some might think that gelato is too cold due to the weather, but this place is absolutely amazing! As a resident of this town, this is an absolute staple! I bring anyone that ever visits Raleigh to Amorino! This place is great for family visits, midnight snacks or even a small date night! Gelato is superb but there is no service! Every time we are in town we drop in but this time we were greeted by 3 large screens to place our order while the staff stood behind the counter to each other. After placing the order for a cup of gelato- an easy task-too many choices and can't seem to add more than one cup/cone at a time, the screen prom you to select a tip amount. This is the BEST gelato in Raleigh. Amorino typically has a line and the moment you try their gelato, you understand why. The gelato here is creamy and I've never had a flavor that wasn't amazing. I highly recommend that everyone try the blueberry cheesecake. The mango, coconut, and hazelnut chocolate are also great. read more

Our ice creams and sorbets are turbinated daily in compliance with the Italian tradition, under the eyes of our leaders . Our recipes are accompanied by a maturing time allowing each flavor refining and allows time for each perfume to assert its own character. We use organic free range eggs, whole milk of high quality. There was also a proper bar with both a bartender and barstool seating if you wanted to pull up a stool and enjoy a beverage. The entire facility was clean and well maintained, including the restrooms, which were well stocked during our visit. The outdoor patio was especially nice, with a mix of shaded and sunny seating areas. While we were there, a local dog rescue was hosting an adoption event where visitors could meet puppies. It was fun to see families, kids, and adults enjoying the event, and the dog-friendly patio made the atmosphere even more welcoming. If you're visiting Raleigh with a group or simply can't decide what you're in the mood to eat, Morgan Street Food Hall is an excellent option thanks to its variety, clean facilities, and inviting atmosphere.

I can't recall what was in the hummus but we practically licked the bowl and the wings were a big hit too - note the Durham menu is a bit scaled down but one thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus. There is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park - plenty of WARM pita for everyone. Service was great, we did't wait long and the tables were turned over quickly. Parking can be a bit challenging as you'll either need to find street parking or in a open lot near by. The restaurant itself is located in a historic building that once was a funeral home and also was also a tax practice in a different chapter. The restaurant feels very upscale but there isn't a strict dress code. The kitchen is open as well if yo prefer to sit along the kitchen and watch the chefs cook. When you order you'll have to place everything at the same time but they'll pace it out to your table. For drinks, I ordered the In Gold Blood (Bourbon, amaro, Fino sherry, banana, golden raisin) and the head in the clouds (Vodka, Falernum, strawberry, pistachio). Both drinks were excellent and extremely easy to drink. You'll definitely want to start with the sourdough bread, NC Oysters (Roasted NC oysters, chili butter, preserved lemon gremolata), and fried NC shrimp (Fried NC shrimp, buried garlic aioli, pickled green tomatoes). All of the appetizers were excellent in their own way. The bread and butter just complemented each other so well, the oysters were well balanced and almost seared where they weren't chargrilled but partially still raw, and the fried nc shrimp has a nice contrast of flavor with the pickled green tomatoes and fried shrimp. For the entree we split the Prime-aged Delmonico (ribeye; and was served in a red wine jus, and topped with sea salt and peppercorn). The steak fell apart as you bit into it. For sides, we ordered the crispy potatoes (Crispy potatoes, Italian chili crisp, piquillo peppers) and Brussel sprouts (Embered Brussels sprouts, apples, lardon vinaigrette, almonds). The steak and potatoes were definitely my favorite. The Brussel sprouts were good but a bit on the salad side where they were still a little hard. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake (Basque cheesecake, strawberry compote, olive oil shortbread) and the Sticky Toffee Pudding (Sticky toffee pudding, embered vanilla ice cream, benne seed brittle). The sticky toffee pudding was so warm and was excellent. The cheesecake also had a nice balance of flavor and the strawberry compote combination worked perfectly. This is by far one of my favorite meals I've had in Raleigh and you definitely need to go here if you are in the area.

While the food left me somewhat underwhelmed, the cocktails were exceptional, among the best I've had in recent memory. The standout was the Over/Under, a beet-infused gin take on a Negroni. Absolutely phenomenal. The earthy beet notes were subtle but present, complementing the bitterness of the Campari, the floral qualities of the gin, and just enough sweetness to tie everything together. Every cocktail I tried was excellent, but this was the clear winner. As for the food, it never quite reached the same heights. The beef tartare was the best dish I had all evening. In fact, I found myself enjoying it more on the accompanying sourdough bread than on the rice crisps it was served with, which ultimately justified ordering the bread. The "pickled egg yolk" was an inventive twist, essentially replacing both the raw egg and cornichons found in a traditional French tartare. Clever in concept, but the pickling process seemed to sacrifice some of the creamy richness that the dish could have benefited from. The rice crisp accompaniment is also part of a trend I've noticed at several restaurants and one I'm not particularly sold on. They're usually too brittle to hold much tartare and often end up scattered across the plate. I find they work better crushed into the tartare itself than as a delivery vehicle. The oysters were the biggest disappointment of the meal. Heavily drenched in butter, they felt one-dimensional, with the lemon zest providing the only real counterbalance. To be fair, this is likely intended as a shared dish, and as a solo diner consuming the entire portion myself, the richness may have become more pronounced than intended. The gnocchi delivered deep, satisfying flavor and were impressively light, though perhaps a touch too soft for my personal preference. As I glanced over at the roast chicken being served to the couple next to me, a sense of ordering regret began to creep in. What ultimately elevates Death & Taxes is its hospitality. The service was genuinely five-star. Every dish was explained thoughtfully as it was delivered, and the bar team struck that perfect balance of attentiveness and conversation, making a solo diner feel completely welcome. Their warmth and professionalism raised this experience from a three-star meal to a four-star evening. And they are all 5 star.

Pricy for one cookie, but they do look pretty and are packaged well so they make a great gift. The rotating weekly menu is exciting, but the cookies are not very flavorful so they taste similar. Even the guava cookie had a very faint fruity flavor and mainly tasted like sugar. Many times I have noticed that the unique flavors are just in the frosting not the cookie itself. I understand having a weekly changing menu is challenging, but there is room for improvement on their flavors. The cookies are all perfectly baked and decorated beautifully.
