Best salon experience ever! The students/staff are extremely welcoming and professional. Makaila was everything you could ask for in a hairdresser. She listened to my request and delivered a great haircut. Everything from the wash to the blowout was executed better than what I have encountered at a much higher price point. I tried this option out of desperation when my regular stylist cancelled at the last minute, but I will definitely be a return customer. PLEASE READ!! I graduated a few months back and I have had some time to reflect on my experience here. I want to go ahead and say Ms. Shaunda, Ms. Cindy, and Ms. Blackshear absolutely made my entire experience here worth it. Their professionalism and wisdom helped me through so much and I want to think they are the reason I stayed at this school. The other staff members at this school were at times unprofessional, childish, rude, unreasonable, and disrespectful. They proved time and time again that they were inexperienced and truly didn't understand cosmetology. On multiple occasions they were completely unhelpful on client services as well as teaching services on our mannequin heads. At one point in my time here our instructor Ms. Megan was teaching us Men's haircuts (and I use the word "teaching" loosely) and as we did each assessment and got our results back each time it would say "good but needs more blending" but never explained what blending was or how to achieve the look she was talking about. On a separate occasion Ms. Megan brought gifts and cupcakes for a group of students who stayed the day before because a group of us left early. She told a student that stayed that they better show up the next day because she was going to bring gifts in order to humiliate those of us that left that day. That next morning they had a whole assembly with the entire school where they presented these gifts and cupcakes in an attempt to embarrass and humiliate those of us that left. Ms. Megan also discriminated against my gay friend Ishmael. She refused to say that he did drag when having us do an ice breaker activity where we all made up 2 truths and 1 lie. When she got to Ish's she read it out loud and instead of reading "I do drag" she read "I do dress up" as if she was disgusted by the idea. If that wasn't enough she wrote him up multiple times for reasons she couldn't explain saying that he was making comments that was "making others uncomfortable" . How is it acceptable to be this disrespectful, inappropriate, and unprofessional? Ms. Megan had no passion for teaching she was only there for the pay check. Ms. Neyda was our instructor for our Hairstyling Module. She had no idea what she was doing. She didn't teach us at all, she read the book to us and added no information or commentary that made the lecture more interesting. As someone who is 24 years old, I know how to read so it was very unnecessary. She also couldn't teach us most of the concepts in this module such as braiding, updos, pin curls, and finger waves. Instead of teaching us she showed us YouTube videos or had other teachers show us. If she didn't know how to teach the module then why did she. When we needed help she was no where to be found and when we tried to help each other she told us that wasn't allowed. So how was I expected to learn the concept if no one would help me. As well as not knowing how to teach us she also made it her mission to make every student's life miserable while they were here. She was completely unreasonable for certain rules that made no sense. At one point a student checked the time on their phone for literally one second so they could sign out and she told them to go home. The rule was we weren't allowed to be on our phones but it seems pretty unreasonable that we couldn't even check the time. The school also requires us to carry our entire kit in small shoebox sized plastic containers up 2 flights of stairs every morning due to the fact that there are not enough lockers in the school. As a result many of us were late multiple days due to having to carry multiple boxes up the stairs and only being given 5 min to do so. Overall, my experience at this school was horrific. Ms. Megan and Ms. Neyda are completely unprofessional and disrespectful to students and clients. I would like to reiterate that i had a wonderful experience with Ms. Shaunda, Ms. Cindy, and Ms. Blackshear but unfortunately that was completely overshadowed by Ms. Megan and Ms. Neyda. I would not recommend coming to this school it is not worth the energy. In the amount of money you save by going here you lose sanity from dealing with unreasonable instructors. read more

I graduate a few months ago, and after taking time to sit and reflect I am writing this now. I want to start by highlighting Ms. Cindy, Ms. Blackshear, and ms. Shaunda. These instructors always had a smile on their faces and ALWAYS had something encouraging to tell you! They do love their jobs and want what's best for all of us! Especially ms. Shaunda, when I started on this journey I was filled with self doubt and every step of the way ms. Shaunda was there from the start, supporting me and guiding me and filling me with encouragement even when I was lacking. HOWEVER, their were instructors who were completely unprofessional and disrespectful. (These 2 being Ms. Neyda and Ms. Megan. ) Everyday we came in they always had something un- encouraging to say. Ex. "The highlight client you did yesterday will need a bob because you fried their hair" or when Ms. Neyda would YELL across the floor asking if you did your chore even though she saw you do it 5 seconds ago. (I thought we had professionalism) Or the complete disrespect from Ms. Megan when she would play favorites with people and call you out for doing the EXACT SAME THING as someone else, yet she would go out of her way to single you out IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! This happened on multiple occasions with me included! Singling me out because I was gay and she was being homophobic. I would get in trouble for taking about my boyfriend because that's "inappropriate and gross" yet when the GIRLS would talk about their boyfriends that was no issue with her though. I also do drag yet on many occasions Ms Megan would say I "do dress up" while looking disgusted as she said it because she didn't wanna say "drag". and when it came up in lecture about different minority groups she would always whisper "gay" and look distraught that she had to say those words to my face. On my best friend's graduation while I was standing next to her with her flowers Ms. Megan came over on my friend's day and said "where are your clothes, you can't wear that you look naked!" How in any situation is that called for or APPROPRIATE especially from an instructor. Ms. Neyda and Ms. Megan TRULY should not be instructors as they don't care for students they only are there for a paycheck and not for the wellbeing of their students. Ms. Neyda was our instructor for "hairstyle" module and she couldn't teach it at all. She didn't know how to do any of the styling yet was suppose to be a professional teaching us students. She even had another instructor come in and teach us because she didn't know to. (How does a teacher not know how to teach or do their job). On one occasion I got written up by Ms neyda because I wasn't happy I got out on trash duty for the 5th day in a row even tho chores are suppose to be alternated every day! (Sorry I want jumping for joy and doing cartwheels when getting put on trash for a whole week!) Overall, I want to reiterate that Ms. Cindy, ms. Blackshear, and Ms shaunda are absolutely the highlights and the joy of this school. Always professional and encouraging and empathetic! Where as Ms. Neyda and Ms. Megan completely trashed my experience with this school! If you want to come here just know there truly are instructors who want the best for you and 2 others (neyda & Megan) who want nothing more than to single you out, embarrass you, make you feel like you aren't good enough, and completely disrespect, discriminate, and de humanize you. read more

I wanted to put this review for students looking for cosmetology schools. They know that it is a long time coming and I bet they will contact me asking me to take it down. I attended this school and was constantly harassed and bullied. Now I've looked at reviews and seen that they discriminated against kids for their sexuality or drag and against women of color. Although I don't know Ishmael and his friend below- I read their reviews and I will say I experienced similar. Other students can spend a lot of class time talking about them and their lives or their husbands and boyfriends and extreme details of their personal lives- but I was pulled and told I made people uncomfortable. What made people uncomfortable? Was that the other girls would literally FOLLOW me around, trying to pry into my personal life to obtain details and spread them to the entire school. Just because a student or employee is a woman doesn't give the workplace or school the right to pry into a woman's entire personal life- they tried to say "we are at school be professional" well they are unprofessional, literally prying into my entire life and details just so they can gossip about me. I signed up to obtain a cosmetology license, not tell strangers my entire life story and be gossiped about. What I experienced at this school was: I would study until 2 am and one time I asked in the students group chat what they studied to do well on quizzes. One time I had a flu and got a doctors note and then the students blew up in the group chat about how I was never in class, I missed 2 days and had a flu and ear infection. The group chat blew up, being rude bullying me about how I'm never in school. I have medical conditions, and I am a caretaker for a family member. Each time the students bullied me I or someone else brought it to teachers or administrators attention. Eventually I began to feel uncomfortable that we'd do Brazilians eventually and that the girls who bullied me would all have access to their phones this is like attending a doctor appointment or PE locker room being bullied and being undressed. The teachers would not stop any of the bullying. The teachers then pulled me into their office and said it's my fault. The other students, would approach me and then follow me downstairs into the outside parking lot trying to bully me further. They would approach me and try to figure out questions about my personal life. I would cry in the restrooms. I would recommend anyone avoid this school and eventually there is probably going to be some type of official look at how they handle these problems. Now they're trying to send me emails about paying for their kit. I am definitely not paying them anything. One student of theirs harassed me so bad. She began to question if I have a mental condition , and harassed me throughout class. I definitely do not have a mental condition and I almost have a college degree and a very successful life. Their students can be ignorant and uneducated. They may have produced students with esthetics or cosmetology licenses- but they're going to be estheticians that are providing services who will make clients feel uncomfortable in their service room getting undressed, if they have any perceived difference to the esthetician. No matter what work or place I go, I would welcome all people and I believe that's how it should be. Eventually it felt more like a military school- singling out and bullying- they would pull me aside about my name tag or things about my uniform- but other students can smoke weed out in the parking lot and harass me over the phone and in person. The experience was so bad for me that I am not willing to pay anything to the school as they keep sending it to collections. I'm writing this review because other people may be like me- some students signed up for drama while getting their license- I signed up JUST to get my license because I wanted to do 2 things: Provide beauty services Become independent with my own career. Salon success denied me the right to an education and possibly broke school California laws by doing nothing to stop me being literally followed around the school by other students. This schools teachers and administrators were more focused on saying I'm in the wrong for not wanting to be bullied, and wouldn't let me focus on getting an esthetics education. I would commit time to studying and I've been interested in the beauty world since I was a teenager but because I had perceived differences than other students I was singled out and other students saw it also. Me asking one question about what to study to pass quizzes ended up in a huge drama issue of how I'm "unprofessional". If you're looking to go for cosmetology or esthetics I would just recommend you find another program that will let you attend class without being asked questions about who you're dating or if you have a "mental condition". This place is AMAZING!! Waaaay better than Paul Mitchell school in Orange County and better than any salon I have used in the last 14 years since I moved here and why? The instructor Mr Leo! He is a true stylist and I know good stylists as my family had a salon as well as my best friend's family had one in Chicago so I was lucky to grow up in this industry. Unlike Paul Mitchell. that completely ruined my long hair and had to cut it off to my chin because the instructors do not help their students, Mr Leo actually assists in the cutting and color selection. It was incredible, he was a hands on instructor educating the student as she was cutting my hair and he kept walking around checking in to ensure she was on point, always available for questions, very approachable. At the end, the student and I both knew the lengths were not even but I said we would address after the blow out and Mr Leo came to check and he finished the final cut while explaining to the student. THAT is how you train. BRAVO!! Hair cuts and colors are not cheap, I have never walked out looking even remotely like the inspiration picture, it's really sad. When you come here, you will actually get a professional cut and color because Mr Leo is the final stylist and I will now definitely keep coming back! Updated review.... Banned from Beauty School! After the communication challenge listed on my rl1st review with "Miss Meghan" I scheduled another appointment. Partly, to have a "corrective experience" (yes, I am a psychologist) and partly to say goodbye to the dear student I had spent the Summer with, having blowouts every week! When I arrived, the teacher Mr. Leo (delightful, such a great instructor) maning the reception area alerted the Director, Ms. Blackshear (perhaps the most beautiful woman I have ever seen) at her previous request, to meet me in the lobby prior to checking in for my service. There, she stated she had contacted the home office and "since I had called there, called her location (she was not available to discuss), spoken to one of the other employees maning the phones the day of the Ill fated communication with "Miss Meghan" and posted a review, (I had made FOUR phone calls prior to posting, no one was available to discuss) I "was no longer able to obtain services at that location." She handed me a pamplet referring me to other school locations. In shock, I began to cry (something I typically do not do). At that point she further explained, "Miss Meghan does not feel comfortable with you being here for services." At this point I think I began to cry more! She then hugged me and very kindly stated, "would you like to discuss this with her, perhaps we could come to a resolution?" She escorted me to her beautiful office. I noticed a plaque on the wall I will never forget...."I would cry but my mascara is too expensive." By this time, mine was running down my face! She handed me a box of Kleenex, retreated from her office, to locate "Miss Meghan" She asked her to come in for a conference....She declined. Mrs. Blackshear then stated to me, "she said she did not feel to discuss this at the present time." In closing, I have thought about this review over the last 48 hours prior to posting an update. I stand by my original review. It is accurate, authentic and most of all an HONEST depiction of events. As a Dr. assisting individuals "in living their best quality of this beautiful life" for over 25 years I am deeply saddened by this experience. Most importantly, the reaction "Miss Meghan" had to my request for discussion and understanding of both sides of communication in hopes of a resolution. In closing, the school upheld the teachers word over mine without a possibility of resolution, I was "Banned from Beauty School" on " World Mental Health Day" no less. I am laughing at that at least! And yes, my Channel Mascara running down my face ruined my makeup! Even funnier! So the picture of my hair was how my hair looked before it got messed up. I came in for a blowout by the night student Jasmine and she requested to color match my hair, even though it wasn't really grown out and I believe she wanted to do it for her portfolio as she was going to graduate from the program soon.... The color I had before disaster was highly sought out and you easily charge someone 600 bucks to do it. Anyways, for some reason, they couldn't color match the hair I had so they decided to do something similar and I agreed as long as I could dye my hair back to the original color by myself once it's grown out. The side-by-side is the roots and the rest of my hair. The roots are a copper color and the rest of my hair was brown. After contacting Jasmine and showing her my hair, she said that it wasn't brown that because my hair was already still light on the bottom. It was just coming out more rich. I didn't know coming out more rich meant the color completely changes lmaooo(it doesnt she just doesnt wanna take responsibility) and then all that was the reconciliation was that I could come back and let the instructor look at it so there was no clear pathway as to how my hair was going to get fixed. I ended up fixing my hair by myself, but I was lucky that I had already healthy hair to be able to dye it at the amount of times I did and use color remover multiple times. She made me leave with wet hair, and when I said that the bottom half of my hair looked brown. She just said it was because it was wet, which is the dumbest excuse and it just was to get me out of there to not cause a scene in front of her peers and instructor. i know RCC does NOT let students mix the dyes for this specific situation, they have the instructors doing the mixing at all times. So yeah, thats the story, get a blowout only at this point! She might not go far in this industry since she couldnt even take accountability for this mistake, cant have an ego. if i could get to this color by myself with no schooling how hard can it really be????? read more

I since graduated from the Corona campus and while I started my journey later in my years, older than most and feeling extremely out of place, Ms. Charlene in admissions was inviting, kind, informative and professional, which was appealing to me, aside from my Lord and Savior, placing me where He wanted me to be. And in the interim I made friendships with some wonderful ladies who made me feel at home. Atmosphere is very structured, which is understandable to avoid a lot of chaos. Adhering to guidelines and by coming to school as often as you can was a victory I had already won. As for the curriculum, it could use more hands on with haircutting and color, more in depth color theory, discussions on hair care products and when to use them but overall, I learned more than I knew and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity. They offer workshops and special event outings that can help you gain insight and network your brand which can help build your clientele. Clients you work on when you're on the floor that love what you do send good referrals and the tips are nice too! The director, Mr. M, has been in the beauty industry for a very long time. He is very passionate at what he does , knowledgeable, very quick and efficient, that alone had driven me the whole way through. I am a handicapped person and was denied service that I previous PAY FOR. They refuse to look at the receipt they themselves have provided saying that the they have never had such a sale. I was in my wheelchair, my sister was trying to explain the situation, they kept on denying service. The manager came and without even asking what the problem and told us to leave and even call the police on us. The Corona police was not any help as they never even asked us what the problem was, they took THEIR side and told us to leave and to complain on YELP and The Better BUSINESS BUREAU !! I started school here in March 2025 and had such a great experience! The staff and instructors were incredibly supportive every step of the way. I learned so much, and the time truly flew by. Took my daughter last night for a shampoo and hair cut with one of the students, Isabel. My daughters hair came out beautiful! She was very happy! You need to be patient and kind, remember they are students! We will definitely visit again! read more

As a former student, I strongly urge any people looking to attend here to not. It is completely unorganized and does not follow any of the OSHA guidelines, the staff treat the students very poorly. The director of the school is by far the worst as she does not care for the quality of education we receive. The school is money driven, telling us we will only practice modalities if we pay for our own supplies, and we will practice only on paying clients. Ms. Natasha, Ms.Blackshear, &Mr M are by far the most corrupted staff there. My class in specific got the worst of it as for the 8 months we attended, we had 9 different teachers teaching us, most of which were never actually ever teaching us things we needed for the state board. The instructors will speak to you like children and will gossip and hide in supply closets instead of instructing. Ms. Natasha blatantly disrespected a student and when some of the class spoke up and called her out on it, we were all sent home unfairly, many of us were suspended unfairly including those who did not have any part in that situation and when we attempted to speak to HR we were shutdown and told they can only believe the instructors. One student even got in contact with the owner and was also shutdown, the owner does not care that she employs careless and power tripped instructors, she only cares about the money going into her pocket. The only good part was they accept fafsa, if you are able to and don't need to rely on fafsa i would definitely recommend not choosing to attend here. read more

I've been going to Salon Success for approximately 6 months to get root touch up, haircut and highlights and I have walked out pleased every time. Today I had two wonderful people as well Rose and Natasha are awesome..Natasha took over for Rose at lunch time and washed my tint out. She gave me such a great massage that I almost fell asleep. My color came out beautiful and my looks amazing after blowout. I highly recommend Salon Success, the teachers are so awesome! They are on top of everything the students are doing.
