This shop had been on my Instagram for a while so we had to stop by while in Maryville. The shop is so cute with several rooms all decked out with clothing, decor, kitchen items, gifts, jewelry and leather. I purchased a darling bee necklace and a tee. The service was so good. I'm local to California but needed to get a welcome gift for a newborn out in Tennessee. It's experiences like this that I love love love to support local businesses rather than finding some random online business that ships nationally. There were some issues with my payment that I nearly passed on making my purchase. However, I got a personal call from the shop owner who ensured there was a technical difficulty and confirmed if I still wanted to purchase the items. I am so glad I said yes! It was a wonderful buying experience. The employee who called was kind and helpful in answering my questions. They took the time to hand write a note for me and attached it to the teddy bear. Dandy Lions is awesome. They have so much stuff in here! This is the perfect spot to visit after you get a cup of coffee from Vienna. Just stop in.. look around...and I dare you not to buy something. Oh, and if you have an occasion coming up and you need to buy a gift this is definitely the place. The store is separated into vignettes or sections; for women's handbags, for babies, for cancer survivors, for monogram-everything, for jewelry, etc. My favorite section is probably the area you walked past and you didn't even know it. Right in the entryway is a great selection of paintings and mini-images that are super cute! In fact, the building itself is apparently and old library or something used by the college or municipality. What a pretty space! Wow. Now I REALLY love this pretty shop. If you have the dough..come here for your wedding invitations. Gorgeous. Oh, and I've had excellent customer service here by the way. read more

I love this shop! Dandy Lions has a wonderful variety of unique boutique gift selections...jewelry, home decor, apparel just to name a few. Joy and her staff are always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. This is a place where you can find the perfect gift for a friend without having to visit dozens of websites and then worry about whether it will arrive on time and/or in good condition. Plus, they do a lovely job gift wrapping so you don't have to! I have to add that this is the only store besides Home Depot that my husband will go to (willingly) with me...which is good if we're out and about and I need something...and bad if I'm on a spree! This is a gorgeous shop! It is located in a historic building, the original Blount County Library, and it has a lot of character and charm. You can easily park, enjoy the coffee shop next door, take in the farmers market, and stroll around downtown (don't miss the other local boutiques, Village Tinker and Raspberries). This is a higher end shop but they have a nice marked down corner and honestly it is just fun to look around. Lots of interesting merchandise! They offer paper printing services which is pretty unique and fun to browse (hello wedding invites and baby showers!). The staff is typically friendly but I have encountered staff in the past that didn't bother to say hello or offer assistance. I do highly recommend this shop though. read more

Dandy Lions is an asset to Maryville and Blount County. It's unbelievable to see what Dandy Lions did to renovate the old Harper Memorial Library in downtown Maryville. No matter what you need, Dandy Lions has the right gift for you. They have everything you might need for a baby shower, wedding shower, wedding, hostess gift, teacher gift, holiday party, or whatever reason you need. I've shopped at Dandy Lions for gifts for co-workers, back to school gifts, wedding gifts, baby shower gifts, and Christmas gifts. The staff at Dandy Lions is top notch. They are always helpful, and they offer me suggestions for gift ideas every time I visit. They're never in the way, but they're always present to help if needed. Dandy Lions can also help with corporate gifts. DENSO Manufacturing uses Dandy Lions annually for employee appreciation events, and the owner, Joy Carver, goes out of her way to make everyone at the event feel valued. If you need wedding or party invitations, Dandy Lions is the place for you. They have everything you could ever imagine, and the staff is very creative when helping with styles, wording, and other options. Let me start out by saying that I'm a huge supporter of local businesses. My brother owns a very successful local business and I know how difficult and challenging it can be. With that said, I had a bad experience at DL. I have two small children and do not have time to shop here except on my lunch hour. I stopped by DL on my lunch break to purchase a couple of unique gifts for Christmas. I was the second person in line to check-out when shortly after I was in line there were approximately 8 people behind me waiting to check out. We had a couple of gifts for personalization and I was waiting to hear back as to what letter I needed for my personalization which took a couple of minutes. This apparently upset Joy (the owner) and Joy decided that she was going to personalize my gift last. Amy, the lady checking people out, treated me like a total stranger when I was trying to get Joy's attention to give her the letter by giving me a hateful look and asking "can I help you with something". At this time Amy didn't tell Joy that I was trying to get her attention she just kept checking other customers out. I finally had to get Joy's attention to tell her what I needed. Joy then acted as if I had inconvenienced her by telling her what letter that I needed and taking her away from what she was doing. Joy proceeds to personalize everyone's gift behind me, as if I were 5 years old and she is punishing me for taking a couple of minutes to confirm the letter for personalization. There was no communication this entire time to let me know that she was planning to do my gift last. So I continued to wait for 50 minutes for my gift to be personalized...again I'm on my lunch break and not once did they look at me and update me on their progress or ask if I could come back at a later time to pick up my gift. Communication is extremely important part of customer service. Finally, the very last lady to check-out was waiting on her personalization when Joy (the owner) brought her gifts to her and said numerous times in a very loud voice so that I could hear "how much she appreciated this lady's patience and that's why she went ahead and took care of her first.". There were several times that I continued to check to see if they were working on my gift, due to being the second person to check-out, and I guess this was perceived as being impatient. I did not say a word the entire time but did tell her at the end that I was on my lunch break. Joy tried to be nice to me at the end but the damage was done. Unfortunately, I will no longer shop at DL. I have already shared my experience with others but do hope that if they decide to shop here they do not have the same experience. There is nothing that is sold in the store that I cannot find online. I don't mind to pay a higher price to support local businesses however this local business no longer has my support. read more
