I had myself a Margarita Pizza. I suppose I would have enjoyed my experience a little more if I hadn't been hungover from the night before. The pizza was decent, service was decent. Amsterdam is great for people watching and drinks. They play good music (I think the girls choose what they play) and the appetizers are acceptable as far as pub fare goes. If you get on the good side of the servers and bartender they will treat you quite well-- and it's less annoying than Citta's across the plaza and no bouncer, that I've ever seen at least. My only gripe is the truly horrible beer list. They have complete crap on tap with the exception of Guinness-- no microbrews, no big IPA's or anything even remotely interesting. I wish they would change that... but it's a common problem in Whistler bars. read more

It was about 10:30 after a nice meal, and about five of us decided to go for a few drinks at the Amsterdam Pub. Three of us got served, before my partner and I went to the bar and asked the bartender for a drink. She told us to take a seat and another waitress would be right with us. As we turned to find a table, she turned to her friends who were sitting at the bar and we over heard her say "That's my way of telling them to F*ck off" Disgruntled, but not wanting to make a fuss we went to sit down. Another waitress came and took our drinks. When she brought us the bill we figured we'd stay for a few more so decided not to leave a tip on this round. This waitress then walked to the cashier and told a fellow waitress, in a very loud voice and while pointing at us, "Not gonna serve that table again!" The staff were rude, destroyed the atmosphere, and wouldn't recommend this place even if the drinks were free. read more

This was literally the only place I could get in for a drink around 10pm on MLKJ weekend. Everywhere else was packed to capacity. I guess there were lots of US 19 and 20 year-olds visiting that were excited they could drink somewhere other than their grandma's basement. Anyway, they had decent beer. Not too pricey for a pitcher, for Whistler anyway. They also had tasty hot drinks like hot toddys and spiked coffees. Sadly the patio (the only place with tables available) closed at 11 because of a city by-law so we had to make do by cramming a bunch of people around one tiny table. I liked the decor and the laid-back feel, typical bar vibe. They were playing 80's cartoons (without sound) which was bizzare but a mildly entertaining conversation starter. Although the music was WAY too loud, and we were in no way able to have a proper conversation. That might have been just because we were there at night..but still. I can imagine the patio would be quite nice during the summer, and I would be willing to come back, but it wouldn't really be my first choice. read more

Came here for a well-deserved apres in the middle of an epic ski trip. Great atmosphere - very friendly, chill, and laid back in keeping with the usual Whistler vibe. Service was very good and our server was reasonably attentive and very friendly. We just ordered a half order of nachos and even those were MASSIVE ie. a challenge for 3-4 people to finish. Stopped by here for drinks with my 2 cousins. We ordered the blueberry bomb, pornstar and the dam gernade. Drinks were okay. The only one I really liked was the Dam Gernade. Definitely recommended getting it to drink. Service here is okay. My waitress was around in the beginning and then after we got our drinks, we couldn't find her for a good 20 minutes to order more drinks so we just left. After our short flight, long wait at the airport and even longer shuttle ride to Whistler, we decided to celebrate finally making it to our hotel by having a drink at Amsterdam Cafe. This place is tiny but has a really good vibe. Amsterdam Cafe and two other places right next to it are owned by the same company so they have the exact same food but we weren't there for food. Stopped in for breakfast. First thing I noticed is they have a very limited menu so I ordered their "Big Breakfast". Turns out their big breakfast turned to be 3 eggs, 2 bacon 2 sausage 2 pancakes. Every single item was overcooked and dried out. For this kind of meal, Denny's would be vastly superior. Food did not taste bad, it just wasn't appetizing or prepared well. Service was extremely slow. Not totally their fault because they were extremely busy, but management should do a better job of staffing. Items are extremely overpriced, but everything in Whistler is overpriced. But for these prices I would expect better quality and it is just not their. Also, music is LOUD!!! Girls night...we drove to Whister to have a good time. We got in late and went out to get a drink before we went back to the hotel. We decided on Amseterdam Cafe since it looked like fun. The bouncer was very nice and said they were at last call and we said that we understood and would have one drink and leave. So he found us a seat and as a group got our order together to make it really easy for the bartender. One of our party members walks up to the bar to order the drinks but it turned away saying that a waitress will help us...Fair enough...since we dont know how this bar works. We wait for about 5-10 more mins and KNOW that we are being ignored. Then low and behold...I get a reciept thrown at me. Mind you I have not had a drink yet and I am still waiting for the waitress that just threw the reciept to come down and take our order. My friend then asks one of the other waitresses to take our order and we are told "NO! It is last call." We explain that we understood but the bouncer let us in and found us an extra seat to have one drink. She rolls her eyes and then comes over to our table and we all order the drinks we have waited 15 mins for and ask for our tab right away. We even pay with 1 card to make her life easier. There comes thrown reciept #2 from the other waitress. I cant believe this is even happening at this point. I have never been treated with SUCH disrespect in my life. I get that we walked in at the last min for a drink but seriously... After that we were to the bar attach to our hotel and had a great time. Then on to day 2...This is TOTALLY my mistake for going back. I figured...they had a bad night and it couldnt be AS bad. Well...I didnt have anything thrown at me this time. We waited outside for a large party to leave for about 10 mins. That is acceptable. The place had emptied out with the large party so we sat at a booth next to the boob shots. The waitress comes over and takes our order...the 1st 2 people didnt want to drink...her response to the rest of us was "Is anyone drinking alcohol?" I mean give me a break. The other 4 of us are drinking. After that we decide we had has enough. Now begins the wait for the bill. remind you no one is in this place...and we still waited 10 mins to get our bill after our drinks were looooooong gone. I will never go back to that place. I forgot that I was thousands of miles from home and I felt like I was in my neighborhood hangout, the drinks played a large part in that feeling. The drink selection is not bad but it is really the music,the ambience and the laid-back and cool "attitude" of this place that does it! Haven't tried the food as the Amsterdam just has that grotty look over it, that kind of says "great place for a pint or two, but not a place for great food". The service however sucks. We were in there for twenty minutes while one of the bar maids was busy showing her tattoo off to some pierced, freakish looking dude she was obviously real keen on and the other two were busy talking to each other.... So I/we have come to the conclusion that actual service being offered at pubs/restaurants in Whistler is very hit and MISS! This was the third pub we tried and actually did receive some form of service. But that being said because it did take quite some time to get service we decided to just order two hot house special coffees as food would have taken forever. My boyfriend comes here every year and spoke highly of their drink the Nordic Weasle or something similar to that, which was pretty good. However, I got a "chicken burger" which was actually a chicken breast on a bun. The bun was stale and it just had lettuce and tomato with barely any mayonnaise. The chicken breast was boiled and has NO flavor. It was a busy night and it took awhile to get our food. They did play great music and it was a fun atmosphere. Our server was nice but kind of slow. I don't think she understood that we were getting dinner WITH our drinks from the bar. My boyfriend ordered the butter chicken which was better than what I got. read more

We stopped in Amsterdam because we were starving and couldn't make a decision. The spring rolls tasted like anything we could cook from the freezer section at the grocery store, and service was very slow. Our waitress walked passed us multiple times without noticing our empty drinks or attempts to get her attention. Drinks were excellent. My husband has his usual highball. It was a perfect pour. I had a margarita, and my niece had a Red Light ( a special on the cocktail menu) it was delish!!!! Well... if you want a beer, and want to look at people, you can go there. The beer is great. We were attracted by the "bitterballen" and the poutine though, but both a bad choice. The bitterballen are NOT the real Dutch deal, but just "something" deep fried, in our case something similar to tater tots, and way too greasy. We came to Amsterdam Pub only because we couldn't find a table at our first few choices of bars and we were starving. The interior was a bit dark and dinghy, and tables were kinda crammed. But the burger was pretty good and they had a bunch of $4.50 drink specials and draught beer was about the same price anyway. Our server, the bartender, was also really good about advising us on what we should and should not order (burgers are a yes, bitterballen appetizer is a no) and did not seem at all fazed that two of us wanted to share a burger. She just happily brought us an extra plate and knife to cut the burger neatly in half. I'm pretty sure I would be giving this place a 1 or 2-star review if not for her. I'd say this place has it's own sort of grunge charm if you're not expecting anything high-end...or well, anything at all. Well my meal was not good. Had the schnitzel and it was more like pork jerky. Maybe a quarter inch thick. If not for gravy it would have been inedible. Curled up and obviously over fried.
