I got a cafe mocha with coconut milk and the roast is so nice and deep and goes well with the mocha flavor. They have an assortment of pastries and pre packaged treats available which are of average grocery store sort of quality, definitely not the stars of the show. First, this place literally has the best decaf espresso beans of any place in Louisville. They roast their own. The reason explained to me by the barista is that some roasters Over-roast their decaf I am sure if a decaf tastes good... The caffeinated must be fabulous! When I asked the barista about muffins He was less knowledgeable. Which is funny because they were only two gluten-free muffins. He knew one was blueberry but he wasn't sure with the other one was. He guessed lemon poppyseed. I looked at it and noted that there were no poppyseeds on top. But I picked the mystery muffin because I didn't want blueberry. With my grand total for coffee and muffin was nine dollars and change. I asked him what happened and he said the muffin was $4.75.... It felt like a steep price for a mystery muffin and I wish the muffin would have been labeled, So I knew the flavor and the price before hand. When I got outside I was surprised, When I broke open the driest muffin I have ever seen or tasted in my life... surprised to find a couple of poppy seeds! (There was no flavor of lemon whatsoever. Zero. Zilch.) Ironically, when I chose the "mystery muffin" the barista said "You can't go wrong with Button Rock" I think you can! This literally was the worst muffin I had ever eaten (and I eat a lot of muffins!) No wonder the line was wrapped around the block at Moxie Bread this morning, while Giovannetti was empty. The pastry choices here are slim... and as I mentioned, unnecessarily mysterious. It's not clear to me if button rock is the worst bakery in the world ...or if Giovannetti is selling muffins that are day-olds... (Although this tasted more like five days old) . The good part is I didn't waste my calories...as there was a convenient trash just 10 feet away. Come here for the coffee! Skip the pastry. read more

Outstanding coffee! The owner, Dan, buys raw coffee beans and does all the roasting on site. The coffee is absolutely outstanding. They also have some fresh pastries (including gluten free) and you can buy bags of coffee beans (nice selection of options). The decor is nice (beautiful artwork) and the space is comfortable. And I saw a comment here that someone didn't get a hello when they walked in - sounds weird to me. I've found Dan (and the other employee who has served me) to be very friendly, polite, and engaging. We've been coming here for coffee every weekend for several months now and plan to continue to do so. A great spot in Old Town for a great coffee! read more

Not from the area but stopped while driving thought. First main street is super cute. I agree with reviews this good coffee. I got an Americano so maybe I could have used less water to really get the full effect but as an avid Americano drinker, this was a good one. Check it out. The gentleman behind the counter could have been a bit friendlier and offered Info on pastries and coffee. That's just me. I love to go to new coffee shops and get really excited when people are passionate about their product. Just part of the experience for me. Stopped by for a mid-morning latte & chocolate croissant and it was a delightful treat. One of the best lattes I've ever had and the pastry was delectable as well. The remodel of the space was appealing and outdoor seating on Main was comfortable and reminiscent of a European plaza cafe experience. We'll be coming back for more! read more

Top quality beans sourced from all over the world masterfully roasted, in house, by the owner himself. Dan is a wealth of knowledge, boasting over 20 years experience in roasting. The space is cozy and well decorated. Definitely stop in for a drink of your choice but don't forget to take some of the fresh beans home with you as well. This is the best coffee place in town. We got delicious americanos and a chocolate croissant and took some beans home. Everything is great, and I really appreciate the organic products and that they don't charge extra for non-dairy alternatives. They also roast their own coffee. Overall, great experience. read more

Giovannitti checks all the boxes - great coffee that you can feel good about buying because it's fair trade and supports small farmer co-ops and women's co-ops. Local owner in a great downtown location with a European vibe. I usually just get fresh brewed coffee but in Europe I want an espresso or Macchiato - this place makes me want to sit down with a macchiato.
