I am enraged with the experience I just had at this place. And I got no drinks.
Before I proceed with my review I will say that the massage was great! Worth every dollar! That is the reason why I am giving it one star. The masseuse is friendly, professional and kind. A+
If you want the short version here it is:
My mom had to take her blood pressure pill because she felt disrespected, neglected and plainly abused. Her face broke my heart.
Lets start with saying that I called around 11 am and asked all the necessary questions. I also said I would be coming around 4 with my mom for a refill (nail thing) and I would get a one hour massage. Great! The person on the phone also said they took walk-ins. Perfect!
I am a local (who lives in the states) and the trip to Old San Juan is precisely that. A trip that I was looking forward to do with my mom. I took into consideration the parking fees ($14) and a place to eat ($33.00). It was supposed to be a great afternoon with my mom. It was totally ruined.
I get there and I get a very unorganized, low class vibe right off the bat. I thought it was spa-ish but it is very, very chill. Which I was in the mood to overlook because I was in the mood to overlook that kind of thing.
There's no greeter nor a counter, Ok, I'll talk to the bartender. She notifies everyone immediately. Cool. Enter all my problems.
The first thing the nail artist says is that she is hungry, that after the current client she will go to eat and she won't take care of my mother for a good another hour after she leaves to eat. What?! I called. Ok, let's hope she doesn't take the full break and takes care of my mother. She did way worse than that.
I get called for my 60 min. massage very quickly before I can asses the situation better and decide to leave as any person who plays in teams would do. My piña colada came as I am laying down on the massage table so I can't take it and by the time I was done they had forgotten.
The nail artist took 55 mins with the client I mentioned. She never took a break. She talked on the phone. Came in to check my mom and said that what she could do on her nails was going to look ugly and just plain bad. Just before I came out she went back to my mom and said that she had *just* ran out of materials for nails. That the boss was out of town and it was the boss who brought her the acrylic. OMG! So many excuses. Plain lies. There's a place called Sally's where everybody and their mother buys supplies. BS!
I told the bartender and she was a more preoccupied about the situation, got my phone number down and said she would tell the "person in charge". She went back to this nail artist and asked about the whole thing but the nail artist was already packing and ready to dart out the door like an unleashed dog.
To my dismay I came out of my massage and saw my mother sitting in the same chair in had left her an hour ago. I was heartbroken.
I guess if you are a tourist you will like it. I'm guessing some sort of "no locals" policy. If you are from out of town they would drop the red carpet.
I want to barf so bad. I need another massage to make up for this experience. This time I will go to a pricier place with all the credentials.
I also want to add that while I was getting my massage I could hear the outside voices and music. I think the massage area need a proper door not just curtains. read more
