I met a friend and ordered an iced brown sugar latte, my favorite coffee drink after my morning Americano. It was delicious (it could have used more ice for me and I will ask next time). Amazing coffee and service! I had the chili mocha and I'd have to say it's my favorite chili mocha. I've had them in the past and I'd have to say that usually other places don't get the spice level right. I actually had a great kick of chili in the mocha at ampersand and even though I'm not a huge coffee fan I actually really enjoyed the coffee flavor here. Not sure what blend they used. Great service and the barista asked me questions about what types of drinks I like and all that which was nice. Wet around 11 on Sunday and all the pastries in the display were gone. This was our second stop on Pumpkin Day 2022. Most of us went with the Taste of Fall, which was delicious - not too sweet, as so many fall coffees can be. Staff were about the friendliest folks on the planet. They've got limited seating indoors and a few tables outside. My review is specifically for their coffee delivery service, which I've used several times now. I first learned about Ampersand from an article in the Yelp Blog which covered several coffee delivery services across the country. After researching the entries in the article, I decided to try ordering from Ampersand, and I couldn't be more satisfied. I like their aesthetics, and I love their coffee. Of the beans I've tried, my favorite is their Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. I wish it were a darker roast, but I wouldn't want to tamper with what I otherwise think is perfection. I do get the lemon and clean citrus flavors when I brew it, and after I've ground the beans, my kitchen has the aroma of chocolate for a while as well. For a darker roast, I select their Columbian. which is billed as extra dark. Beans can be ordered in small 12 oz. bags or very large 5 pound bags, whole or ground. The website is very easy to use. Shipping is free for orders over $25. My orders are always processed within 24 hours, and I've always gotten the beans within 3 days. It's not as good as being able to go into their shop to get some, but it's the next best thing! read more

Very easy to find. Google Maps took me straight there, however, Ampersand's street signs helped when I questioned my own navigation skills. You walk in to a bright welcoming space. A glass viewing window allows you to watch the roasters perform their craft - a great distraction for the wee ones. To the immediate left is the barista's workspace. And finally an enormous world map occupies the left-most wall. My son was entertained by this for at least half of our visit. Ampersand's menu is easy to read. They offer all of the usual drinks, a few organic (?) syrups and a sweetener station. The barista was kind and helpful to her new trainee. The line never lasted long as her recruit was a fast learner. I ordered a latte for myself and a steamer for the young one. The barista once again showed her kindness as she was welcoming to him and spiced up his drink with some caramel. We sat next to the window in the sunlight and chatted for a bit. The boy and I tried to work our magic on some decent photos of our newly-created beverages. When we were all finished we returned our mugs and I inquired about beans. I wish I had caught the barista's name to brag about her as she gave me some quick notes about the different kinds of beans they usually have available as well as their shipping options. We will definitely be back and I'll be placing a bean order soon. read more

Ampersand is amazing. I am so blown away that such an awesome coffee shop AND roaster is tucked away in a small corner of Gunbarrel. So worth the drive. You walk into a modern and trendy, but still cozy cafe, and order at the counter. What I thought was so cool about Ampersand is that you can order a "tasting flight" that lets you experiment with the different methods of how coffee is made- Kalita, Chemex, Nitro, Cold Brew, espresso- they have it all! And don't worry, if you're not into coffee, eavesdropping on some other customers led me to believe they have great chai as well :) If you ARE into coffee however you're in great hands with the staff. They're happy to help you navigate though which of the many beans to pick from various rotating regions. I miss this place already and can't wait to go back!!! read more

The employee turnover rate is ridiculous... every other week I have a trainee learning on the job with my order. 2 Recently... it's never open on time.. just today the doors were still locked at 7:10 am. 3. I read their website and was told they roast their own coffee once a week. I bought a bag of Sumatra and it was so nasty and acidic that I had to throw the whole bag out because it was undrinkable!! Sumatra is normally a dark rich coffee bean, and freshly roasted beans are usually oily and shiny in appearance. These beans were very light brown in color, and bone dry and chalking looking....as if they were LONG past their expiration date! And they tasted that way too!!! It was totally horrible and a waste of money, a complete rip off, and I do NOT recommend Ampersand for anyone who wants fresh coffee. It's not a business I trust at all. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! For two days in a row I received terrible treatment by the barista for trying to redeem a Yelp check-in offer. I will no longer be visiting Ampersand. Trying to redeem the $1 drip coffee Yelp offer that is posted on their page was like pulling teeth with the barista. She kept on about not knowing anything about the offer even though I walked her through it on Yelp screen by screen. She said it might even be a scam and she made me feel very unwelcome. A very, very unpleasant visit, and there's not a coffee tasty enough to make up for the poor treatment of a customer. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Ampersand is the best coffee roaster in Boulder County, and one of the best that I've been to, period. They use ethically and sustainably sourced beans, and give back to their community of farmers. Their selection of beans are usually roasted fairly light, not burnt to hell like a lot of other roasters. Carissa and Kim are also some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Their pourover class was amazing!! I took a pourover class at Ampersand with Carissa and it completely exceeded my expectations. The weather was really bad that day so it was just me and the instructor. The staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and answered all my questions. I got to make three pourovers on my own, with the instructor watching over me. We did the same coffee at different grounds level in two different methods, the Kalita and the Chemex. Carissa took the time to explain the difference, the pros and cons of each and even gave me a copy of the exact instructions for each pourover brewing method. At the end of the class and after answering my questions about making cold brew, she even took the time to brew a batch of cold brew with me. After taking the class, my cold brew is coffee-shop quality! The price of the class also included a cup of coffee plus all the tastings of pourover. It was amazing and would absolutely recommend it! A great little coffee shop and roaster in an unassuming strip mall. We stopped in to grab coffee after visiting Celestial Seasonings and ended up picking up some beans as well. There were a few folks enjoying coffee at a table. Meanwhile, the staff were working on the roasting process, which you could see through a window by the entrance. It was cool to see that in action. The girl at the counter was sweet and offered recommendations for the coffee options they had available and what was on drip that day. We went for a 12oz. drip and a bag of their Ethiopia roast. These guys are Boulder's newest best coffee shop and roaster. All batches are roasted on a micro-scale and are meticulously sourced and prepared. It sells super hardcore sustainable coffee the coffee roasters I met .. who I'm assuming also runs this business is so into his job and seems to truly care about the communities his beans come from currently working to support women coffee farmers and farms that don't cut down rainforest to farm their land.
