Rye toast

Had a wonderful omelette, breakfast with rye toast, and fried potatoes waitress the excellent job serving me. Coffee was great and they even offer our military discount can't beat that.

Chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and eggs
Ashlee D.

Came with a party of 8 on a Sunday morning and they got a table ready for us right away. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. Too many breakfast items ordered to list them all but they included eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, Bloody Mary, hash, eggs Benedict and monte cristo to name a few and everyone was happy with their food. The decor is dated like early 90's but most diners are. Would definitely recommend.

Great, friendly service with a homely atmosphere. The food was not too greasy and their servings are large!

Breakfast was amazing! Everything was perfect! Yes I said perfect!…read moreThe bacon was over the top good thick but not too thick and perfectly done with just the perfect amount of crispy. The sausage was big plump and yummy and the serving is two but that's enough to share! The toast was perfect! How do they do this?!?! If I lived here this would be my jams! The potatoes (home fries were excellent . The service was excellent too. Melissa C was awesome! Our coffee and water never ran dry. She took our order with care and attention to detail! They have clean accessible bathrooms with changing tables. Family friendly . High chairs available too! Most clients seem like regulars happy to return! They have a great selection for dessert and a full bar! You don't have to go to Vegas to get a Long Island ice tea, just go to breakfast! I love it! Happy to visit! We all left satisfied and ready for the day! Good diner coffee too!

Glad they replied, though belatedly. We will go back and cross fingers that this was a one off situation. January 1st- I sent the following email Dinertime with NO response. Things can happen at any business...but not acknowledging in any manner that we were served basically raw shrimp is the reason why we are posting this. Businesses that care about their customers at least recognize when there is a problem and try to make it better: Hello, we are customers who have been coming to the Diner Time restaurant since you opened. We have come as a couple, we have brought or met friends, and we bring family. Overall, we've been satisfied with our visits. The food and service have been reliably good/decent. Tonight, however, was a disappointment. We recognize that very few restaurants were open today, New Year's Day. As a result, your dining room was very busy. Despite that, our server was very pleasant and took good care of us. The problem? Unfortunately, it seems that the kitchen was rushing to get all the orders taken care of. My lasagna arrived, barely warm.... As if they didn't leave it in the oven or whatever heating device long enough. Tasted good, but I decided it would taste much better if I took it home and heated it up properly. So most of that came home with us. More importantly, my husband got the Fried Seafood platter. The fried fish and clams were good, the crab cake mushy and tasteless. The coconut shrimp was crispy and brown on the outside, but the shrimp inside was undercooked. Translucent and almost slimy. Both of us tried a different one of the 3 shrimps and both weren't cooked. We packed up leftovers (leaving the shrimp) and ordered dessert (very good red velvet cake). When our server brought us dessert, we did inform her of the cold lasagna and undercooked shrimp and asked that she inform the kitchen. Shortly after we got home, both of us got sick to our stomach, husband with very bad diarrhea. Couple of thoughts... when we mentioned the problem, it would have been appreciated if someone.. ie the manager on duty or one of the kitchen staff apologized and perhaps comped the dessert or something. It would also have been helpful to hear that care would be taken to prevent this in the future... ie especially undercooked seafood. We do appreciate you being open on the holiday but hope that you can avoid negative problems like this happening again, especially related to food safety. Sincerely, R Rosette Food: 1/5 | Service: 4/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5 Noise level

A friend and I just had DINNER at the Colonie Diner on Central. The reason for this post is to try…read moreand drum up some business for them. Diner was owned by an elderly lady who also owned another diner and she sold both to the new owner whose name is, I think, Moose or something like that. She only ever had the diner open for breakfast. Now the new owner has it open for breakfast lunch and dinner. This is the second time I've eaten there and BOTH TIMES the meal was outstanding. Typical diner food but really really good. Can't understand why, when i went both times, the place was practically empty. Can only assume that people don't KNOW they are open for dinner, just not on Sunday nights. Please people, let's support local businesses. Lets show them some love and go have dinner there some night. I promise you will not be disappointed.

She came back within a minute and we weren't ready. Then we didn't see her for about ten minutes. When she did come back, she took our orders and I'm not sure we ever saw her again except up by the cashier talking. We ordered two soups and lunch, a Greek salad and chicken quesadillas. Out comes our salad and quesadillas after about ten minutes. I said we didn't get our soup yet. She wasn't our server so she had to go ask. She brought out the lukewarm Manhattan chowder. It was good but could've been hotter. It actually could've had more clams. It was mostly potato. The quesadillas were super greasy and the wrap was weird and grease soaked. It was a thicker wrap. Maybe they deep fried it, not sure, but it wasn't crispy. Grease seeping onto the plate from the wrap (photo included). I took most of it home but more than likely will throw it out. Never asked if we needed more coffee. Disappointing to say the least.

The server took our drink and food order. I didn't get my coffee without asking twice for it, even though they brought 2 iced lattes that another member of our party ordered. Then we watched for 20 minutes as people that came in multiple parties after us got their food and we had nothing. Then she brought 3 out of 4 meals. My girlfriend ordered the special Raspberry Nutella French Toast. It came with strawberries and we were told, "we're out of raspberries so we substituted strawberries." That is total BS. How about telling us you are out of raspberries and asking if we want something else. My girlfriend can't really eat strawberries since they make her break out. Even worse is I STILL didn't have my food. Server said, "yours is coming, but I didn't want these to get cold." After the rest of my party was halfway done with their breakfast and I still didn't have mine, I asked for a manager. I was told there is no manager there...another load of BS. Server came back and I told her I didn't want my food at this point. She said, "okay, I'll just bring the bill." Are you f'ing kidding me??? You expect us to pay for this crap?? Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to this $hithole. Service is horrible and they will not let you complain to a manager. No manager is there on a busy weekend day? I find that hard to believe. Stay away from this place if you actually want to eat a meal and not just watch everyone around you eat. If you do decide to go, make sure not to sit in Tara's section.

Friendly staff to tourist! Great recommendations…read more Food was fresh and hot! We will def be coming back for breakfast ans coffee!

I had some time to spare recently after dropping my dog off at a veterinary clinic in Troy. I ordered the Turkish Breakfast Plate which turned out to be the most expensive breakfast on the menu. It came with a lot of food. It included eggs, Simit ( a Turkish sesame bagel), grapes, toast, honey, olives and cream cheese. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. There are no restrooms for customer use. That issue never came up for me but an older couple came in looking for a restroom and the owner advised them to go to the fast food restaurant down the street. As for the food, it was every bit as good as I expected. Some things don't change. I took the leftovers home and made another meal of it the next day.
