I was flipping through a penny-saver ad and noticed the school was offering promotions for free hair-cuts & hair colorings for walk-in's (no appointments!). So naturally my friend dragged me here for backup. I'll admit I was sketchy about this at first (I was expecting we'd have to pay something for the haircut), but after asking the workers 100 times they assured me would get a hair-cut at zero charge. I later found out the school was brand new and this was their way of drawing potential clients or even just spreading the word out. I'll admit the facilities looks pretty nice, so it seemed legit. Needless to say the free hair-cut was true. My friend was happy w/ her hair-cut and the instructors offered me a free-hair cut & even a facial too (lol). I was tempted but I passed on the offer. I asked if I could bring my mom and they said they would give her a free hair-cut too. Great customer service. Obviously if you come here you shouldn't expect a full expensive salon experience. This is a class, with students, there are no big salon chairs with foot spas, and foot pumices. BUT, they do have comfortable chairs, with clean lined water containers. They also massage your hands and feet wonderfully. The students may make a few mistakes. As my gel nails are a little inconsistent near the cuticles and in overall coverage. The shapes are also a little inconsistent. HOWEVER, the students are very gentle, kind, and hardworking. You can tell they pay attention to detail and try their best to deliver the best job possible. You also can't beat the price here. The prices are half the price of normal salons and I have had my nails done very badly at full price salons. I highly recommend you make an appointment if you would like to have your nails done, and because the students do take their time I reccomend you set aside at least an hour. We made an appointment and only waited a few minutes for them to set up. Overall, I would reccomend this place to others if they would like to get a good manicure/pedicure for an unbeatable price! read more

Never ever will I be coming back here! I had made an appt to get my hair colored. A big hispanic lady with blonde hair (the teacher) tld me that she would have to charge me extra because my hair was "not up to standard". I paid her $60 fir the color and $15 for the condistioning treatment (which I didnt get, and didnt get a refund for). My stylist was really sweet. She was from Pakistan and she told me lots about her family and her kids. Our conversation often got interrupted by the blonde teacher because she would yell and scream at her student. She told my stylist "This isnt how you do it, you dont know anything!". Teacher lady would literally push her students to the side and scream. She was so mean, not only to her students but to customers as well. She told me "You are a liar. You said that your hair was virgin. It obviously isnt because it has been treated in the last 5 years. I can tell just by looking. You cant. I dont understand why you lie." Are you kidding? My mistake for not remembering my hair 5 years ago, but damn. Chill the fuck out. I was so upset at the end of my coloring, I didnt stay for my conditioning treatment. I feel bad for those students. The school needs to fire her. read more

I heard about this place through a friend. She's enrolled in the cosmetology class here to get her cosmetology license. I went with her once to check out the school and it's pretty awesome. I've never seen such a nice and clean beauty school. Trust me when I say I've been to a lot of beauty schools and they're all very messy and dirty and out of control. Amy Beauty School is definitely one of the best. I came to the school because my friend had told me that they were giving out free haircuts and I was looking for a change to my hair. The girl who worked on my hair, I totally forgot her name, but she was super sweet and super tentative. I had my hair dyed and cut and styled and it turned out so nice. When I came to work the next day, everyone was complimenting on how the color and the cut matched my face. I love it! Definitely would recommend this place for anyone who's interested in getting their cosmetology or esthetician license. When I was at the school, everyone was so nice and the instructors were very knowledgeable. Have gone four times to get a manicure and pedicure. Each time I have gotten someone really nice who listened to what I wanted in terms of designs and was able to do something similar. Like others have said it is not a regular salon experience, since everyone is learning, but the instructor is always in the room and is there to help and give advice. They have been really good at correcting things I did not like, so just make sure to let them know in detail what you want so there are no assumptions. I had a coupon for a free haircut and I figured I would give it a try. Even not free, the haircuts are a bargain at $3. I was greeted by a friendly person who gave me a paper to fill out and told me the wait would be a little while because they suddenly got very busy. I only waited maybe 10 mins, not bad at all. The facility is very clean and there are a ton of students and teachers. My stylist was named Ana and she said she was about to graduate, so I felt ok with her cutting my hair. There were also two instructors roaming around, and they were never out of sight from what I could see. I had a LOT of hair to cut off and I wanted it shaved on the sides and back. Ana did a great job, with a bit of help from the instructor on blending the sides. I will be going back for sure! Update: I returned for another haircut and it was not as good as the first. Well I was a bit shaggy and figured what the heck, I'll give it a go. The people were super sweet, super nice. The staff is attentive and very good at what they do. Haircut turned out great. I talked to them about their training courses and found out they offer cosmetology classes. Since I wasn't really interested in cosmetology classes, I passed. If you have an appointment you never have to wait. The first time I went to this salon (3 months ago) I was extremely pleased with everything. Under Ms. Kat's supervision, the atmosphere was so professional and friendly, very congenial. Though the stylist who cut my hair was close to graduating, Ms. Kat closely supervised the entire cut. When the cut was finished, I was amazed to see that I'd gotten the best haircut I've had in years. (Before coming there, I'd been going to a fairly expensive stylist who performs at Paul Mitchell shows across the country.) I thought Amy's beauty school was wonderful, and couldn't understand why they weren't busy with clients, with such excellent service. Last week I went back for a light trim, expecting the same pleasant environment and excellent service. Not to be: the experience was COMPLETELY different under Ms. Sonia's supervision. The staff was still friendly, but there was a nervous tension in the air. My hair stylist was nice, but very uncertain of her skills, and Ms. Sonia was aggressive, rude and unprofessional. And even though the hair stylist was only half-way through with her program, Ms. Sonia kept going in-and-out--mostly out--during the trim, instead of giving her the direction and supervision she needed. At the beginning, she tried to convince me to get a deep conditioning treatment for $55.00, which I didn't need or want, and she did the same thing with my friend who I'd brought in with me. During the trim, the stylist had to keep calling Ms. Sonia back to ask for advice, and had to wait for her to return. Ms. Sonia would come over, say something fast and leave, or take the scissors and snip something and then leave. Her direction was vague, disinterested (with an annoyed attitude) and the resulting cut showed it. Luckily, I had asked for only a light trim, which kept the damage to a minimum, except for my bangs. My bangs were cut very short, straight across the forehead, not blended, and the sides of the bangs were choppy and cut like stair steps (for lack of a better description.) On one side, a long piece was hanging down, no idea how that was missed! I went back about 5 days later to ask for the bangs to be fixed. Ms. Sonia was even more hostile, mocking and disrespectful. She made it clear she couldn't care less about the poor cut of the bangs and did not want to make it right. It took about 10 minutes for her to agree to fix the bangs, and when she cut them herself, it came out even worse than before. She cut off the long pieces and cut the bangs shorter and did not even attempt to blend the bangs. It is now a week later, my bangs stick out no matter what I do, and they still look like a child cut them. I literally could've done a better job myself. I can't wait until they grow out. Meanwhile, if you value yourself and good service, do not go to Amy's on Ms. Sonia's supervising days. After my last two experiences, I'm not sure I'll ever want to go back. If I do go back, I will make sure that my appointment is on a day when Ms. Kat is there. read more

I went here today just to be with my mom while she got microdermabrasion done. I ended up getting a facial myself. Everyone was soo sweet. Kandice did my facial and you can tell she really enjoyed doing it. They did so much awesome stuff and explained to me everything they were doing. I've had plenty of facials done, they cost an arm and a leg just for the facial that last 15 mins. These ladies took their time and went above and beyond! An hour filled with being pampered. Even while we waited for the stuff to dry, I was being massaged! I loved every bit of it and felt so welcomed there. Mrs. Clarita was so awesome. She gave my mom and I so many tips and even gave us samples of skin care products. I will definitely be returning and recommending everyone I know! The girl who worked there was really attentive/knowledgeable and answered all of my fiance's questions about the facilities, courses, and other miscellaneous questions. I went to Amy's for a color touch up and was thoroughly satisfied. After normally paying $50 or more for color (plus tip) it was great to get my color done for less than half, including blow out. Remember these are students providing the service so allow additional time. I was pleased the instructor checked on the student frequently during the service and ensured the color was bring done correctly. I have been coming in for irregular haircuts for a while and today I was completely sold. I am in the process of coloring my hair and they tried to give me the best price possible... Spending too much money this month on other things I just could not swing it. So I stayed for just a cut like I usually get. The student has been there for three months now and she did such a wonderful job on my hair! The teacher then came back over and finished up the cut. For the first time in years I am satisfied with my bangs, I always come home and trim them but today they came out perfect! This is a wonderful and cheep place to go and the students have always been so sweet. I have never left upset, unsatisfied and always leave a tip, this place is great! read more

Just went here for the first time with my mom last week. She got a Facial and I got a scalp treetment and trim. My mom got took back at 1050am for her facial and didnt get out tell 1110am! It was off in a room on it own. She was vary happy and said that at first it was hard to relax with all the students in the room, but once she could it was good. Also it was well over a hour and so worth the $26 she paid. They make you pay for the sponge they use on you, its only a dollar. But its still would have been nice to know before hand as they have it listed as $25. My hair took less time about hour and that was with them leaving out a big part of the scalp treatment=( It was still worth the $14 I spent. But next time I will have to make sure they do the whole treatment. The ladies there where nice and the front desk was helpful! Its vary clean and open. read more

All the students that are there cutting hair are basically ready to work already and are just getting some last minute practice; they're not going to let a newb cut someone's hair and ruin their reputation. I found this hidden jewel by chance and so glad I decided to try this beauty school out. The place is very nicely nice and very clean, very professional, the students are friendly and work hard. The ladies who run the place are very friendly, go out of their way to make you comfortable, and they make sure your hair, nails, pedicure, facial is done perfect before you walk out the door. I needed to get my hair roots done, they matched it up perfectly, which is very hard to do for any salon, only charged me $12.00!!! :) Tammy did my hair for me and she was a delight to talk to, she did a beautiful job on my hair, I left feeling renewed and happy from the experience. I can't wait to go back again!! When I was done, the manager took me around the school to show me all the modern high tech equipment they have that I have NEVER seen at any beauty school.
