Such a fun bar! My wife and I stopped by here on our last trip through Kentucky and loved the atmosphere. They had a great drink special for an old fashioned that used their barrel pick Bourbon. It was so good and I wish I could have gotten some to take home. We did also buy merch there because while It is cool to have a t shirt from a large distillery or the university; local shops tell a cool story and they Are unique. Both bartenders were cranking out custom cocktails so fast and they were absolutely delicious. It's a small place but they do have some outdoor seating for summer or fall. And, they do sell hard to find bottles at a mark up but haven't ever seen them available where we are from. read more

I have been to this place several times the past 4 years. It's always been overpriced but the drinks were good and the selection of bourbon is great to try hard to get bourbons. Fast forward to last night. Ordered 2 drinks the Golden Hour and an Old fashioned. Both drinks the bourbon was stated a house blend in an unmarked bottle which is odd. Next the pour of alcohol from said bottle was a half ounce/half finger at best and that's with a large ice cube already in the glass. Would not recommend until they get their act together. And of course the owner doesn't respond about the poor quality of the drink and how it was made. Just that we blend liquor upstairs. This is not just a bourbon bar. They have a very nice wine selection, as well as a nice cocktail menu. If you are with someone who is not a bourbon drinker, don't be afraid to bring them along. Great stop in between two distillery tours. Over 200 Bourbon labels to choose from or in house created cocktails. We saw Amsden is several magazines as a top 100 Bourbon bar, so we sought it out . The Wright Bourbon Walker is made with Buffalo Trace and is delicious. Candace crafted the drink and she made it a great choice for a not -so-serious bourbon drinker. The town of Versailles is quaint, so the location of Amsden has a lot of character and ambiance. Great pizza place around the corner as well. Candace recommended the chicken honey garlic pizza . No food, but you can order from the amazing pizza place around the corner & eat it in there. Excellent selection of bourbon of course, wine & they serve beer, vodka & other liquor. Went here shortly after it opened for drinks and trivia. Trivia done by a lady in which she builds the game herself and has great questions! Drinks a little high but atmosphere is great and eclectic trying to match the buildings age. Parking is in the courthouse square or on the street. The bar's location in the historic Amsden building gives it great character and atmosphere, and they have an amazing selection of bourbons. John, Kelly, and Shelby took great care of our group of five and gave our experience a local, personal touch. We could've stayed for hours, and we were still talking about it long after we'd left.
