Thank you! ---------------------------------- This review is not for Dr Paredez, who is honestly a wonderful doctor - but for his office. It is literally impossible to get in touch with anyone there. I've tried calling multiple times throughout the day, waited on hold for 15+ minutes only for someone to pick up the phone and immediately hang up. I've tried leaving a message both on the phone and on their site - no response most of the time, occasionally a call back (roughly 1 out of 5-6 times). I was told the office would contact me to schedule labs but of course, nobody did, so now I am just waiting indefinitely. I rarely post Yelp reviews, but am so frustrated with the quality of care here that I have to look for alternatives and hope that enough such reviews will get the attention of the doctor and perhaps something will change eventually. I plan to look for alternate care- not because of the doctor (who is, again, wonderful) but because there is just no way to ever get in touch with anyone in this office.

If you are reading this, you are probably in need of a medical professional. I mean, nobody reads these for fun right? Six months ago I was taken to the ER . At 11 pm nurses came into my room to tell me I was going downstairs for emergency surgery and they would contact my wife. When I woke up next morning I had a hole in me as big as a coffee cup saucer. I also had colostomy bag attached to my waist. The surgeon that did the surgery on me, from what I understand now, probably saved my life. When the surgeon came in the next morning, he told me how close I was. He also assured me the colostomy bag "WOULD BE" reversable after the gapping hole closed up. After the hole closed, my home care WONDERFUL nurse Diane, began reaching out to the doctor. The same doctor WHO: rescued me that night from sepsis. Attached the Colostomy bag. And then assured me "IF," a reversal could be done," HE" would be the guy to do it. CRICKETS. NOTHING. Dianes calls. My wife calls. MY CALLS. No call back. When we gave up on that doctor we went to a couple other docs who did exact same reversal. Things got real very quik. One doctor would not call us back and two other doctors selling gloom and doom that went along with the "DIFFICULTY'' of my procedure. My wife and I were afraid I'D have to live with this thing for the rest of OUR lives. Then we heard of Doc Schultzel. We heard about the robotic surgery he did. We had to try. When we met him, it was amazing. Finally !! someone was optimistic. He wouldn't make any guarantees but for our conversation it was clear this was gonna be our guy. The other doctors focused on how bad my situation was. DocSchultzel focused on the positive. We really believe the other Drs a little overwhelmed with what was left for them to workwith. Not Dr Shultzel. I probably don't need to say how amazing of a doctor he is., All you have to do is read his reviews ! What's just as important is his supporting cast starting with Emily! Emily, my wife and I will never be able to thank you enough.!! We love you, kiddo! These people are so on top of their game it is mind blowing! They are like a well oiled machine. On the soft spoken side and he will definitely listen to your health complaints and then make an assessment. The staff is very friendly as well and the paperwork went smoothly and I didn't have to wait too long even though there were a lot of people in the waiting room. The wait time was average for a new patient I would say. I talked with Reddy at length about my digestive problems and pain I was having. He gave me an examination and said he wanted me to have both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. Both would be performed on the same day which is good. After the exam we were taken into a room to watch a video on what to expect for the procedure. Then after that they had me sign some forms and told me they would call when they got the okay from the insurance referral. All went smoothly and I couldn't have been happier.

The anesthesiologist met with me explaining the medications he would b using to put me under for the procedure. Once in the surgery room. Dr Mayer explained the procedure and what might happen based on what he might find during the procedure. The anesthesiologist started the medication through my IV. Before he injected all the meds, I was out! 30 mins later I was awake and Dr Mayer explained how the procedure went. Within minutes after waking up I felt great w very little effects of the anesthesia and walked out and headed home. I highly recommend Dr Mayer and his staff!! I was in severe pain and repeatedly expressed that to Dr. Natasha Boydstun and Nurse Brenda. My pain was dismissed from the beginning. I was told to "just take Tylenol and ibuprofen" and that was the extent of their pain management plan. After receiving a tetanus shot (my first since 1998), I was told I would be sent home with basic bandaging supplies and Surgifoam for aftercare. They never gave it to me. Let me be clear: when someone is in severe pain and likely in shock, it is not their responsibility to remind medical staff to provide the supplies they themselves said they would give. That is basic follow-through and basic care. When my pain worsened, I called multiple times asking for help. Instead of addressing it, I was told I would need to go to the ER to be reevaluated for the same pain I had reported from the start. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no urgency. I have never felt so dismissed by a medical team in my life. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone seeking basic competent and compassionate care. Ironically, my pharmacist showed more compassion and concern than the medical team who treated me. She took the time to listen and speak to me kindly, something I never received at this urgent care. And honestly, after this experience, it's no surprise the ratings for this location are so low. I would NOT recommend being seen by either of those two medical so-called professionals to anyone in the community seeking urgent care.

Each call involved waiting on hold over 10 minutes listening to preprogrammed music. It's sad that the staff don't seem able to answer calls. The only option for callers is to leave a voice mail message and your call will be returned in 24 hours. I have an option through Scripps to talk with a scheduler and set an appointment which is preferable. As I recall the procedure went fairly well 10 years ago with the doctor and procedure staff doing a good job and exhibiting a good bedside manner. However, if you can't schedule an appointment it doesn't really matter how good the provider is.
