We visited on a Friday 7/31/2026 evening, arriving around 6:45pm.  Our party started with six guests and eventually grew to 13 by the end of the night.  The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived, and the atmosphere was pleasant.  One positive experience was that the staff accommodated our request for an item that had been removed from the menu.  The manager went out of his way to have it prepared for us, and we truly appreciated that level of customer service.  The food it self was very good. Unfortunately, the service throughout the evening was disappointing.  I don't blame our waitress personally; it was obvious she was responsible for far too many tables.  As a result, we waited an extremely long time for drink refills, whether it was for beer, cocktails, water, or soda. When we requested buckets of beer, they often arrived after a 15 minute wait, and the beers were warm by the time we received them.   The delays became so frustrating that six people in our group left early.  We frequently had to ask the manager for basic items such as condiments, water, and utensils becuase our waitress simply couldn't keep up. Our final bill was $329.08, so we spent a significant amount of money at the restaurnt and expected a much better overall dining experience. To make matters worse, parking created another issue.  The first two hours were supposed to be free by entering the validation code from our receipt.  The code reduced the parking fee to $13, but my credit card was still charged the original amount instead of the discounted rate.  Overall, the food and the manager's willingness to help were the highlights of our visit.  However, the lack of adequate staffing, extremely slow service, and parking issue overshadowed the positives.  Saldly, becuase of this experience, we will most likely not be returning. read more

We stopped in for lunch after dropping in at the Pearl. Finding it was a bit difficult but if you park in the lot behind Pullman and take the bridge across the river, it is to your Left. You'll have to go to Newall street to find the entrance. There is no parking specifically for the restaurant. Now, the place is a bit small but the servers are nice and you can eat inside, outside or at the bar. They have a relatively small kitchen so the menu reflects that. We had the pretzel (4 short pretzel sticks), nachos, the smash burger and a grilled cheese sandwich for our Grand Daughter. Service was quick initially but they weren't great on refilling drinks. Food was all good and a reasonable value for the venue. I'd get the burger and nachos again. They are kid friendly during the day (it might be a different crowd at night), it is clean and not too noisy. Hopefully, people will find it and enjoy their food. Otto's Ice House is a wonderful addition to the Pearl Brewery complex. It's a bit off the beaten path, just beyond the Pullman Market. The building is beautifully redone, maintaining the historic aesthetics of the original area. The bar area is beautiful with plenty of additional casual dining seating and they also have a spacious outdoor beer garden area. For my first visit, we stopped in after shopping just for a snack of appetizers and drinks. The queso and chips and fries that we ordered were flavorful, and the portions were very generous. Although their menu isn't very extensive, the sandwiches looked huge and very tasty. They offer beer on top, but we opted for mixed drinks that were great. The service was wonderful and I look forward to going back with an appetite to try more of their menu options. read more

Definitely worth checking out! Parking can be a little tricky since Otto's doesn't have its own lot, but honestly, the food is so good that paying for nearby parking felt completely worth it. When we first sat down, service was a bit slow, but after a little prompting, our server turned out to be fantastic and gave us some great recommendations. I wish I had caught his name because he really made our experience better. The ambiance is awesome, it feels like a cozy Texas dive bar, but in the best way possible. It's laid-back, comfortable, and a refreshing change of pace from the usual Pearl or Riverwalk restaurants. They have a full bar and both indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was a hot Texas summer day, we opted to sit inside, but there were plenty of people (and their pets) enjoying the patio. For two of us, our meal came out to $96, which included an appetizer, two entrées, dessert, and waters. I felt it was fair for the quality and portions. We tried Otto's one Saturday for lunch with our visiting soccer team. Our waiter was calm and accommodating with our large group. There were menu selections for everyone and even the kids were happy. It was too hot to play outside but the inside was chill. I had the flautas and my son had the smashburger. Both were very good. My only complaint would be that it didn't seem right to pay full price for a small cheeseburger with ketchup that wasn't the full smash burger on menu. But I get why they didn't feel the need to knock off a couple of dollars. read more

The weather was absolutely stunning, which also didn't hurt on any accounts! We got the bean and cheese nachos which were perfect. So nice! Located right next to the Pearl (it is walkable and has a nice view of the pearl). Their indoor and patio seating were both awesome and nice interior. The food and service were great, on a Tuesday night! Not sure how busy they get. A variety of food on their menu but the carne asada tacos were amazing and so was the Carne Asada dish which was likely enough for two people. The pretzel on the appetizer menu was delicious as well. Their story on the name Otto was posted on their website. We are new to San Antonio so it was fun to learn a bit of history of the Pearl Brewery. I went on their second day of officially opening. We had our dogs, so we sat outside. The outside patio is pretty nice. It has plenty of seating. They will need to eventually invest in some shade. About 75-80% of the tables and seating areas are exposed to the sun.By the bar you can sit without talking to the hostess, but for any of the picnic tables you do have to talk to the hostess as this will be a waiter service table. We were not hungry so we shared some chips and salsa and I got the frozen margarita. My friend got the frozen honeysuckle Froze. The frozen margarita was a bit sweet, but pretty strong. The froze had a pretty strong grapefruit flavor. If you don't like grapefruit, this is not the drink for you. The. Chips and also were good. The roasted salsa was a little bit salty, but definitely went well with our drinks. The green salsa is mild. Our waitress was amazing. She brought out water for our dogs and constantly checked on us. My friend left her dog water bowl behind and she called me to let me know. We were able to return to retrieve it before leaving The icehouse is located next to Pullman market across the river. You can either walk Along the street or there is a bridge connecting the Pearl with the area. They have an outside and an inside hostess table. On a side note, they currently do not have happy hour. After months of watching their progress in building this place out on the river walk, they finally opened and I was not disappointed! Crowd was pretty heavy considering it was their grand opening, but I imagine this will die down a bit in the future. They used an OpenTable waitlist after we checked in, which makes me hopeful they'll offer reservations through that app in the future. Started with the queso as an appetizer and it was great, perfect chip to cheese ration. For the entree ordered the Pollo Asado and the Carne Asada, both of which were delicious! To top it off, we had the pecan pie for dessert, and it delivered. Downsides, no sweet tea, only tea and sugar packets if you're up for it. Opted for lemonade instead, and it was unexpectedly carbonated, probably great if you like seltzer and lemonade but I wasn't a huge fan personally. read more

Stopped by on opening day and was so happy to see how busy the ice house was. Luckily, we had a reservation and did not have to wait. Highly recommend doing so. Parking can be a pain but there are free spots around the neighborhood, just pack your patience and take a nice stroll. The staff was very well trained to handle big crowds and we were surprised at how fast food came out considering how bustling it was. My husband ordered the bratwurst with fries. He definitely cleared his plate. My brother got the smash burger and fries. Burger was solid, fries good. Basic but tasty. Finally, I got the torta de asada with a side salad and their house vinegrette. The vinegrette was DELICIOUS (sorry I love salads). I wish the salad had other leafy green types than just basic lettuce. The torta came out but wasn't hot. Perhaps it sat before being picked up by our server. I definitely enjoyed the flavors but there wasn't enough meat. The bread is thick for it to just have a thin slice of skirt steak. Prices aren't so bad considering it's the pearl. The decor is more of a modern-rustic aesthetic, it was a bit cold inside. The food is delicious. Im not sure what seasoning was used on the fries and pickle but it was so good! We arrived around 11:40, they open at 11, we were the only ones here. Roxie served us and we had amazing service. The prices are on the higher side but for this being in the pearl location, it is expected. The smash burger is priced at $17. The construction in the area was very loud and messy. I met up with some friends here on a Saturday, right as they opened. It filled up fast, but we got a table inside. They have lots of seating indoors and outdoors. They do have those misting fans for the outdoor area to help you stay cool. They are kid friendly and they are able to cater to large groups, which is great for those situations. With that said, we did have both of these taking place while we were there, so it was LOUD. We did feel as if we had to yell at each other, when sitting across from each other at the table, so if you are looking for a more calm environment, 11am-2pm on a Saturday is not the time to stop by. We ordered the chicken nachos to share and we each had a margarita to drink. The nachos were good, very cheesy and crisp with a scoop of guacamole on each. For someone who loves guacamole, this was a special treat. The margarita was nothing special. I was expecting a little more flavor and quality. The service was quite slow and we found ourselves waiting for prolonged periods of time for water refills and drinks, but they were busy, so I give them grace for that. Overall, I would say that this is the sort of establishment of which you come for the vibes and to catch up with friends. You don't necessarily come for the food or drinks, but you know you can order decent food/drinks if you want. I do find the prices for the food to be on the high side, which led us to skip ordering actual lunch, but the food coming out around us did look good....just not $17 for a hamburger or $34 for a carna asada plate good. read more

Food was good, not great. We had the pretzel and smash burgers. Food was hot and delivered within a timely manner. The deal breaker was the worst service I've ever had. There were 3 tables seated in the whole restaurant with lots of staff around. Our server was talking to another server the ENTIRE time and I had to get up to get my own napkins and wave to get refills at least 3 times. I was lucky enough to get an invite to the soft opening of Otto's Ice house and had a great time. As you walk in you have an inside dining area and bar, but we chose to sit outside because the weather was so nice. In the outdoor patio they have multiple tables and an outside bar. There are plenty of fan with misters for those upcoming dog days of summer and had a one-man band providing live music. They have an extensive menu of food/drink options but for this night they had a limited menu as the kitchen was still getting broken in. For appetizers, we ordered the cantina queso and chicken nachos. The queso was solid and tasty as were the chips. The chicken nachos comes as an order of six that are stacked with beans, chicken, guacamole and a jalapeno. They were well prepared and full of flavor. For our main course, we ordered the Carne asada plate and the smash burger with fries. The smash burger is a served with sesame seed buns, cheese and a secret sauce that really elevates the flavor profile. It was a really good burger and the fries were just as good....nicely friend to a crisp, golden brown. The carne asada plate came with flour tortillas, pinto beans, and chopped onions, cilantro, and radishes. The meat was very well seasoned, cooked to a perfect medium and cut easily with a knife. I was able to make four "street" style tacos as the serving was large. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, service and ambience of the latest addition to the Pearl area and look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. I would recommend making a reservation as I can see this place being packed once it fully opens. p.s.
