I posted a very negative review of this company earlier today, based on something that was communicated to me at the point of sale. I was told that if I relocated to an area to which they do not offer service that I could terminate the contract at no charge, however when I called to do so, the person I spoke to wanted to enforce the $1,500 contract termination fee. I was just contacted by a very nice man named Tyler Gunnell at AMP Smart who apologized for the experience and agreed to waive the termination fee based on the promises made by the sales rep. We have called numerous times about this door bell that does not record, ring after the person is in house. We were told by our sales person that if we moved we would be able to cancel our contract if the new owners weren't interested in taking over the contact for the security system. When we called to cancel they wanted to charge us over $1000 or charge us $100 to move it. We decided to have them move it. They setup an apt for Dec. 19th. No one showed up. When we called they told us the soonest a tech could come out would be on Dec 23rd. We told them that we were no longer in possession of the home. A developer bought the property and took possession on the 19th. They would not work with us, provide us any information in writing about the decisions they were making regarding the contract. We feel lied to and they were unwilling to make it right. We feeled scammed. The camera's rarely worked and the alarm was easily triggered by normal movement in the home so we had many false alarms. Customer service was horrible. They don't deserve 1 star. Very dishonest company. I'm going to report them to the Better Business bureau. read more

I am very dissatisfied with my service. I have been a customer for some time, & had a burglary. That's when I found out that my motion sensor in the garage wasn't working. I sat in the house for 4 hrs waiting on a technician. He was a no show, no call. The next day I got another 4 hour window & the tech was here for about an hour. Left here & I discovered the camera was offline. I called again & spent more time on the phone getting that set-up. The app keeps telling me my back door is open, when it isn't. It keeps reading a low battery for the motion detector, so now when I leave home I don't know if the house is really secure or will I have a repeat of what happened before if someone decides to break in. I see that one lady received a phone call with an apology, all I got was another 4 hour appointment window where I don't know if anyone is going to show up. read more

75% of the time the equipment doesn't even work and won't connect to your phone. So now we just pay $70/month for absolutely nothing; just a piece for equipment in the wall. To top it off, it costs hundreds of dollars to cancel your service which of course the sales guy somehow didn't mention when he was twisting our arm into signing up. I had two guys come to my door. They started off by saying how my sign was old and how a robber would feed off an old system. Then asked how much I paid and said that could add so much and it wouldn't cost me anymore. I brought up the possibility of moving and they said that would be free to move the system. I also said that I never have to pay for a tech to come out if we had issues and they said that's within my price I wouldn't either. This is all INCORRECT. There is no age to a sign, my system was not outdated, they charge a minimum of $99 to move and that would be removing all equipment and leaving holes or could be free but I would have to resign another long contract, when I did have issues it was a service charge of $25 to come out. I also left one weekend and came home to my system beeping but I was never called regarding to a possible issue. It cost me $1250 to cancel my account but I would rather do that than give them over 3k in payments until the end of my contract and all the extra for moving the system and fixing it when needed. I regret ever leaving ADT. ..... I wrote this review while being on hold as they processed my request. They came back and said that he started the process and it will cancel once the funds went through. I have already received an email from my bank regarding the charges but he said it won't cancel till they get notified. He also said there was a pending payment from the 20th (which it is the 30th today and my bank showed a withdrawal on the 20th) and I will be charged that $61 monthly charge and the $1250 for canceling. They can't even pro-rate me for my mid of the month canceling and my system not working correctly. The man ended up hanging up on me. They love to take your money but can't give you a system that works and honest employees. With in a few days I did get a call from the VP of customer service and he truly apologized and explained to me his plan to correct things for the company and how he wants correct things with me. By the end of the phone call he did make things better on my end and I believe if he does what he says he is going to do for the company it will make it better for their customer relations in the long run. read more

The team was very professional, knowledgeable and efficient. I am very happy with my system. Controlling door locks, cameras and my thermostat make life a little bit easier and more in control. I like having the ability and peace of mind to control things in the home and be notified if anything is out of the ordinary. It's an added bonus the convenience that comes from being able to control my home from anywhere. This is an update on our previous post. Jason McRae has been hired to revamp the company in customer satisfaction. He has sent out a repair person to change some things, and to make the cameras work as they were supposed to. Mr. McRae listened about pushy sales people and how honesty is truly the best policy. I do hope they do this and I think this company could go far. No one likes things hidden and I know sales are important but if the sales people would realize who really would get the system and not use sneaky tactics, people would sign up. I told Mr McCrae all of this and he agreed. So for the present I have changed my review to five stars. read more

They allow their sales people to bang on your door at 8:30 at night, waking babies. Clearly have zero respect for people.

Their sales reps are overly agressive and barged their way into my house, attempting their pitch on my teenaged son. I came home to my front door wide open and two men standing in my kitchen talking to my son who was incredibly shaken and confused. When I told them to leave they did and while apologizing saying that they did not know that my son was not supposed to let them in. As if people encourage their children to allow strangers in their house. They then moved on to my neighbors house. My neighbor clearly has a no soliciting sign, which he pointed out to the reps, but they continued with be their pitch. Not exactly a trustworthy company if they allow their sales reps to push there way into homes, work their sales pitch on a minors, and completely disregard no soliciting signs when making their sales pitch. read more

AMP Smart Security is a scam. They over promise, under deliver, and their services do not work as sold to the customer. It is a bait and switch, and once you are signed up the termination fees are around $1,800. Canceling is extremely difficult to even discuss with someone. Took 3 months to actually connect with their "customer loyalty" department and they were not helpful at all in resolving anything. Just gave me excuses as to why their product didn't have to work and they were still somehow uphold their end of the contract. My doorbell hasn't worked for months and they expect me to buy extra things to make THEIR equipment work. I was robbed in front of my house and because their services work about 25% of the time for our home the doorbell camera did not record. Even the police were questioning what kind of security company I was with when they didn't have the footage they needed to catch the guy. They already had lawsuits against them in other states. Please do not fall for this scam. HORRIBLE company! read more

This company is hot garbage. We were duped into a 5 year contract with AMP about 2 years ago. Same story as many others, a pushy sales guy convinced us to sign up, they had techs out at our house installing everything until 9:30pm that night. Since the beginning, the service and the equipment has been terrible. Our cameras have never worked properly, either not recording when they should be (ie. someone standing on our porch RIGHT in front of the camera) or recording when they shouldn't and using up all our clips for the month. That was another thing, we were never told about the video clip limit. You can purchase additional clips, but what sense does that make when you're already paying $70/mth. So our cameras will catch rain falling in the middle of the night for hours and use up our monthly clip allotment and not record any activity for the rest of the month. Really great security...We have adjusted the camera settings 100 times to no avail. The customer service with this company is a complete JOKE. I will preface this by saying that every rep I have spoken to on the phone has been nice. My issues are with the turnaround time for a response from customer service and with the actual tech that came out when we had a problem with our equipment. I had sent an email to customer service about faulty equipment needing repair with no response for days. Then I sent a follow up request asking what the turnaround time is for customer service and I magically got a call that day. I also called to inquire about canceling our contract early. I was told that someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours with a response and a quote since it depends on where you are in your contract. Kind of weird they can't just look and do the math and tell me, but ok. I waited over a week and nothing.... I called back and finally got someone to talk to me about it. She apologized for the delay, saying she was on vacation...is there only ONE person in the WHOLE company who can handle a cancelation quote request??? About a month ago we had to have a tech come out to fix our front door keyless entry lock that kept sticking (leaving us locked out of the front door several times). The tech was there about 5 minutes, loosened a couple screws and said it seems fine and left. Well lo and behold, a month later it is sticking again! (By the way, you're charged $35 anytime their crappy equipment fails and they have to come fix it.) I spoke with customer service today to have a tech come back out to fix it properly or replace it, and asked to have a different tech. Well, apparently there is only ONE technician for half the state of Florida. AND he only services our busy metropolitan area one day a week! A company that charges what they do for their services should have more technicians available on more than just a Monday afternoon between noon and 4. The level of unprofessionalism I've witnessed with this company is ridiculous considering what we pay monthly for this service. We plan to break our contract at the end of the year. I'm sure that will be an ABSOLUTE JOY trying to get that task done with these people. Stay far far away from AMP. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! I signed a contract 5 years ago. The camera went out multiple times, the last time I asked for someone to come out to fix it, they wanted to charge me just to come out. I declined to pay and they stated they would send someone as a courtesy. No one ever showed up! I called back in January to cancel my service only to be told my contract was until July. Ok fine, I call this month and was told my contract is canceled. I asked for something in writing, the lady puts me on hold, only to come back and say your husband has to cancel because his name is on the account. She said the Loyalty dept would call him within 1-3 business days. They call my husband on the third business day only to say that they have renewed out contract for another year because we did not put anything into writing. I called twice to cancel and you extend my contract?!? My husband declined the contract stating we do not want to extend and that we are unhappy with the service. The guy tells my husband he is over the company and there is nothing else to do. I have never seen such poor professionalism with a company. All they want to do is take your money for a service they cannot even afford to keep up. read more

When we moved into our home in Union, KY in November of 2018, we were asked if we would like to continue the current alarm service at the home. We were told it was $28.99 per month. AMP called and emailed us repeatedly at that time while we were just trying to move into our new home. I agreed to continue the alarm system. We were told that a technician could come to our home at the earliest of January, 2019 - 2 months later. Begrudgingly, we accepted that, set up a passcode and asked that they call us to make the appointment. We were not told of an exact date. In January of 2018, a technician did show up at our home, however we were not home at the time because no one gave us any warning. I told AMP that this was unacceptable, but they did not make another appointment in January 2019 and to this date December of 2020 have not yet had a technician come to our home. This of course made me question the decision that we had made. We had not received any bills at that time, so we decided this service may not be for us. I had no idea what kind of mess this company would cause for us. With no resolution from AMP and still no technician to set up our system, our old system sat idle. Until the alarm began to sound. And the fire trucks began to show up at our home. We called AMP to use our passcode that we initially set up, which we were told was invalid. The firemen stood in our home trying to disengage the alarm for several hours. Our children were attempting to do their homework during this time when a screaming alarm was going off in our home, wasting the time of firemen. Since it was after hours at this time, we called the next day trying to sort it out. My husband spoke with AMP, and they advised us, "Well... what do you expect?" when we asked why our passcode was not valid. Around a year ago, our system appeared to be disconnected, with the screen black. So we assume, no service was rendered during this time. We told AMP we did not want to do business any longer. They referenced a contract which I had signed on December 20, 2018. This contract has no length of time addressed. The term is left blank. No beginning date, no ending date. It only advises that the system was first installed in 2016 and that we would take over payments of $28.99. Vague answers or not even answering us at all, when we tried to address this with AMP. We were never told how long this contract was to be paid. In two years, we've never had a technician come back out to set up the system. We've tried to return the equipment, with no response. We wrote "cancel service" on statements. We only received a few statements for something around $300. I mailed them back with notes, saying to reference our continuing problems with this company, or that our service was shut off, so why were they continuing to add monthly charges? Upon calling AMP to discuss the statements I was receiving, I advised the person calling me that I would never, in any circumstances, pay a penny to this company. Even the person I was speaking with, agreed with my decision, knowing exactly what I was referring to. A few days ago this month, our alarm system began activating yet again for no reason. Here we thought it was safe to assume it was no longer connected. This time, we were forced to cut the cables because this company refused to work with us, and were clearly playing games. We would have never been able to deactivate it because our passcode did not work, and our system still had not even been set up. Now I have received this letter, and I add up $28.99 times the amount of time from the contract, having perhaps 12 months of actual service, even though we had never set it up with the technician, never had a resolution of any kind with AMP - I could come up with a number around $347, or even if I had owed for a service for the two years we've lived here, I could come up with a number around $695. But nowhere can I ever ascertain a balance of $2,022.67 - which is what the collection bill is for. read more

I gave in under high sales pressure. The salesmen, polite but intrusive came in to our home while speaking through the front screen door. He tried to lift our patio door out of the tracks (can't be done) to demonstrate how easy it would be to break into our home. I gave in as my wife was in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease and I wanted something to wake me up if she tried to walk away in the middle of the night. Signing the 5 year contract was a big mistake. I cancelled today because my wife is slowing dying and i don't need the alarm system any longer. Now I have to pay the $750 cancellation fee. And the monthly fee....it's now way overpriced for my budget. Shop around for alarm services. AMP smart is too expensive. I can understand all of the complaints with the BBB. read more

Scam on the elderly...AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Not sure where the positive reviews come from. Salesmen cruise retirement communities in AZ looking for easy "marks". Scammed my elderly mother who is ill and dictated word for word what she was to do once they gained entry to her home (by invoking a neighbor's name she trusted). They had her cancel a contract she already had and now she's in breach of contract with her previous company. Do your research. They were exposed by Channel 12 here in Phoenix and have horrible BBB reputation and lots of complaints. My mother was frightened and didn't understand and her illness renders her contract judgment unenforceable. We are going to take legal action if they don't cancel. Stay away! read more

My fiancée and I are always hesitant in speaking with solicitors that approach us especially while taking our groceries inside. However, our representative Zac Covington eased our nerves...he even showed us his certificate as proof that he is with AMP smart. Through conversation and not even entering the house, he was able to tell us what we would need that would relieve our security concerns. By the time Zac had us signed up it felt as if we were chatting with a friend. He was super patient, confident, friendly, and efficient! Within 2 hours, we were signed up and the technician was on his way! The technician Wyatt Watts came with a smile and ready to work! My new system is pretty cool. My wife loves the Bluetooth disarming feature and I have been messing with the scene settings where I can mix and match different sensors to react with each other. Last night I set the motion sensor where it activates the front room light and we both love the doorbell camera. We are both very happy especially compared to what we had before and so far the process has been really smooth. read more

I wanted the opportunity to read on the company and reviews. I signed a 20 yr contract with Vivint Solar and it has been a nightmare. I am right there with these other reviews. I had a great door to door sales man who told me everything that I wanted to hear with promises that are not being followed through on. I purchased the security system because ultimately I wanted the cameras to protect my toddlers. Loved that it isnt able to be hacked into etc. HOWEVER.....was told if the product isnt working with the internet service that I have they would gladly cancel and I could return the product for a full refund. I was never told how strong my internet needed to be, the installer never tested it before leaving my home, and everything continuely spins!! When I called to cancel they said I had to pay a rediculous fee to cancel and still pay for the product which after I paid for it I couldnt use it anyway beacuse i would have to be paying the $35/month fee to be able to use the app. Even the cameras which are not monitored by AMP will not work unless i'm paying them to use the app. Unknown to be I'm in a 5 year contract!!!! So....i Have to pay over 2,000 for product, $35/month for monitoring and to be able to use my cameras, and after that...if I choose to cancel...I will have product that I can no longer use!! OH!! AND beause i was not told that I didnt have enough Upload speed to acommodate for the products that they sold me...I now get to spend an additional $65/month to change internet companies so that I can see an active feed through my cameras instead of watching a spinning wheel. This c0ompany has the right intentions to keep people safe and monitored but the wrong business customer care mindset. I'm super frustrated and sad that they are not honest and doing what is right. The company went under the name Guardian Protection Services during the sale so that I wouldn't be able to look up the correct reviews before signing. They kept the name hidden on the contract until it was signed. I decided to try giving these guys a shot. I told the salesman what my requirements were automation wise - simple things like setting a schedule for users, setting my alarm system to automatically arm when I lock my front door. He said that we could do it no problem. After fussing with the system for a couple days, I decided that the system would not work for me and cancelled within the 3 day RoR. The cancellation seems to have gone okay - no extreme pushiness. I sent the cancellation letter via certified mail so that I would have a solid date of receipt. I also called them to let them know I would be cancelling on the same day I sent the notice. They called several days later to schedule a pickup of their equipment. I was okay with the date they suggested and never said that it wouldn't work. They called the day before pickup to reschedule for a later date. Eventually, they did pick up the equipment. My biggest complaint is that despite their contractual / legal obligations to issue a refund within 10 business days, I have yet to see the refund. I've called and inquired about it 5 times now, and each time they say "I have a case open that I'll update. It should be getting processed soon". It's now been 21 business days since they received my notice of cancellation. Why do business with a company who can't even follow THEIR end of THEIR contracts? read more

I just switched over from a security company I'd been with for 6 years to AMP Security. Jason Wellington was very helpful with describing the AMP Smart equipment and features. He was also super helpful in talking through concerns I had with switching to a new company. He was very patient and answered all of my many questions! The technician Blake was dedicated to making sure I was all set up through the process. He explained how to use everything and answered all of my questions to make me feel comfortable with using the equipment. I feel like I can reach out to either of them in the future too! I wish I could put 0 stars. This company is so horrible. I got this system about 4 months ago and it never worked from the first day I got it. When they came to put in the system it took 3 guys to come in and put the system in. One guy messed up my door trying to put the keyless pad lock, another guy hook wires to my doorbell camera and you can see the wire through out my house and the third guy suppose to show me how the system works. Well the system worked just fine when he was here a hour later the camera stop recording and the lady voice kept coming on when I would try to lock my door saying front door is jammed. I've call customer services several time and they said they would send someone out and never have. I stop paying and ask could they come take the system out and nobody have. Now they keep calling my phone talking about a payment but I told them I'm not paying for something that don't work. read more

It's happened very often that I'm entering my door and the alarm won't go off I'll call and complain to customer service and their excuse will just be that there's a weak signal in the area that I'm living in they're also very pushy they will also phrase things differently when I asked the gentleman if there would be any cancellation fees he said NO come to find out there is an 1800 hundred cancellation fee they also did not tell me of an annual fee this place is a total joke the alarm is constantly never working calling and complaining doesn't help because they'll just listen to you and pretty much will just tell you there's nothing they can do about it If you're thinking of getting a house alarm get anybody else but AMP ALARM I'll save you the headaches read more

After having my system installed by AMP Security my home has been protected. I have been very satisfied with their prompt response to my phone calls, replying to my email questions and delivering what was promised. I like the features of what they installed in my house and my wife likes how we can see strangers who come to visit our home from the inside of our home or on our Iphones when we are out and about. One of the smartest things I've done this year was contact AMP Security and get my home protected. I know of another person in our neighborhood who is equally as satisfied with AMP, it's too bad these days we have to go this extent to protect our assets and the people whom we love, but with AMP Security we rest assure that someone has always got our backs.
