We just completed our second move with ANC. Peter and his team set the bar for service and quality in our first move and the second move was even better! The difference here is the quality of the staff. Seth, Josh, and Oliver participated in various parts of the move including estimates, packing, loading, transport, and unloading. They were very easy to work with throughout. The estimate was very clear which was important to me because previous moving companies would bait with the estimate and then jack up the charges when the truck arrived. Instead it was very clear how much each part of the move would cost. Not a single thing was broken, and every step of the move happened exactly when they promised. Communication with the moving staff as well as the friendly office staff were excellent, which is a critical part of any successful move. Seth and Josh clearly have a lot of experience with moving and that made the difference with our move. I hired ANC to move a piano - a precious item! I was so nervous, I had to look away when they were loading it onto the cart. It was a hard piece to let go of, but it needed a new home. The three movers were kind, very careful, and very respectful of the item and my experience of it. I have hired movers for the same set of things 4 times this year and these guys were by far the slowest and inefficient. For example, one of the guys moved like he was going for a stroll the entire time. Another is they did not have a hex key needed to take my desk apart. Instead of asking me if I had one, they just went ahead and tried with the tools they had until I asked because I had a feeling they were stuck. I try not to hover over people doing their job because I trust I hired professionals. I found I should've asked sooner because by that time, they were already 3/4 done and the time was gone. Some other things didn't make sense such as stacking 2 uhaul large boxes on top of a medium one. The medium boxes were of course crushed a bit on one side. They were also not great at packing the storage unit I moved into. Things were placed inefficiently, which I fixed. Not a huge deal, but I've seen some experienced movers with amazing tetris skills. This is important when you have limited space. Overall, it was fine. They were very polite and cautious with moving the furniture, covering the doorways with moving blankets, and placing a runner on the stairs. I think this crew just lacked experience. They took about 4 hours to do a 3.5 hour job. I have seen a different crew from this same company work much faster for a friend's move from the same house I moved out of, so your experience could be different. I would suggest requesting the crew named on good reviews. read more

BUYERS BEWARE. I was taken advantage of as a client. I would NOT recommend this moving company to anyone. Issue #1: Suspicious & Inaccurate bid My original estimate was between $325.20 and $650.40 and 2-4 hours to move a one-bedroom apartment. The actual move took 8 hours and totaled to the amount of $1,300. Issue #2: Hidden Fees and Fraud It took the ANC Movers 37 min to drive 7.3 miles from the office to my apartment when on any given day it should have taken only 10-12 minutes. The timer begins when they leave their office so I feel extra time was taken so they could charge me more. There were also various hidden fees that were not disclosed upfront, including a long carry-free and an elevator fee. There is a section on the contract for time off, but NO time was documented for breaks. I had multiple eye witnesses let me know that there were prolonged breaks taken during the move. Issue #3: Lack of Communication and Horrible Customer Service It was very difficult to get a hold of someone I could talk to share my experience of the service they provided. After finally getting a hold of the manager, Peter had agreed that $700 would settle the cost of the move. To then send me to collections for the remaining payments without notice seems like fraud to me. A written agreement to this price should have been provided after the agreement had been made. I had left multiple, MULTIPLE messages for the manager to call me back to discuss the situation and yet no one had called me back. Finally, I went in person to the office and was met with hostility. They saw that I was having severe anxiety about leaving my home of 22 years and the stress of trying to manage both moves. These guys stepped it up for me, working with me to lessen my anxiety. The three young men that were assigned to my move were very punctual, efficient, professional, so kind, and most of all reduced my moving day anxiety down to almost nothing. Then charged me 15 minutes to WALK TO THEIR TRUCK, then charged "up" another 15 minutes because we ended on the 1/2 hour for a total of $230 overcharging. Smh. Wouldn't recommend for this reason. Nice workers and Lisa in office was nice. Laura in office hung up on us when we called to inquire why movers were late while holding the loading dock parking and elevator reservation. If I could, I'd give less than one star. We really (REALLY!) wanted to like ANC Movers for a variety of reasons, including that they claim to be Washington's only Black/minority owned moving company. It all started out well. They were responsive, provided a quote quickly, were accommodating. At first, we were pleased. Then came packing and moving days (early July 2021). We had already packed the vast majority of our home - the packers even commented on what an easy job they had. We physically moved the day the packers came, so we were only there the first few hours. All seemed well, and they assured me everything would be packed and ready to go for the move, which was happening a few days later. They also assured me that my plants would be placed on the back of the truck, and that our BBQs, lawnmower, weedwhacker, etc would also come (these things were listed on the estimate, but I asked again, just to be sure). As I left the house, I reminded them that the bathrooms needed to be packed - again they assured me they would get everything in the house. The day of the actual move we had our neighbor check in on things for us. This is when it all went very sideways and downhill. Not only had the packers NOT PACKED everything, the movers were simply leaving A LOT of our stuff behind and in the house (which was closing the next day!). The bathrooms had not been packed AT ALL, cabinets were still full of stuff (pots/pans, platters, etc). Regardless, the movers were in the moving truck pulling out of our driveway - our neighbor had to flag them down and request they take all the 'stuff' - they refused b/c it wasn't packed. So our neighbor had to pack what she could quickly into trash bags. The most shocking thing in all of this - Peter (the owner!) was there!! When I frantically emailed and called Peter about all the things being left behind, his response was that they couldn't take any of it, and well, he was sorry for the miscommunication. I highlighted that all these items WERE LISTED on our estimate - no response. We had to have our neighbor and a friend get the stuff that was left behind - it was two pickup truck beds full of stuff!! We are still (a month later) trying to coordinate getting the rest of our stuff, some of which is very special family dinnerware. When the moving truck arrived at our new home, it looked as if our stuff had literally been thrown haphazardly into the truck. So much stuff was damaged - art and wall hangings were not wrapped and many were damaged. A leather chair was scratched and severely damaged. The list goes on. The end of this epic story gets worse - I contacted Peter and requested that he reduce the fee for packing, since clearly it was a sloppy at best, and negligent at worst, job. He refused and instead attempted to push blame on us - I made it clear to him that we were going to contest the charge. Then I received an email from the company that payment had been received - THEY BILLED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY APPROVAL. I was shocked. (Is this even legal?? Why did they still have my credit card information on file?!?) I have never, ever had such a horrible experience with a company. I cannot stress enough - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want to deal with a horrible packing job, A LOT of your stuff being left behind, and an owner who just doesn't seem to care. read more

We anticipated not being able to find a moving company who would want to take on the smaller job of moving us into our home. Enter ANC. From the moment I spoke with Melissa in the front office, I could tell that this was a customer-oriented company. They definitely have a 'no problem' attitude and nothing was too big (or small) to handle. We had a few very heavy pieces that were also bulky and unruly. Brian and Shane moved these items into our home as if they were made of "Styrofoam." We couldn't believe how quickly they got our furniture into our home and placed it perfectly. They miss quoted me and added extra items to my moving list which caused them to have three guys on my move instead of the two I was quoted which made my original estimate go up $250. I have used this company three times in the past year and will do so again. They are highly competent, organized, efficient, and meticulous. They disassembled an old organ to get it through a doorway and put it back together, maneuvered a piano through difficult spaces, and managed to safely move antique furniture up and down narrow stairways. Plus they seem to only hire fun people with a sense of humor, something that helps reduce the stress of moving. I've worked with JJ and Chris twice now, and they earn top marks. HORRIBLE!!! Please look elsewhere. I could go on and on about every detail about this company and the unprofessionalism that I experienced with them. However, I want to highlight that from the very beginning when I called to make my reservation I was given false information including pricing. The movers were absolutely horrible, scraped my couches all across the ceiling and left white paint marks all over it. Damaged a shelf that they refused to acknowledge was their fault. They took over an hour to get from my old house to the new house and it's only a 30 minute drive. I questioned the pricing at the end of the move and one of the movers I think his name was Chris, threw his phone down on one of my boxes and started cussing at me telling me he's never heard of that pricing before, I told him who I spoke with to make my reservation he continued with an aggressive attitude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I called to complain to the manager about this and she said she would look into it, she never called me back and everytime I call they either don't pick up or they tell me she's not there and will have to call back. I used ANC after looking at the reviews and boy was that a mistake. I had them load a U-Haul truck for me and when I got the truck to my destination in Florida I found out how bad of a job they had done. All my nearly new furniture was damaged from the lack of blankets they used. On top of all of that my sons Desk Top computer tower was missing. It was a very expensive gaming computer and was a huge disappointment for my son as it isnt easy to replace a $2,000 computer. I called Jennifer and Peter after I noticed all the problems and also sent pictures of the damage, This is when you better hope you dont have a problem with them as no call backs or follow ups. When I finally got a hold of them it was just them back peddling. I asked for the insurance carrier info and they wouldnt even provide that, I just dont want anyone else to go thru what I did with them. If you are going to use them please get the insurance info first as you wont get it later. I would run the other way and never use this company to move anything of value. I still to this day have not gotten the insurance info from them so I could get my damaged furniture fixed and the computer replaced. I will say that I will pursue every avenue I can on getting the word out about this company so some other unlucky person doesnt make the same mistake. read more
