Amtrak!! First time riding from NYC Penn Station to Washington DC's own Ronald Wilson Reagans, DCA international airport (7 minute metro train ride away). It was fast efficient and easy to navigate Trains run on time and tickets are best purchased in advance. Download the Amtrak amp for easy access to delays, ticket QR code and general information on services. My ride was in excess of 3 hours. My only complaint would be the seats are not as comfortable as I would like. The other caution is that some cars are connected to the portable potties. You don't want to sit within a certain range of this feature. The smell is something horrible. Find a car that the toilet is not connected to

Amtrak could be great, in theory. It's a convenient, low-friction way to travel, especially for those of us along the Northeast Corridor route. In practice, however, service has been abysmal recently. Frequent delays with zero communication or explanation. Prioritizing Acela trains that somehow manage to run on time while the "regular" trains are always behind schedule. Even when you're boarding at the first stop on a route, you aren't safe. Amtrak needs to apologize to its riders for making its service so unreliable, removing any incentive to use this form of travel. I'll be prioritizing transportation alternatives for the foreseeable future, at least until they can get their act together.

It had been 20 years since I last rode an Amtrak train, and this was my very first trip on the Acela--to Baltimore on Saturday, 6/4, for a baseball game. I was running extremely late but managed to arrive just in time, rushing through the station and onto the platform. That's when I met Anthony, the conductor. He calmly told me to slow down, catch my breath, and assured me I still had time. He then directed me to the correct car for my seat. His professionalism and courtesy were exactly what I needed in that high-adrenaline moment, and I truly appreciated it. Thank you, Anthony! Your positive attitude stood out--and I admire the grace you show, especially when we passengers can be a lot to handle. Stay positive and keep up the great work!

The RedCap team in Union Station has shown and continues to show exceptional assistance for all of us who are disabled. I travel to NYC from Maryland bi-weekly for the past 6 months. I am always in need of RedCap service. Walking the long track after disembarking from the train is difficult for me. I always receive concern assistance when I arrive. I also noticed that others receive that same concern assistance. I have never seen a RedCap who was not helpful. Kudos to the RedCaps at Union Station in DC and to those who trained them. Tyrone E

This review concerns DC - BWI Airport. The Amtrak train from DC to BWI Airport is $5-25, depending upon the time, ect. Comfortable ride, organized and on time. I decided to fly out of BWI Airport rather than Dulles and saved quite a bit on my airline ticket. So I took metro to Union Station, purchased my Amtrack ticket same day at the counter for $12 (returning was $5), took Amtrack to BWI (about 30 mins or so), followed by the free shuttle to the airport (15 mins). It works if you need to save a pinch on airline tickets and if you're familiar with public transportation. It's a great economically friendly alternative. Amtrack is comfortable and fast. The attendant was friendly and told me when to get ready for my stop. She even watched me to make sure I was walking in the right direction after exiting the train. She was awesome. There's a lot of hustle and bustle on Amtrak. People are traveling up and down the East Coast everyday. Pretty cool. Amtrak makes it easy to get to BWI, Philadelphia, NYC, etc.

I've been riding this public transit nt entire life. However the last five weeks have been such a headache from WMATA's customer service that it's really made me consider if I need to just suck it up and drive into DC or take the bus. I used the SmartTrip app to reload my MetroCard and for over a MONTH the funds have been "pending". I called WMATA customer service, I emailed them multiple times, and even reached out to their official Reddit account. And I've been ignored, invalidated, gaslit a couple times, and some instances I've been disrespected by staff that clearly didn't want to be at work. I've always come with a level head but firm tone given how many times I've contacted WMATA and they have not resolved my issue. I'm irate and feel very disrespected and expected more from WMATA. As of 04/17 this issue still hasn't been resolved.

They do have stations peppered throughout and you can usually get to places pretty quick once you've got the map down. The people were much nicer than those I've experienced in NYC and it was a bit more like Chicago. Trains themselves clean and the stations weren't too bad either. Some a little dimly lit as you may be below-ground but still feels safe. Can't recommend enough - save gas, fees and frustration. Take the metro!

The area in front of the shuttle sign can get a bit congested at times with other vehicles. Not to worry. I used the YC mobile app & web app twice to get him a ride. Both times it said the driver would arrive in 4 mins--guess that's their default--but actually arrived in 15+ mins. When you book, they just tell you the ride is confirmed, but don't give you any information about the driver or how long it'll take for a few good long minutes. After a loooong wait, it says your driver is 4 mins away. The last time I booked with them, I watched the car on the app that had confirmed just sit, not move an inch, for probably 5 minutes solid. Geographically he was super close. Then for about 8 minutes he just inched along until he did finally reach the neighborhood. BUT, he whizzed right by the school and went down the street and just sat there. I called the service number 3 times-- it's just an automated machine. You can request to speak to the driver. Each of the three times I selected it, hoping to let him know that the school was behind him, it ring once and then hung up. After waiting for 16 minutes total for a car that was in the beginning had been like a 6-minute drive away, I cancelled the ride and ordered an uber for $8 more, which arrived in precisely 4 minutes.
