-I am giving only 1 star cuz the food was terrible. I don't know if that was the case particularly that day cuz it was my 1st time going there. My sisters and I were really hungry but could barely eat anything. Only thing that was good was the mango lassi. The waiter seemed dead the whole time. I was so Frustrated I couldn't wait to leave. The bill came about $45 for 3 people. It was bit surprising comparing to the portion of the food. +Since the restaurant was empty, one of the chef came to check up on was. He was really nice.

The Aloo Saag is slimy, overcooked, and rife with burnt garlic.

I really wanted to like this place, I miss good Indian food. I went in once with friends and the food was ok, but then I got delivery and it was inedible. Worse than the food, was how little they cared. Aloo papri - this is a chick pea and potato dish with crispy bread, tamarind and yogurt sauce...only they don't tell you in the seamless menu that there's crispy bread, so all of a sudden I chomped into petrified mystery food. Unfortunately they overcooked the crispy bread and I chipped a tooth. I called to let them know, but they treated me like a silly woman and talked over me. "what's the name of the dish" he asked. "it's the chickpea and potato dish" I said. "we don't have anything like that" he said. "well I'm looking at it, it's chickpeas and potatoes and some sauces drizzled on the top." I said "if you don't know the name of the dish, then how can you know anything" he said...I got pissed and as soon as I started yelling at him he says "oh that's the chickpea and potato dish with crispy bread." Thanks, bro. I just said that. So he cuts me off again and says "so what do you want from me?" I said I wanted a refund. he said that I had only told him about one of the dishes, I said that he cut me off before I could talk about the other dishes. "I am happy to talk to you about them." I said but He says he's too busy working to listen to me. Aloo saag- it tastes like maybe they burnt the garlic. But to the point where it overpowered the dish and I love garlic but this was comical. I will say, the spinach was green and to have color in your saag is a good sign! Still, it was slimy and not delicious. Vegetable korma - like others have said in their reviews it's a tragically under-spiced korma. And I'm white, so for me to think something is under-spiced is saying something. Lamb Rogan Jose - actually I've heard this dish called Rogan Josh, either way, it was delightful. When I called to ask for a refund I asked that they refund me all the dishes except the lamb. They laughed at me. I'm a business owner in this neighborhood so it sucks when you take the time to put effort into community, give feedback instead of writing a shitty review on yelp (you know, give the business a chance to make it right) and they treat you with the bloated aloofness only middle aged men can provide. I offered to pack everything up and send it back. I offered to give them feedback, I even offered them an out by saying maybe they had a new person cooking tonight, but they said they've been there for 80 years cooking the same dishes. Then accuse me of not knowing anything about Indian food. Meanwhile I lived with an Indian chef and I worked on Indian row in the East Village for 10 years....

I had been bicycling in the area and was scoping this place out and saw the 50% off during lunch sign. Thankfully, I was able to leave work early a few days later and called up to confirm the lunch special, running until 2/2:30PM. True to the advert, everything {excluding my mango lassi, to my chagrin} was half off! While the mango lassi wasn't creamy enough for my liking, the samosa was your usual bundle of fried tastiness, and the entrees reminded me of my time abroad in the Middle-East when I'd eat Indian every other day. I got the lamb biriyani and the chicken malakhani {butter chicken} and both had the range!!! They tasted authentic and were spiced JUST right - though I was a bit disappointed the biriyani didn't have raisins in it. Service was great as well, and while this isn't the biggest place, for the 50% lunch special, you won't break the bank!

I can't believe this little Indian place that is actually 'nearish' to where I live delivers all the way to Prospect Heights. That is pretty remarkable. This guy took his bike clearly across the entire park for us. Second, I'm testing my heat tolerance for the Bricklane Phaal challenge. It's inevitable it has to happen. I'm fully confident that I can achieve the 'getting your name on a certificate and free beer' hottest curry in New York challenge. But mostly I "have" to do it because my ex threw up the 2 times he attempted and didn't even half finish. My friend and I split an order of the chicken vindaloo. The special also came with an appetizer, basmati rice, and naan. The vindaloo was adequate spicy. Some places piss around with their heat level but this honestly was just the right amount without having to wash it down with copious amounts of wine or *cough* water. It had a kick to it. It also has interesting things in it like chunks of tomato and potato that I was not fully expecting. The naan was delicious as were the samosas. The weirdest thing we ordered by far was the crab cake with spicy mango. It kind of looks like a piece of naan bread with pulled crab meat piled on top. I'm not sure what to say about it or how to feel but it is not a crab cake and not the best. Stick to the regulars. I approve of this place though and the prices were pretty affordable.

Plain Naan, warm and tastes pretty good.

We ordered food at 8:15pm and saw it was not here by 9:15pm which was promised 9:05 latest. We called the restaurant and the man said they are busy please give them 30 more minutes. At 10pm I tried to contact the grubhub agent and found out the restaurant wants to cancel they are busy. So the restaurant could not tell us to cancel at 8:15 or 9:15 when we still had time to order from another restaurant? Now at 10pm everything is closed and we are starved.

Unbelievable! Not only did they forget one thing I ordered, they also gave me undercooked chicken! Do they not know what can happen when you eat undercooked chicken?! I'm a breastfeeding mom, that can end up sooooo bad! I swear if something happens, I am suing this place! Did not receive what was on the pictures. Wasted my money for crap!

Spoiler, we never made it to any of the other locations because we were so full. Jalsa provide fare from all over India and makes paneer in house. They have plenty of seating and can take care of large catering parties. As is customary, they have a Sunday lunch buffet. We came on a rainy Saturday afternoons and there weren't many patrons dining. We went with the masala chai, mango lassi, lamb kati roll, and a ghee masala dosa with gun powder, upon recommendation. -The masala chai was perfectly blended, with sugar on the side to sweeten to one's liking. -The mango lassi was really good, but a bit thicker than I'd like; good tartness. -Lamb kati roll was really good, larger than expected. The flavours were well balanced and the paratha had a good flake to it. There was A LOT of lamb inside. -The ghee masala dosa was the shining star; it must have been 2.5, if not 3 feet long. The edges were super crispy like a chip, and the masala potato pilling was delicious If I could do it all over again, I'd only eat here and not eat ahead of time, since this was enough food to fill a party of two (maybe add in a samosa or two). I'll definitely be coming back to try more fare.

In short, we ordered chicken tikka masala and garlic naan through Uber Eats but then received the entirely wrong order an hour later. We got the got the issue corrected with Uber Eats, and I called the restaurant to ask that they remake our order for which we would pick it up and pay for it in person. The main woman who was assisting asked me where the incorrect order was as she claimed it is a requirement that we bring the wrong order back to the restaurant to be issued a full refund (?). I said I was not made aware that we had to do this, and furthermore, I know that based on hygienic food practices, they should be trashing any food that goes to the wrong customers... especially since the food has now changed hands multiple times with a delivery driver and being in our home... She insisted that this was not true and that the food could be used to feed their employees, which may be the case, but again, this was not clear and I am skeptical of any restaurant who accepts back food that has been out of their sight for nearly 2 hours at that point. She and the other woman continued arguing with me on this - at one point insisting they will send their delivery driver back with me to pick up the food?! Absolutely not. I was feeling incredibly harassed at this point - and honestly between being hungry and pregnant, I communicated this and that this situation was stressful, but they were continuing to argue with me. The second woman started to dismiss me, even. I asked my husband to come in and take care of the bill because I had to remove myself from that situation, and I could see him through the window continuing to be berated by the main woman for her assumption that we would be trashing the food that was incorrectly delivered. (I never stated this, I did state that I am aware that restaurants have to throw this food out.) He confirmed that she was being just as argumentative with him. This is such a shame because Indian Spice was such a wonderful part of our experience when we last lived in Brooklyn, and based on this, I would never order from here again.

Lots of smiles and very welcoming. Now for the food: we ordered Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Saag (two of my favorite Indian dishes). We also ordered, Samosas, Tandoori Mixed Grill and an assorted Naan platter. Mango Lassi as well. The entrees were good; I've had much better. I know Indian cuisine varies from region to region, household to household, so there'll always be variations in traditional dishes from restaurant to restaurant. Lots of favorable reviews on Yelp for this establishment, so it comes down to personal taste, and this didn't quite ring the bell for me. The Tandoori mixed grill was, well...I'm pretty sure leftover from the day before and reheated--at least portions of it (the chicken, for sure). There was Salmon included (not typical in a mixed grill). Samosas arrived still cold inside, which tells me they were either frozen or made a day or two in advance, or worse yet, not made on the premises and bought from a restaurant supply. Whichever, they were passable at best. The Naan was good, for the most part. The onion Naan was disappointing (onions were minced and only sweated, which made the bread too sweet. The onions should be caramelized). Overall, although the food left a lot to be desired, I enjoyed the dining experience. It's a comfortable place and the staff are very nice. But, that said, it always comes down to the main event--the food.
