I've been coming to 76 Diner for years, going back to my college days, and while I don't get over to that part of Latham as often anymore, I still make it a point to stop in a few times each year. I will say a while ago they changed their menus. I used to enjoy the older version with some information about the presidents of the United States. Probably silly of me but I enjoyed reading that and it went along with the '76 name. I'd like to see something similar to that come back on future menus. It's a large place, so there's rarely much of a wait, if any, and the parking lot is big enough that finding a spot is never an issue. On this visit, we were seated quickly, greeted promptly, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Any time I've been here it's always nice and clean. This time was no exception. Any time I've been in the restroom, it has always been clean as well. The service stood out, our waitress checked in several times to make sure everything was good and see if we needed anything else without being overbearing. Everything we ordered tasted great, and the desserts were just as good. This has been a reliable spot for me for a long time, and this visit was no different. 5 stars

Inside is actually larger than expected, with a certain mid-century charm. Service was quick and unobtrusive. I had never actually eaten here until a recent weekend when I met a friend for breakfast. The menu is positively huge, and it was hard to narrow down my choice, but I went with the western omelette, which comes with potatoes and toast. I wish I could've switched the toast to an English muffin, and the potatoes were really not that flavorful and kind of dry. I would have preferred hashbrowns. I only ate half the omelette. It was kind of dry; no cheese, just ham, peppers, and onions. Am I glad I ate here? I guess so. But will I eat here again? Probably not.

Diner was owned by an elderly lady who also owned another diner and she sold both to the new owner whose name is, I think, Moose or something like that. She only ever had the diner open for breakfast. Now the new owner has it open for breakfast lunch and dinner. This is the second time I've eaten there and BOTH TIMES the meal was outstanding. Typical diner food but really really good. Can't understand why, when i went both times, the place was practically empty. Can only assume that people don't KNOW they are open for dinner, just not on Sunday nights. Please people, let's support local businesses. Lets show them some love and go have dinner there some night. I promise you will not be disappointed.

She came back within a minute and we weren't ready. Then we didn't see her for about ten minutes. When she did come back, she took our orders and I'm not sure we ever saw her again except up by the cashier talking. We ordered two soups and lunch, a Greek salad and chicken quesadillas. Out comes our salad and quesadillas after about ten minutes. I said we didn't get our soup yet. She wasn't our server so she had to go ask. She brought out the lukewarm Manhattan chowder. It was good but could've been hotter. It actually could've had more clams. It was mostly potato. The quesadillas were super greasy and the wrap was weird and grease soaked. It was a thicker wrap. Maybe they deep fried it, not sure, but it wasn't crispy. Grease seeping onto the plate from the wrap (photo included). I took most of it home but more than likely will throw it out. Never asked if we needed more coffee. Disappointing to say the least.

I had occasion to need to stop for a layover going through the British-American Airport park, looked for a coffee spot, and shazam! There's Cafe One Eleven. It's your basic menu, but they clearly do things a little un-generically; for instance, the home style potatoes were not from a frozen bag, but baked (on site, presumably) and then heated on a grill with onions (on request). The staff were unbelievably pleasant and kind, and brought my order over to me without asking. The ambiance is as dull as you can get -- they are in some kind of converted office space, and while there were a few generic photos on the wall, zilch in terms of decor. (I'm guessing they are called Café 111 because they're in former Suite 111.) I got the impression they did a lot of bulk lunch orders for offices in the complex and hence not a lot of dine-in customers. But that's OK -- you can make your own ambiance when the service and food are this pleasant. The door is just a bit far away from the parking lot, maybe 50 yards or so, but I hobbled in and it turned out to be worth the walk. So, if you want an obscure little mini-diner that transcends its bland and unremarkable context, give this place a try.
