Had an appointment with Amy to have my roots done. While she was very cool, I just don't think she was paying attention to my processing. She put on 25 volume and left it on me for a very, very long time (long enough to wash, cut, and blow dry another client she had in at the same time). When she finally washed me out, she said she needed to do a toner on it to tone it down. It actually took 2 toners (which I had to pay for each, of course). The end result is that my roots are MUCH blonder than the rest of my hair and the two toner applications appeared to have done nothing (or, at least, I wonder how bad it looked before!). Plus, the level of blond is nearly toe-head, which really looks awful on me and is not at all what I wanted. I just wanted my roots brought up to the rest of my hair. I am now debating going somewhere else for corrective color, but I am worried that my hair will just break. It is starting to break already. I look like crap! read more

At Anant Salon since they opened and the job she does putting me back together is the only thing holding this fragile ego together. After a haircut from Amy I get carded for the next three weeks at bars, she can make you look that good. At week four, The requests for dates slows to only a moderate stream. At week six business is still so good my boss gives me a raise. Two months in and I couldn't be happier, my girlfriend still thinks I'm handsome. What more could you ask for? I had an interview coming up and wanted to look my best. I went in and explained I was interested in a new style. After some discussion with Amy, she made a suggestion, and I was instantly game for something so drastic. She was so confident and reassuring... who knew it was a sales pitch. When she was done, I felt awesome! And the compliments I got - for three and a half weeks! But when I went back in for a trim, that was where my beautiful hair stopped. In the midst of introducing me to friends, her dog, and other staff, offering me wine, asking if I wanted my hair the same as before - Oh, cool, I thought - she must have taken notes or remembered - squirt, squirt, squirt... she put something in my hair - 'oh your hair is so dry', she exclaimed. Mush, mush, mush - rubbing it in. 'okay, lets go wash!' What?!!! I had just showered and washed my hair!!! So... she... Starts. Cutting. My. Hair. I quickly realized she didn't have a flipping clue as to what she had done just a short month prior. Given the end result and utter horror, to save time, she should have just used a #2 clipper guard and made it a half inch all over my head!!! On top of that, she charged me double!!! Did I express my frustration? I whispered to her, so others wouldn't hear my shock. Near tears, I asked why, that as short as it was, it was too late to fix it... But wait - I'm not the only one...my friend Cindy went to her too for a color. By the time Amy was done with her, the gorgeous blonde color was screwed up something awful, and Cindy Had. To. Pay. an extra $60 to get it fixed, on top of the original $200. Comparing our experiences, I mentioned to my pal what happened to me, she retold the conversation she overheard when she walked in, Amy telling her staff 'no matter what, all heads get washed'... Quick way to increase the bill huh? Maybe I should have asked for a nice cut of prime rib instead, being the butcher shop... And the solicitation from them that Just. Won't. Stop. Amy is amazing. She gave me purple hair! This was my first time ever dying my hair and I was nervous yet excited. Since Amy is a color specialist, I kind of gave her full reign of the project. She knew what colors and shades would look good given my fair skin tone and rosacea. She also interviewed me for a bit to get to know my personality so she could color my hair according to me and my personality. Who does that?! She is so invested in her clients and she got just as excited as I was to start this project. She is so fun and funny and just an awesome person to spend 2 hours with while getting your hair done. What a great haircut! Haircut includes a head/scalp massage and shoulder massage and probably the best cut I've had in years! My hair is curly but can go pretty straight so getting a cut that works for both isn't always easy. But I had an amazing cut fist time around !!
