This was not the relaxing experience it is marketed as. It was actually quite frustrating. The one postive was the margarita was a good blend of flavors and strong. I needed it! Saving grace was my Premier Elite status gave me two free drinks. The service was non existent.. the waitress and the bartender looked out at me multiple times and did nothing to cover my table. 14 minutes before someone came to the table and that was only after I got up and asked if I order at the bar. Then 13 more minutes before I had a drink. 22 more minutes before I had my appetizer and 27 more minutes before she checked and gave me the bill. I let it play out cause I was not in a hurry and wanted to give her a chance to recover .. she did not. Btw .. there were only 3 other tables occupied at that time. Now as for the appetizer ... brisket burnt ends. They were quite good .. flavor of the sauce .. tender .. no fat. However, they were brisket cubes and not burnt ends. The cocktails come from a tap and are not made to order craft cocktails; I'm not sure if the alcohol was included in the mix from the tap as I only saw the person dispense from the tap and add a mint garnish. I shared I was surprised to see how it was served and his response was " I am not familiar with these drinks, I have never worked at this bar before., I'm usually at the indoor bar". My favorite item that I will return for is the non alcoholic egg nog that is made from scratch - it's the best egg nog I've ever had! This is a beautiful property and the outdoor bar/ restaurant also serves poolside. The team is great about checking in on everyone and the manager even came out and asked how everything was. We were in town for a conference and wanted a relaxing, but interesting lunch. The vibes here are absolutely incredible. Think a relaxing tropical poolside garden that reminded me of West Palm Beach. The food was a mix of Japanese and Latin inspired dishes. Also being in the heat of San Antonio, the outdoor area provided shade and fans to still enjoy being outside, but also being cooled off. Most of the dishes are small plate style and everything we ordered was great. The star of the show was the chicken skewers, which both me and my SO genuinely say was some of the best chicken we have ever eaten. It was so juicy and flavorful. We still talk about it even weeks later. Their seafood was also very high-quality. The cocktail menu also had Asian and Latin inspiration and had some very unique cocktails. The first class to Tokyo cocktail made with sake was so good I had to order another one. Would I come back? Absolutely! The vibe of the place is like paradise, ocean vibes meets Texas (if that makes sense). You automatically feel like you are in a little oasis in the middle of downtown San Antonio, which I think is pretty magical. They have a nice drink menu selection and the staff is always pretty nice. They do have a set menu, but the staff can pretty much prepare anything you'd like. The bar itself is pretty chill and not exactly like the "party" vibe. Visited Anaqua with a friend because it looked like a cute spot to hang out and catch up and so aesthetic right!? Well, we had some drinks and food and everything was fine until we see a HUGE rat run through! Of course we panicked!!! we are looking at each other in disbelief, we start looking around for our waitress waive her down and tell her what happened- she had no reaction and instead asks if we'd like to order anything else. No empathy, no reaction like I said. Im thinking why in the world would I want to anything from here now?! and ask for a manager. While we are waiting with our legs up on the sofa we see ANOTHER DISGUSTING FAT RAT and at this point my friend is almost standing on the couch, the rat goes into the kitchen building which is right next to this bar outside. They're located side by side. We are completely disgusted and I think at this point just regretting that we ever ate here. I felt nauseous! Alejandra, the manager on duty arrives and also has no reaction which leads me to believe this happens often, and only says unfortunately that's a problem here, we do use pest control but being outdoors there's not much we can do. Then hands us our invoice and walks off. I will never ever go back. If you decide to take a chance at being greeted by rats, you should probably avoid the food which could very well be contaminated. The evening was supposed to be chilly so as soon as I stepped out I felt the heaters on the ceiling and it was warm and thoughtful. We were confused as to why the prices were higher. We called over a server to help with our confusion. The waiter who came was named Jen, maybe Jenna, she was extremely rude and condescending. She continuously disregarded anything that we said, and asked what size cup was given. We tried to explain that we were not told there was a difference and how we ordered off of the $10 Sunday menu. She tried to belittle us for not knowing what was advertised, we told her that we understood that there was a difference in pricing but we asked and order from the $10 menu. She proceeded to say "well you drank from the big glass so I don't know, what size did you get." At this point we asked to just speak to a manager and she just walked away. From a far we saw her pointing and laughing at us with our server. We waited for 20+ minutes for manager but no one ever came. We decided to go to the host stand and look for a manager. Once we finally found a manager, the manager was very nice , helpful and considerate. She told us that she understood the confusion and that we should have been charged with what was advertised. Drinks arrived and after waiting over 30 minutes for food we were informed they were out of a few of the items we ordered. We added a few more items they claimed to have. We finally got two appetizers after an hour of waiting. Then we were informed again they were out of items we ordered. Another 45 minutes later I asked for the check because it was taking way too long and they finally brought out one of the two items we ordered informing us yet again they were out. The server was nice but never checked back in on us for drink refills or even water. When the chicken finally arrived it wasn't even warm to the touch. Wish I could say the food at least blew me away, but it didn't even come close. If you're out of half your menu it's good to let guests know this before ordering. This is a true hidden gem! Walked in here after having dinner next door and the immediate escape I felt from the vibe was awesome. Theres plants everywhere and nice dim lighting. The music is bumpin but not too loud where it is masking conversation. The service was also excellent. We ordered a couple of rounds of cocktails and tried the tuna avocado dip as well as the chicken skewers. Our first round of drinks were great! One was mezcal based and the other was frozen. The frozen was delicious and makes you wanna be on vacation sipping it by the pool. The tuna avocado dip was really delicious and a little spicy from the wasabi. I really enjoyed the wonton chips served with this. The chicken on the skewers had a nice marinade that made them super juicy and tender. This place is everything San Antonio has been begging for. We kind of accidentally found out about it and we are so glad we did. They just opened last month and you would never know it. I didn't fully understand the term 'mid' until going here. Walking in, the entry was beautiful with great landscaping. Thennnnn we made it through the greenery. It felt like when a realtor only takes pictures of the one renovated room in the house and calls it "cozy" instead of tiny and bland... The hotel's 2-star vibe pool was a real eye sore. It's true what they say; things are not as they seem on Instagram. It did NOT feel like an oasis as it would appear online. Very average atmosphere. To top it off, the bartender was dull and rude. He barely acknowledged us despite my friend and me being LITERALLY 2 of the 4 people in the ENTIRE outdoor area. I have worked in restaurants for years, so I understand that sitting at the bar doesn't always guarantee the best service if the bartender is busy. But he wasn't. At all. Drinks were overly sweet. Mine came with a little vile of something? It would've been cool for the bartender to maybe say what tf it was instead of us guessing.
