In addition to deceptive contract practices, AMP Smart uses a 'call center' when they are not opened. This morning, our alarm started going off at 6 AM and the keypad appeared to be glitching because random numbers would show being pressed. This means that there was no way to turn the alarm off since inputting the code was impossible as the alarm kept showing random key presses. My wife asked the call center to note the account to have someone call us back ASAP (this was at 7:15 AM this morning). It is now 4PM and my wife called them to send someone out since they still had not called us. I was able to get he face plate off and remove the battery to reset, but still need them to come fix the thing so we don't continue to have this issue. This company has terrible service and just makes their money tricking consumers in to long contracts with ridiculous stipulations that prevent you from cancelling and auto-renew locking you in with no action on your part. read more

Terrible company with shady business practices. In order to end our 5 year contract, which is already absurdly long, we were required to mail a letter stating our request to cancel in order to terminate the service. Guess what? The address they provided was wrong and they had moved! Letter has to get resent and now because they didn't receive the letter within a 30 day window they want us to pay for 2 months of service and are threatening collections for services we explicitly stated we no longer wanted. Managers are never around and unavailable to speak to. No notes are saved our account and we keep getting calls by the same people who can't make any decisions. read more

They have been out to fix a door bell camera multiple times (requiring a payment for each visit) and the camera is still not working consistently. Instead of providing a permanent solution or reason why it won't work they just keep replacing it and hoping it works. They insist on going through the same troubleshooting steps to waste my time each time, though nothing has changed. I'd love to cancel, but alas, due to the extreme contract length and incredible cancellation fee, I stay. Terrible customer service, and now that I am cancelling the "painless" process promised by the sales rep is far from the truth. They don't back their customers or hold employees accountable. In 2019 | signed up with Titanium. I wasn't happy with them, but eventually got to know the accounting staff and was able to get my bills paid. I had opted out of auto pay because they charged me twice. Fast forward to 2023 when out of the blue AMP smart took over without any notice. I have two accounts for a duplex that I own. My sister lives in the other unit. One unit has alarm and the other...alarm and cameras outside. I agreed to pay a $6 monthly fee for the times I need equipment repair/replacement. When Amp took over, they constantly badgered me about renewing my contract. I realized this company is even worse than Titanium. Their payment portal didn't include both accounts and if you wanted to pay the current month & opted for it, the system would deduct current and future month w/o asking for your authorization or any confirmation. When I'd call for faulty cameras or alarm panel not working, they'd give me an appointment within 2-4 weeks which defeated feeling safe. After the technicians would show up, they would refuse to update my equipment because I did not renew my contract with them. So I am still stuck with cameras and panels from 2019. Their customer service reps are rude or over apologetic without solving problems. I submitted in writing my intent to cancel per their requirement of 30day cancelation for one of the accounts that we have no alarm for and they failed to remedy the problem. I submitted this on January 23rd thinking that I will be done with this horrible company with one of my accounts and they tell me per my contract cancelation will occur on March 3rd. They have the audacity to ask me if I have my contract from 2019 with Titanium with me. What? Am i supposed to carry a contract? They have not uphold the customer service that Titanium provided and now they want to charge me an extra month for a panel that doesn't work. This is a horrible company! read more

This company is just plain EVIL. Our story is that we signed up with Amp Smart from a door-to-door rep who came by our new house offering us a pretty appealing package. They did not make it clear that we would be signing a five year contract at the time I signed. Fair enough, that's on me. Towards the end of our five year contract, I lost my job and so we tried to cancel our service early which would've been about $500. Couldn't afford that so I jumped through all of their hoops to get our account frozen for 6 months (I sent them my letter of termination, went through their review process, etc). Come to find out during that 6 months they actually did NOT freeze our account and instead auto-renewed our contract for another five years! They never communicated any of this to us. A customer service rep escalated our plea to just pay off our original account to their leadership, who we NEVER got to speak to and, you ready? Our appeal was denied. Today it cost me over $2,000 to cancel my account, which I paid to just get them out of our lives. Huge mistake, will never sign a contract from a stranger at our door again. Amp Security is a scam , They charge 60$ a month for security but the alarm system is not monitored. We had the alarm go off for more than a minute ( they are suppose to call at 30 secs) . They didn't call to check or report to police. So the monitoring a lie. The door bell camera never worked and would malfunction if the temperature was over 85F. We changed providers because we were paying for a service we were not getting. The panel was removed the installer said that the security system should call once the panel was removed they did not. When i called to cancel they didn't know that the terminal has been removed. They still want us to pay 1600$ for cancelling. I would give the company ZERO out of five stars. This is an awful company with fraudulent business practices. Sadly we fell for an extremely high pressure door to door salesperson and wound up with a drastically inferior product at an outrageous price. While the technicians are very nice, and most of the customer service people are as helpful as they can be, repping a very poor product, the business practice is to tie buyers into long term impossible to get out of contracts. No stars is a more accurate rating. Very deceptive salesman and contracts. 5 year price lock isn't actually guaranteed and can increase due to a whole list of things in the company's control. Control panel makes a terrible high pitched screeching sound that can cause hearing damage. However, you can get out of your 5 year (price guaranteed but not really) contract by pay over $1800. The solution to the sound the control panel makes is to turn the volume down. So if there is a break-in, what's the point of even having a security system? Agents are well trained to talk you in circles. Choose another company for your needs. read more

Not only do they deceive you into signing another 60 month contract without your knowledge but when I had to freeze my account because I was moving I was not told I needed to take any of the equipment with me because I www eligible for new upgraded equipment. When I called to reactivate my service because I still have a year left of my contract I was told to get the new equipment I would have to give back the old equipment which is in the house I sold in another state or pay out of pocket for the equipment to be able to use their services I am contracted to. We were sold in December almost 3 years ago. Camera works when it feels like it. Service is horrible. We were also told that after two years our equipment would be paid off and would be paying 35$ a month after the two years. Well. That's not true!!! Also found out that I must give 30 days notice that I want to cancel at the end of my contract. If not the contract will be automatically renewed for an additional five years. Worse security company ever. Sadly for many including myself AMP has shown to have shady contract agreements. Sales reps who lie about and get false digital signatures on contracts. I had service for 3 year, quality was hit or miss. Panel was constantly rebooting the first 3 years. Panel finally died during the 4th year which I thought was the end of my contract. Turns out just faulty equipment, then I tried to end my service that should have ended after 3 years. Now AMP is trying to turn me over to collections after 3.5 years of on time payments and no agreement to continue service. Sales rep majorly lied about ending contract anytime! Initially, I was very impressed with the security system. However, over the past year, every month the doorbell camera is disconnecting from WI-FI, which I am unable to connect back by simply entering WI-FI & password on panel. Panel does not allow me to enter IP address. As a result, it is not connecting to WI-FI. Although sensors are working, it is frustrating not to be able to see people coming onto the property or deliveries being made. I am constantly on the internet, social media, my home phone and mobile phone, and TV cable, so I am not having these devices disconnecting. Service has been interrupted since April 30, 2023 and tech will not be available until May 17, 2023--3 weeks later. I hope that credit will be done to customers whose service is deferred. In the past, customer service has attempted to troubleshoot after being with them for over an hour, I am connected to scheduling for a tech visit. On occasion, miraculously before the tech arrives for the tech appointment, everything will start functioning properly. AMP Smart needs a better solution than connecting to a customer's WI-Fi. Customers are paying monthly for WI-FI to another company, yet AMP Smart is using their service to connect their equipment. I am a very dissatisfied customer. read more

Salesman was nice and VERY persuasive. I changed my mind about the system the next day and despite being told they would schedule my uninstall, I had to do it myself. Started having sensor issues the second night having the issue but I had already submitted my intent to cancel the contact so I didn't make a big deal of it. System was removed and tech seemed angry about it. Despite being assured numerous times they would be able to set my existing system back to "working order" if I changed my mind, they couldn't do that. It was a lie wrapped in an intentional omission of the facts. Tech who uninstalled the system put my deadbolt and my doorbell on upside down. Based on his attitude, I know it was intentional as well. If I could give them a negative star then that's what I'd do. When we installed their security system we were told it's a 3year contract but when we called 2.5yrs later we were told that we apparently signed a 5yr contract. Clearly remembered it to be 3 but whatever. At the end of 4th year an AMP employee showed up at our doorstep and said that customers have reported troubles with their panel so they are changing it and this has no bearing to the length of our contract. We asked repeatedly and were assured that this was a technical issue they were fixing and would not affect the length of our contract by any means. This was during Covid so they had us sign a paper allowing them to come in and update the panel. We called Amp this week (as we are nearing our 5yr mark) and were told that we apparently signed a contract to renew for 5 more years, which we DID NOT. We asked for the updated contract which we supposedly signed and to speak to a manager. After a few mins on hold they said we'd be able to cancel at earlier contact date. In the years we have had them we never had issues with the equipment and had a couple emergencies where they called us right away BUT it's way to expensive in the long run and not worth the headache when it comes to cancelling your contract. After all of that, just found out that my alarm would not have alerted the authorities if someone had broken in or we had a fire for the past 8 months... Turns out they did not have my alarm permit number on file. Unlike professional alarm companies, which ensure they get this information up front or have safeguards that throw a red flag if you don't have this information, AmpSmart continues to collect your hard earned money without telling you they don't have the most important piece of information on file. This is absolutely unacceptable and a complete breakdown for a company. I'm locked in for another 2 years and 4 months of this garbage. In response to Jason's (AmpSmart rep) comments below (can't respond to his comment for some reason). I am well aware that there is an annual alarm permit, I have been paying it to my local sheriffs office every year when i had ADT. What I was not aware of is that you did not have my permit on file which basically means I'm paying $65 a month for a noisemaker. Again, if the most important piece of information isn't on file why not send a weekly/monthly email alerting your customers that you do not have this information and the severity of not having this information (aka the alarm won't work). When I had ADT, they took the liberty to obtain this information and ensure they had it on file because they are a LEGIT alarm company. I notice the AmpSmart rep didn't bother to comment on any of the other issues I had with this company. Thanks for nothing... Customer service is very poor. I had it for more than three years and my contract expired after three years. The camera stopped working after three years. I called them for three times to repair my camera. But no one cared. But they keep charging my credit card toward the service fees. When I found it after five months. I stopped paying them. As I don't get any service from them as my cameras stopped working and no one came to repair it. Once I stopped paying them, they for no reason keep sending me the bill. As I enquired, they said that I have to close the account. I did closed the account by email as they told me and in fact also told me where to send an email. But they don't close my account until I pay them. For more than two years, they still keep me sending me the unpaid bills. Now they even transferred it to the collection agency. On enquiring the collection agency, they told me that amp titanium extended my contract for two more years. Though my initial contract was for three years and it was expired and amp titanium extended my contract without my signature and knowledge. I end up paying the two years bill and that too for no service. So to me amp titanium cheated me. For no service, I have to pay the outstanding bill. read more

We were excited about our security system at first now feel trapped and taken advantage of. We got the security system primarily for the cameras, however they have not been working properly since we got them. When I called to cancel services they told me I would have to pay $1,800! We were never told about this fee or 5 year contract! I was also told that I need to get better internet for my cameras to work and if I "just wanted cameras I should have got Ring". Amp Smart sent a gentleman to our house last year for repairs another man also came and said since we were loyal customers they wanted to offer us a free camera, after repairs and installation of camera I was asked to sign a portable machine, I even said this will not extend anything, I was told NO the signature was for the free camera. I find out later when calling about our contract that the Loyalty department stated we signed a contract extension last year when we got our free camera!!! This company is extremely deceptive and dishonest. You are forced into a 5-year contract, which auto-enrolls you for an additional 5-year contract term unless you follow their convoluted service termination process, which can easily be manipulated in their favor. According to the very fine print on the contract, you must initiate a termination of service request by mail (no options for email or call-in to customer service), 30 days prior to the end of the contract term. They can very easily say they never received the mailed notification and you can easily be duped into another 5-year contract term. We initially got their service and were told that we could cancel at the end of the contract term. We moved homes, and to a different state; within two years. However, we continued to pay the remainder of the contract in order to fulfill the contractual obligations. We then attempted to cancel service recently, as our contract had ended, we were told we didn't follow their steps for termination. They are now stating we've been entered into an additional 5-year contact and the only way to opt out is to pay an exorbitant $1850 termination fee, which is just ridiculous and straight up theft - considering we honored the initial contract despite not gaining any benefit of their service. We went by what the initial sales rep had stated, only to later find out that this was not true. This company has intentionally lied and made the service termination process unnecessary difficult in hopes of trapping customers. I would avoid this company like the plague. When we explained to customer service of our circumstances, they adamantly refused any options and stated that the new contract has started and we would have to pay the early-termination fee. If it were possible to leave 0/5 stars, it would be a better assessment of our experience with this crooked company. The service cost half again as much i was told it would, the equipment cost 3 times what it does off the shelf at amazon, and its all broken with in the first year. All 3 cameras are dead, all the doors sensor that were just taped up fell off and shattered, i can't access the control panel and the app stopped working within three months.
