Awee yeah, ample hill creamery. One of my favorite ice cream spots in Brooklyn. Their staff is super friendly and I love their choices for cones. Mmm pretzel or chocolate chip cookie cone. They have some great flavors and sometimes I wish they didn't swap some of them out. The ice cream is creamy and just the right sweetness when mixed with all its little toppings and what not. Mmm just thinking about it makes me want some while lazing on some summer grass at the park. read more

They have ruined all other Cookies and Cream ice creams for me- it is crazy delicious here with big chunks of Oreos. They also have soft serve ice cream! It is a little bit pricey ($5 for a single scoop) but very good quality so I think it's worth it. Looking forward to trying all the flavors :). read more

In all fairness we went at 9 PM on a Sunday night so it really is not that surprising that the two flavors we wanted to try, peppermint paddy and banana were sold out. Let me start off by saying I'm not a fan of ice cream. Shocking, I realize. I'm more of a sorbet person so my first trip to Ample Hills was some sort of coconut/lime mojito mix (forgot the name at the moment) and it was PHENOMENAL. Perfect tartness, flavor and consistency. The second time I came back I had a lemon sorbet which I was not as wild about. I really wanted the first one and was a bit cranky when they didn't have it but that's not to say it wasn't also yummy. It was at this time I tried my boyfriend's Salted Crack Caramel where I became hooked. This anti-ice cream crusader became coo coo for coco puffs. Baked/Unbaked, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Sweet Cream and Cookies, and now my most recent favorite, Nonna D's Sweet Oatmeal Lace are all un-friggin-real and you have to try it. YES the lines are long but its NYC so stop being cranky and deal with it. The reward is totally worth it! read more

It was super humid and hot in Brooklyn yesterday so, my friend & I decided to troop it out to Ample Hills Creamery. It was a very nice, short walk from our Franklin Ave apt. Upon arrival I noticed the crowd that was lined up to get a taste of greatness! I sampled a couple flavors ranging from Vanilla Bean, "The Munchies", and finally settled on a scoop of Piña Colada w/ a waffle cone. I loved every bite and will be back soon to get more. I've been a supporter since day one! I recommend this shop b/c the word cream in their brand stands out for the texture and flavors created by all teams. I have to comment tonight after leaving with my kids b/c of one of the servers who took it upon herself to charge me the way she wanted to charge my card without asking me if it was ok. She was an African American lady in her 20's I suppose and she basically assumed that charging my two tender purchase her way would suffice when it was not ok b/c I had proportionately rationed this mini splurge with my kids after a post Sat. Night out dinner with my kids. I didn't think this was nice at... all. I've been at the book release at the grand opening of your Gowanus loc. You name it. I think that there needs to be knowledge curve in the process or a way that the POS can process dual tender. I'm in IT and I've used Square and set it up for a restaurant business and we took both tenders. Perhaps, there needs to be a knowledge curve of the software? This might just be the best ice cream in the New York area. The Salted Crack Caramel is just as good as everyone says- it has a deep caramel-y, almost burnt flavor... but in a good way! The saltine cracker bits are delicious. The chocolate milk and cookies flavor is also a huge winner- there's almost more chocolate cookies in there than chocolate ice cream! So good. This was my first time visiting Ample Hills after seeing it on unique sweets on the food network channel. I had a great experience here the lines were long when I got here but that didn't bother me at all. Long lines equals booming business and awesome ice cream, ample hills is doing something right! The lines moved quickly and as we approached the back end of the store I saw a kid section with books, toys and an ice cream stand my daughters eyes lit up when she saw the toys so I took her to play while my husband waited in line. I thought that was amazing idea to have a kiddie section where kids can have the best of both worlds ice cream and toys, you can't top that really especially for a 3 year old. We finally arrived by the ice cream cases and my jaw dropped so many flavors to choose from and by the way the flavors were so unique which made me happy. My husband and I bout a pint to take home and we mixed two flavors together we got sweet as honey which is amazingly yummy and ooey gooey butter cake I believe it was. These two flavors were great tasting not your typical ice cream from carvel this is top notch ice cream made with love. I will be returning very soon to try their caramel crack. read more

Has anyone else had the misfortune of having purchased an in-house packaged pint only to find the ice cream as a cold, goopy pool in the bottom of your bag by the time you get home?? I placed blame on myself at first, thinking that I might've slung around the precious package a little too aggressively while on MTA transit, but when I tried to put the pint into my freezer, the pint container broke apart! It looked like the glue that kept the seams together couldn't stand up to the melting custard. Sadly, I wasn't the only one who concluded the night disappointed. My boyfriend called me soon after I finished up cleaning up my kitchen floor to tell me that his own pint opened during transit, and none of it was salvageable. It makes me sad still to think how two $9 pints of ice cream were purchased and managed to create frowns instead of smiles. New containers for ice cream packaged by your exceptionally friendly staff would be greatly appreciated! read more

3.5 stars... Ample Hills Creamery is one of the latest in artisan, all natural, ice cream shops popping up throughout the city. This one is a little different from the rest. They have interesting (but not bizarre) flavor combinations that I haven't seen anywhere else, they have a larger more open space than most other places, and the portions are better as well. One of the flavors that launched this place's success was maple bacon which was sadly not an option when I went. Another flavor they're known for is salted caramel and that was sold out when I went. Their small batches of flavors are constantly changing and are listed on their website so there's always a reason to head back and try something new and exciting. Nearly all their flavors have pieces of mixed in which I personally don't care for but most independent places aren't doing that so that's one more thing that sets Ample Hill apart from the rest. I went with a scoop of chocolate malted (which has pieces of malt balls inside) and a scoop of Chocolate Monkey, a banana ice cream with flecks of chocolate and peanut butter swirls. The Chocolate Monkey wasn't that good as the texture was very icy but the flavor wasn't bad. The chocolate malted was a lot smoother and I didn't mind it but for me the malt flavor was extremely strong, not subtle at all. Despite the downsides I still liked this place enough to go back and keep trying some of their interesting new flavors. read more

Wow, I was anxiously awaiting to try this place and it did not fail to meet my expectations. This is some of the best ice cream I have ever had. The carmel crack was out - SAD - but instead I got the bourbon st and honey flavors on a cone. It was pure heaven. I am definitely coming back to try all of them. Salted crack caramel is a flavor explosion. however, i did not think i could eat a whole scoop of it. back to good ole reliable mint chocolate chip. threw in some mexican hot chocolate to seize the day. it def has a little kick. also sorta has a texture like pudding. topped it off by enjoying my creamy and delicious ice cream sitting outside on the lovely almost patio with fake grass. ain't nothing wrong with that. read more
