I contacted a few locksmiths to fix a door latch that wasn't really opening all the way at around 3pm today. AMP Locksmith contacted me within 5 minutes of sending out a message through Yelp. Got quoted an estimate over the phone. Other companies ended up contacting me an hour or so afterwards with estimates over $50 what AMP Locksmith quoted me for so I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for the evening. The locksmith called to say he was running late since he got stuck in traffic (which is understandable at 5pm on the 5 Freeway). He came in, looked at the problem and fixed it within 10-15 minutes. Total price rip off. Needed four locks replaced (top and bottom on front and back door) and on the phone asked for metal sliders for the house doors as well. Asked the guy about the Yelp coupon before he started servicing and said he would put the discount on it, no need to buy the coupon off Yelp and ended up not doing that for us. Guy didn't bring the metal sliders to us and had to leave and buy them, then couldn't put them on himself-- but still charged us $35 EACH for them (that's $70 extra dollars for two $5-10 metal sliders that we still had to put on ourselves!!!!!)!!! Also ended up trying to short the job and only did the two tops with the same key on both doors and the two bottom locks of both doors and still charged for him to fix his mistake. Don't expect a fair price, don't ask the people to fix mistakes they make without expecting attitude and short-handed work/ charging you extra for work you have to do yourself. I'd look elsewhere, truth be had, if you want help rekeying your home doors. read more
