Way fun!!! I found hubby's favorite gummy bears. SCORED The check out was smooth, and the cashier was really sweet, nice folks working. The place was ravished in areas, very busy. It was my first time to Ollies and I was super excited. Started to fill my cart up, feeling the Christmas shopping bug and holiday spirit. Then I get to the rug section to look at a few rugs. A lady a few feet away from me kindly asked the young employee if he could help her look at a rug because it was under a pile. He looked at her like she asked him to dig to China on his day off, then he marched over and said, which one? I'll jut let you imagine his tone of voice. She showed him the rug and this is when I couldn't look away. He said, and I will quote almost exactly, " That is an ugly rug. You want that one, you actually like it? She said, "Well, I like the rug. He said, Whatever you want, but that's an extremely ugly rug. I couldn't help myself, so I had to ask if they knew each other. She said no. Shocked, I said, "If you were my son, I would give you a piece of my mind, you should never speak to a customer that way. A few men that were walking near me popped up and agreed with me. What a bitter miserable human being to want to speak to another person that way. He just smirked at us. I had to walk away because it was too crazy to confront any further. I said my piece. I was told there were no managers to speak with, so I am here. It's a shame, because I believe in giving businesses a chance to resolve issues on their own before going to the internet, but they don't care. I was super nice on the phone and told them I just need to make Ollies aware of the situation so that they could speak with the employee about his behavior or maybe he need to go home and sleep his anger off. Someone needs to have an adult conversation with that kid. Either that or he is trying to get fired or in a confrontation. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. People don't treat each other that way around here. That is what makes Knoxville so special. Okay, I have said my piece and hopefully Ollies brings up ethics and the importance of kindness in one of their meetings. It's the holidays people! P.S. They have something for every room in your home, including trendy kitchen and bath gadgets that you didn't even know that you need to function. The store is well-organized and staff was friendly. Did I mention the prices? Home Goods is in the same family as TJ Maxx and Marshall's, so you know you're in for a sweet deal. I will also be coming here for seasonal items, as they have both decor and treats for every major holiday. I was able to find winter vase filler and a hard-to-find candy on the same visit.

No one explained the new plus sizing to him, 0, 1, 2 etc. So this robe is HUGE. After Christmas I went in to exchange sizes and was told no. They still had robes of this type on the sales floor. But not my size, which would have required them to order another. I understand that that would have been a pain. I understand it would have minimized the profit. But I now own a robe that must be altered. My husband was so proud of his purchase and so disappointed it did not fit, that I will have it altered. In addition, the clerk said she would see what she could do and would ask the manager/owner to call me, but instead she had to call me back to give me the bad news. The news that the shop was not willing to do anything. Again I will say, pretty things but I will not be back, neither will any of my friends. Buyer Beware.

I guess my preconceived notions of what it might or might not be caused me to overlook this hidden gem. This store has a little bit of everything from groceries to housewares to games to party favors to cards to seasonal items -- just about everything you might want or need at only $1 each. I send a ton of cards: birthday, sympathy, thank you, contratulations, etc. At a regular store, even Walmart, five cards can bust your budget. Not so here. The cards are not castaways. They are Hallmark and other name brand cards, the likes of which would be found in other stores, BUT ... they are only $1 apiece. The employees here are friendly and helpful, the store has always been neatly blocked and stocked. The seasonal items are especially cool to look through (I got some cool Santa ornaments for only $1) Did I say "only $1"? You betcha. Try this out and you'll be hooked.
