Came here on a Sunday, and they were short on technicians and were pretty busy. No problem, patience is a virtue. My friend got an hour massage and was not disappointed. They charge $1 a minute for massages. Manicures are $17+ Pedicures $25+ Gel Manis $27 I got a foot massage and was excellent! They have a bar and Vietnamese food. Was in desperate need of a fill-in as I've been in PR for a couple of weeks and finally found a spa that addressed my needs. Anam spa looks like a bar upon arrival, you actually have to walk in passed it to see the manicure stations. Friendly service, I don't think they do many acrylic nails there because it took a long time HOWEVER my nails came out gorgeous so I'm happy. I took off a star because the place was pretty beaten down looking.. No view of the water from the manicure chairs.. And I didn't get any free sangria as advertised.. This is the only place walking distance from the cruises port and the old San Juan hotels. I had Claudia and she was sweet and paid attention to detail. This is where lots of locals get their nails done. Not an overpriced spa for the tourist like in the hotels. They DO have shellac in hundreds of colors and they do acrylic also. Follow the map and you can get there...its uphill in a row of restaurants and businesses at the very end with some outdoor seating. It took me 7 minutes walking from the old San Juan Sheraton right across from the cruise boats. Same pricing I pay back home. About 25-30$ for mani or a pedi. Everyone speaks English and the owner was very kind and very interested to know I was happy with the work. One prior review said the place was "run down" but it's OLD SAN JUAN! Everything is old! Lol the salon is very clean and the work stations were clean. Such a simple walk on the way back I didn't use the map. read more

I loved this place. My friend and I really needed our nails done and we went to some place in the non tourist area of Puerto Rico which was like the worse idea ever our nails looked like total crap. I saw this place and wanted to give it a try despite some of the negative reviews I wanted to find out for myself. This location is in the heart of old San Juan with a beautiful view. Don't go here if you're looking for a day spa that reminds you of one in Beverly Hills because it's not a glamour looking space but it definitely has a beautiful vintage appearance to it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED After a tiring day walking around San Juan in rain puddles, this was was heaven sent. It is right by the water in centre of down town by the port. Also close to taxi stand so i was able to get to the hotel without walking too much. Enjoyed Sangria while my feet were worked on. While in Puerto Rico I had the opportunity to treat my friends to a spa day! Something they haven't had the chance to enjoy for a while. I searched via Yelp and Anam Spa was the first location that popped up and have the most reviews. I'm all about Yelp reviews when I'm traveling. So here's mine! I loved that I was able to make my reservation on Yelp, as I do not speak much Spanish and wanted to make sure we had an appointment set. The online reservations through Yelp was EASY and FAST! Less than an hour that someone responded. And when we had to adjust our appointment time, they were very accommodating! When we arrive their pedi spa bowls were waiting on them. Though we were still late {my friend had us super lost in Old San Juan} the ladies were so sweet about it. Both of my friends truly enjoyed their pedis, and thank you thank you thank you anam spa for spending extra time on my friends pedi {he's a guy...just saying lol}. Thank the Lord I found Anam! I broke a few nails while exploring Puerto Rico and Claudia, my nail tech, saved the day. I had acrylic nails and she did a refill no problem! It was about an hour and a half long appointment but I was her last client and I did arrive late, yet she waited for me (the traffic in Old San Juan from Isla Verde is no joke; what would normally have been a 20min drive on a week day was an hour drive on a Sunday). You get a free sangria too! I saved it for when I went to grab the Pho from the front of the spa and lemme tell you.. I'm Vietnamese and I hate pho because of how often I would have had it growing up and it was DELICIOUS!!! Just like my mama's cooking. I like to eat my pho with a little more flavor so I asked for more lime and fish sauce but just by itself, it was already a delicious broth. I am so happy to have found this spot that does nails perfectly AND serves authentic, delicious pho. read more

After spending too many nights dancing into the wee hours of the morning and walking circles around Old San Juan, our feet were in desperate need of some personal attention. A couple of random internet searches and Anam appeared to us like a beacon in the night (dramatic, I know). $20 bucks for a 20 minute foot massage and a glass of sangria. Whoever thought of this place is a freaking genius! Relaxed in a soothing foot bath while some stranger gave me the best foot massage ever, oils and scrubs included. My girls and I left no longer hobbling along. The staff was nice enough, not overly friendly which worked well for us because we wanted to chat with each other a bit and then not talk at all for a few minutes and just enjoy the moment. Fabulous find! My tootsies were in desperate need of love, and I needed a place in Old San Juan. A quick search on Yelp offered slim picks and -to my utter dismay- it showed that Anam was closed. WHAT!? Imagine my surprise when -strolling down Calle Cristo intent on reminiscing about my childhood visits to el Parque de las Palomas- I found the place was open. Forget the pigeons! I made my way there in a flash. All services priced at $15+ get you a free house drink (in my case, it was an orange and rum punch), which was a huge incentive. Keep in mind -as other reviewers have griped- that this is not the place where you come in quest for a meditative experience. All facial and massage services are done in the same room separated only by curtains. However, if you want a mani-pedi, friendly service and a fun atmosphere this is the place to be. Also, be sure to bring cash. The day I visited the credit card machine was not working, so I had to make a mad dash to an ATM. Though I was told it was temporary, my cousin tells me the system has never worked the times she's visited. read more

I'm only giving this one star bc of the free sangria. Came here for some relaxing therapy, but got the complete opposite. First off, the massage therapist didn't talk to me, didn't ask me what I want from the massage. Got completely no privacy to change, so I was unsure if I was suppose to get undress down to my undies. And the only thing that separated the massage room from the nail salon area was a curtain! Seriously? Definitely not sound proof or light proof. My head was too distracted from the loud noise outside and the bright sun that happened to land right on my eyes. My hands and feet came out looking great! For $53 I got a manicure, pedicure, my one free drink and an additional drink. Other Yelpers mention that it's not the most meditative place for a massage, but to have a drink with your mani pedi it is absolutely perfect. It is loud for a salon but quiet for a bar. The doors of the salon open up to a view of the ocean and the mountains, which is absolutely beautiful. There was a birthday party there today - looked like fun! read more

AVOID AT ALL COST. Travellers beware, it may seem like a cool place to stop before you jump on a cruise. Trust me, this is the worst nail service I've ever experienced and it was expensive. I went to Anam on Sunday Nov 18th to have a toenail repaired after someone stepped on my foot and broke my toenail in half. The first nail she applied was so short it looked like a chiclet. I had to ask the nail tech to fix it and this is what she did. My 9 year old could have done a better job. Absolutely unprofessional and clearly not a trained nail technician. Save your money and your stress. Find another location so you won't be disappointed. I ended up paying for my service only to have to go elsewhere to fix the mess she made. When the second spa saw the work that I paid for she told me I should not have paid. read more

I love the idea of the tiny bar/spa! We had beers while we waited for our turn and I believe you get a free sangria with your service. My pedicure was fine and as someone else mentioned, the person I had was not chatty but that was perfectly fine with me-I was too busy zoning out. Obviously, this concept wouldn't work at a strip mall nail shop, but it worked here. The decor was done in an Asian/Thai style with lots of dark wood and Buddha heads. Things that are awesome about this place: - concept - view - drinking while being pampered - bar is pretty separate from salon so anyone waiting on you can hang out comfortably and wait for you if needed - bartender was really friendly and nice Things that can be improved: - service: i made an appointment weeks before and still had to wait. No one greeted me upon my arrival and once they had my name they just said, "ok" and left it at that. I wasn't sure whether to wait at the bar or stand outside or what, and the girls all returned to intense conversations that I felt bad interrupting. I figured it out but not the kind of service I usually get, even in my divey nail salon at home. My pedicurist made me feel like I was intruding on her girls weekend or something. She was really friendly and talkative to everyone around her (who all seemed to be locals) but gave me one word answers when I tried to engage her in conversation, and she rushed through the pedicure. I don't always like to chit chat either but it felt rude. - Atmosphere is a hacked together, so it' doesn't exactly feel classy or spa-like. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and it was fun to do on vacation. I may stop in again when I'm back in San Juan but now that I've been once, it won't be on my "must-do" list anymore. read more
