#24. Raspanieve with strawberry jam ice cream
    Jiyoung S.

This is one of my favorite ice cream places in Triangle. I always forget what my go-to order is at La Michoacana, so I decided to leave a Yelp review for me to refer back to for my next visit. #24 Raspanieve with strawberry jam.... is life changing. You have to choose an ice flavor, but that is not that important in my opinion. Strawberry jam ice cream by itself is fantastic, but it tastes better with shaved ice! Service is fast enough. Each order, if you take a look at the menu, is quite elaborative unless you are ordering something simple. So the wait can take some time, but it's no biggie. There are lots of seating areas outside and inside as well. There are paper towels everywhere in case you drop ice cream everywhere like me. There are cute statues and decorations everywhere outside, and they are fun to look at. The outdoor seating area could be a little bit more clean. I will see you next time, La Michoacana!

This business sells a variety of desserts and treats such as banana splits, ice cream, and shakes. There were several tables inside and outside of the business. They have a very extensive menu of items that you can buy. I brought a strawberry shake that was topped with a piece of cheesecake with strawberry topping, whipped cream, and vanilla wafers. The way that the dessert is prepared made it hard to carry the dessert outside without fear of dropping something. The clerk was nice and provided me with foil to deconstruct my dessert. I ended up eating the desserts separately and having different desserts later. The cost for the shake with toppings was $15.

La Michoacana is a unique Mexican ice cream shoppe in the Midtown area of North Raleigh. It's tucked away on St Albans inside of an unassuming strip mall that features Latin eateries and bakeries. You can't miss the yard with all of the unique animals, Mexican flags, and ice cream decor. I was craving a refreshing ice cream after perusing the State Farmers Market. I wanted Latin style shaved ice. Upon arrival I took my time to peruse the menu and was greeted. I decided on the #24 Raspanieve. Raspanieve is a Mexican dessert consisting of shaved ice, flavored syrup, and sometimes fresh fruit and ice cream. Its very rich and dense and refreshingly cold for a hot day. The young lady at the counter was very beautiful and offered excellent customer service. She smiled and was kind enough to share with me all of the flavors. You must choose 1 flavor for the shaved ice and 1 flavor for the ice cream. I spent some time in the adorable yard that features a cute playground, and lots of outdoor seating. Once prepared I received a humongous cup of shaved ice topped with coconut ice cream. My family is from Jamaica, so coconut ice cream is a favorite of mine. This ice cream was some of the best I've had in a while. Huge coconut shavings ! The mango flavored shaved ice was so crunchy and cold ! This combination with the condensed milk is paradise in a cup. You can share this because it's so much for the value ! They are not skimpy and give you a lot of dessert . They also take their time making your cup beautiful. For the Quality and large portions you receive here, the price is just right ! I ordered a small which is actually a large for $9.73. It's not cheap but nothing worth having is in life. Pura Vida !

First time here: a kid's paradise. Lots of animals and stuff to play on outside, a decent number of tables inside too. Lively Mexican music. The kid's ice cream treat photos are down where they can see them and easily pick what they want. Cups are Ice cream mixed with candy. Ice cream very good, especially cookies and cream. It was better than my milkshake which seemed a little watery. Yes a great place to take family. The tab for these three cups about $25.

My son had the Superman cup. 2 scoops of Superman ice cream with gummy bears on the bottom, sprinkles on top, and adorned with a lollipop. What a treat! This is a uniquely colorful, fun, and lively spot!

Lots of options to chose from. The menu was a little confusing if you haven't gone there before. There are a lot of pictures for the menu. Service was good. The ladies were kind. There are places to hang out outside, and a few tables inside. Some of the Ice cream just tasted like it had been frozen for a bit past its prime :(

I have been here a few times, and I really do like the ice cream. I prefer here over BR because I some of the ice cream choices are more flavorful. I will say that most of the signage is in Spanish, and not all of the staff are fluent in English, but they do have picture menus hanging from the ceiling. And Google works so you can look up what is inside. I will be sure to visit here a few more times. #469

    Ice cream, you scream

Ice cream, you scream... This is a little hidden gem tucked away off busy Wake Forest Rd. Raleigh doesn't have a shortage of dessert places, but I somehow hadn't heard of this spot. It reminds me of La Vida Dulce in Cary and Knightdale. The outside is bright with lots of animal carvings strewn around a small play area for kids. You won't miss the giant polar bear! There are about 10 parking spots in a small lot in front of the building (unsure what they do on busy summer nights). Upon walking inside you're greeted with lots of bright colors and a very large menu to choose from. (I was a bit overwhelmed.) Oddly, prices aren't listed anywhere, but my items seemed reasonably priced when added up. Look up to see a menu which has photos of the items, helpful given there is so much to choose from... ice cream, milkshakes (some crazy ones with a full piece of cheesecake on top), popsicles, frozen ice, churro sundaes, banana splits and more. The young lady who was working was very friendly and sweet. This would be a good spot for a family with kids, or even a date night. I'll be back to sample more from their menu.

    Strawberries and cream drink

I want to give a 3.5 but unfortunately no half star options. So for starters the menu is overwhelming it's about 54 options to choose from , not including the ice cream on display and other frozen treats. What I didn't like was no prices were posted. My drink was considering a small and was $12 and some change , the large size was $17 and some change. Overpriced if you ask me. The drink was ok , the strawberries in it weren't fully ripe. Only had one person working behind the corner and for a nice day outside the place can get a little busy. Outside in front of the store they had a lot of decorations and picnic tables to sit at. I've been to viva dolce in knightdale and this place lacks in comparison to them. Hey have to give some places a try one time and keep it moving.

First time there today , was delicious. Wish they have price on their menu. The sapote fruit popsicle was really good too, forgot to take pictures

Two Scoops -- Vanilla and Strawberry Jam
    Kellie D.

This place was amazing. You could stand inside all day reading the descriptions of the unique treats and looking at the pictures, as well as taking in all the popsicles, ice cream flavors and sorbet. It was overwhelming-- hard to decide. So, for my first visit I went simple with two scoops of ice cream in a cup -- vanilla and strawberry jam. Both flavors were good, though the vanilla almost had a little coconut aftertaste. Every description was in Spanish and English which was nice. The only weird thing was that there were no prices anywhere! However, two scoops of ice cream were reasonable at around $5. I vow to be more adventurous next time I go back!

This is such a fun ice cream spot! Saying the menu is huge is an understatement. You could try something new everyday for months! I had the banana split and it was delicious! The ice cream choices were so unique and full of flavor! The staff was nice and friendly as well. The location has a really cute entrance as well.

What a magical place. When I imagine an ice cream shop this is what I want to see. A family run and operated shop that is geared towards bringing smiles to people's faces. The owner has built a playground out from for kids to play on so their children can not only enjoy their ice cream and treats but also get some time to play! The ice cream is house made and there are some many delicious and wonderful flavors! Milkshakes, ice cream, macarons, and so much more! It's amazing! Everyone was so extremely friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for an amazing ice cream shop to take your family, this is 100% the place to go.

I don't know if it was because they were busy on Sunday (5/31/26) or what, but I did not enjoy my ice cream at all. I ordered the Carolina Concrete (vanilla frozen custard with M&Ms, Oreos, and hot fudge). The signature is literally in the name -- concrete -- but mine was terrible. From what I understand, it's supposed to be fresh frozen custard served upside down because it's thick and frozen, but mine was far from that. It was served the regular way, and the custard was basically liquid. I also ordered my dad's plain vanilla frozen custard. The lady helping us was sweet, but she mentioned they only had certain frozen custards available at the moment, which was disappointing. I feel like there should've been a sign letting customers know that beforehand. When I questioned my order and mentioned what the sign described the Carolina Concrete to be, the employee did offer to remake it, which I appreciated. But honestly, I shouldn't have had to ask for something to be made correctly the first time when I paid for it. I'm not sure what was going on, but it felt like they weren't prepared for the Sunday crowd on a hot day. And no -- before anyone assumes it melted because of the weather -- I ate it inside my car with the A/C on, not outside. One thing I'll always give them credit for is the atmosphere. The outside seating area is still really nice, especially with the fountain, and it looks beautiful at night with the lights. I'll probably know moving forward to visit during less busy times or later in the evening instead.

Not a single soul had a glove on. They also placed the tongs they were picking candies up with directly on top of the glass counter where customers were leaning instead of in the holding dish that it should've been in. I wasn't getting any ice cream at that point, but my fiancé still did because he's the greedy type. Nothing turns him off, clearly. Even the ice cream dripping down the cup onto the guy who made it's hands wasn't enough to turn his stomach. The guy didn't even wash his hands once. None of them did. They just kept touching counters, cones, making ice cream, answering handing it to customers. DISGUSTING!!!! When we got to the register to pay, the cashier (possibly the owner) dug out his own wallet to give us change. It was weird. But anywho. I won't be back.
