This is a good place to go if you're not in a hurry. Monica was very friendly and took great care while cutting my hair. It took about two hours to get my layers done, but I understand it's a school and the students are learning. Overall, I'm happy with the results and appreciate the care that was taken. Kate did an amazing job with my hair! I originally came in for a full color and haircut to cover my grays, but my experience ended up being even better than I expected. During check-in, the instructor took the time to screen everyone and clearly explained to the student exactly what she would be doing with my hair, which immediately put my mind at ease. I felt so comfortable that I asked if they would be able to do a money piece as well, and she eagerly said yes! All of the students were professional, attentive, and followed their instructor's guidance carefully. I would not reccomend this salon. I have had my hair done by a cosmetology student before so I understand they are learning, but my stylist J DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. Every cut he had to ask for instructor assistance. He brushed my hair so hard, my head is sore. He didn't hold the hair at the roots to prevent pulling. I arrived at 9:30 and was told they accidentally made my appt for Friday instead of today. I told them I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow (Thursday) so there's no way I would have made it for Friday. Thankfully they had an opening, so they took me right back. By 11:30 I had to tell them I needed to be out by noon to pick up my child from school. At this point the haircut still wasnt finished. I was told I could give up the remaining services or come back. I returned after a couple hours (hour round trip). J went ahead and completed the blow dry. However my hair does NOT look like the picture. I questioned them before I left and they told me they did long layers. I had shown J the picture since the beginning but apparently he didnt tell his is to his instructor. I wouldn't have driven back for just a blow dry, I thought they were going to fix my hair. I have attached the requested hairstyle and the end product. I gave a two star review since my hair isn't embarrassing, but definitely not what I asked for. Furthermore when a client is in the seat, they should be the priority. J constantly was asking other student how their lunch/break was, what were their weekend plans or other off topic questions. I did not feel like a priority which clearly delayed the service rendered for multiple hours. I would be willing to return to have this fixed at a later time, but at this time I will reccomend friends & family stay away. read more

I don't recommend this salon. Someone make my appointment for highlights at 8:30 am I requested for later appointment but he said that's the only appointment available. I agreed. When I get there the door was locked and I knocked. Some lady opened the door and said we open at 9:30 AM. When I asked her why someone gave me 0830 appointments she told me that it might be a student. Students should be shadow by a trainer why they made wrong appointments. Anyway I spent one hour in the parking lot then went back, signed in. Same lady told me that " to make sure it will take whole day to highlight your half hair. I feel like they're not professional. They should properly guide a student how to make appointments. Their business hours are written on the door 8:30 to 0500 pm Second they should have told us how long it takes during the appointment. I don't feel comfortable getting my hair done and left. read more

This is a school, and these are students. They are learning. The work done here will vary as there are differet levels of expierenced stylist on the floor. Some do amazing work! Others do average work. Then sometimes , not often, but sometimes it can be a total miss. But the best part of any expierence is that the instuctors will take any corrective measure to ensure your satisfaction. The instructors are vigilent and mindful of the work being done. I have gone here for many years, overall i would give the school a solid 8 out of 10 . read more

Dealt with a very unprofessional and rude lady yesterday with black hair and red streaks. I do not recommend this place at all. The staff are not on the same page, and I was given conflicting information depending on who I spoke with. Instead of trying to help or clarify the situation, she was dismissive, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Customer service should be consistent and respectful, and unfortunately that was not my experience here. I won't be returning and would not recommend this business to others. read more

This is for deaf awareness for anyone reading. Do not waste your time here. When I asked about an interpreter, Mary Rosas told me I would need to provide my own. That response is disappointing, uneducated, and unlawful. Every school, private or not, is responsible under the Americans with Disabilities Act to provide reasonable accommodations, including ASL interpreting. If this school accepts FAFSA or Pell Grants, the responsibility is even greater. Mary Rosas, and anyone else who responds this way, should be grateful I am not wasting my time on a lawsuit. I do work with GLAD and disability advocates, but I refuse to spend energy on ignorance. For a campus in Riverside, a city with a large deaf community, this lack of awareness shows no training, no responsibility, and no respect. If you want to work in a school or any role of importance, you should already know the laws. It should not take me reminding you of your responsibilities. I will not waste another minute here. Avery and Navene (I apologize if he sees this and I spelt his name wrong) are both amazing barbers at this location. They fixed a poor haircut I got at another barbershop (even as students there!) I also have to give big props to Alonso who cut my son's hair. My son is autistic and he made him very comfortable and he was extremely patient with him and even got him chatting about games and all of his favorite things. I came with my mom & sister to have my elderly mom get a hair shampoo with a blow drying. The students are supervised by a professional stylist teacher and they pay close attention to details. They were very caring and overall did a great job! They have the day shift (9am-5pm) and the evening shift (5:30-9:30 pm). The evening shift has more availability. read more
