They insured that breakables were protected-- I felt they were very knowledgeable with this area (lots of glass pieces). Can't say enough good things. I live slightly rural so find in a mover wasn't the easiest. It was a small move really just the minimum amount of time. The communication from the office was amazing, the workers called one hour before like I requested, showed up on time. Worked efficiently and cared greatly for my stuff. I probably should have mentioned that others probably didn't want to move my stuff because nothing was light. I had 3 large tool boxes, a large safe, and 2 freezers full of stuff. Nothing was easy. Honestly I feel entirely cheated by this company. Let me preface this by saying I am not a person that writes reviews. I don't feel the need to harm a reputation as the world is tough enough as it is, so I will only ever leave a review if I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with a individual or company. Unfortunately here I am writing a negative review. Apart from the initial scheduling, I had a terrible time using Pack My Truck. They came recommended by friends and family and let me say I was very disappointed. Not only would I say this is most unprofessional experience I've had with a moving company, I'd say it's the most unprofessional experience I've had with ANY business in my life. -Originally I was quoted for a 1pm-3pm move with 2 movers. Pack My Truck called around 9am saying that they'd be at my apartment in ~45 minutes. I was anticipating a later move so I was not ready. I called the dispatch and they offered me a later moving time a little after 3pm. -I received little to no updates from dispatch on the status of my movers for the next 4 hours unless I prompted the response by reaching out. This means I was unable to leave my apartment to run errands at the risk of missing the movers arrival and having to rush home to let them in the unit. -The dispatcher offered to send another mover in addition to cut the overall cost of the move and speed things up. I gratefully agreed. That third mover somehow got injured on another job or on the way or something and could not show. I was not saved any money at all by this ultimately. -One of the movers took several personal phone calls while "packing" up my stuff. Can't help but wonder if things would've gone faster or more carefully had this person focused on what I'm paying for. This person also wrapped my tv in a blanket with duct tape leaving a side exposed after I mentioned that previous moving companies had wrapped it in plastic wrap and that's been very successful at keeping it safe. This move ended at 10pm for a 1BR apartment to a one floor house. I was imagining more like 5 or 6pm. Once again, would've been nice to know ahead of time. Please beware that your possessions could/likely will be damaged during the move and you may be reimbursed a petty amount if you file a claim with them unless you **PLEASE PURCHASE ADDITIONAL INSURANCE AND FULL LIABILITY WHEN USING THIS COMPANY** During the move they cracked my flatscreen tv in multiple places and now it is completely unusable. This was the most expensive item in the entire move. The process they want you to follow is to file a claim as soon as possible. I waited a week plus while they 'investigated' if it the damage is indeed their fault. Once again, I had to request updates on the claim because they wouldn't give them to me. I have included the pictures of damage that I sent them below. (They ultimately credited me 25$ for this tv) When I expressed my frustration and my request for compensation/credit, they did not make it right. Regardless of contract they clearly do not want to go above and beyond for the people that put their trust in them to make an already stressful situation any easier. We had our floors replaced and needed to move out to our garage and back in two days later. Christian and crew did a great job for us. We made our reservations to move 6 weeks prior and 4 days before the job the floor installers need to delay the job 2 days so Maria was able to get movers to do this at the last minute. When our new floors were installed you could not step on the thresholds so the movers carried everything in and set it down and that includes a full size refrigerator and gas range, no hand trucks so there would be not possible way the floor could be damaged. I didn't actually hire these guys, but I had an A+++ experience with one of their guys. I was trying to heave a 70 pound box from West Elm into a U-Haul van with only my own two noodle arms (I'm a waifish fella). A dude from Pack My Truck (whose name I unfortunately did not catch) saw me driving the struggle bus, hopped out of his truck, walked over, and offered to help me load the box. I gratefully accepted and then was blown away when, instead of grabbing the other side of the box with me, he He-Manned the whole thing onto his shoulder and loaded it solo with ease. I thanked him profusely and he hopped back into his truck. When he saw me come out twice more with two more 70-pound boxes, he hopped out twice more and did the same thing. I owe this guy a beer, at least; if he hadn't been there to help... who knows? I may still be struggling to load boxes in the Pearl to this day. This was my first ever time hiring movers and man, what a great experience! Maria was incredibly responsive via email during the scheduling process which made the lead up to moving easy. Then came my heroes: Eddie and Tony. Eddie and Tony were quick, professional, and just great people all around. They managed to fit all my stuff into a single truckload, with no damages. Eddie also gave me some advice to help with future moves which was very appreciated as a newbie. My advice: 1. hire them! 2. Be careful in estimating how much stuff you have. Because it's likely more than you think and opting to hire an additional person on the team could make all the difference (as I learned). I was blown away by these guys. They were so fast and efficient. My fiancé and I had been unloading for 3 days. They did more in an hour than we did in three days of moving. Honestly, we couldn't have done in a week when they did in an hour. We were moving a lot of furniture up to the second floor, and they moved it up super fast. They moved more than 50 heavy items/boxes/pieces of furniture upstairs in less than an hour. They were careful with all of our items. Nothing was damaged. We moved from NYC all the way to Portland, OR. We had all the arrangements planned out except for help unloading our things from a 22' Penske truck. I reached out to a couple of movers in PDX 3 days before we needed help and Maria responded immediately. Because it was so last minute, she was almost fully booked but made some arrangements to work around our schedule. We were moving into a condo complex and they had strict rules around the hours that we could move. Our flight arrived early and we arrived sooner than expected and Maria was so flexible in having her team show up early to meet us. They were so professional and took care of our things like they were theirs. They assembled furniture for us, moved things to where we wanted them, and also did a walk through to make sure we were happy with everything being where they were. They were super fast and friendly as could be. I only wish our movers on the outbound side were as good as Pack My Truck. I should mention that their prices are fantastic as well. When I called to reserve the date/time with Maria, I was told three men would be moving my house. My house was barely 1000 square feet and there was minimal items to move. My husband and I had moved 75-80% of items from our house in small vehicles (my husband and I moved our treadmill together one of the heaviest items). We merely needed this moving company to move our furniture, beds, a few boxes, dressers, and a plant over 6 feet. Maria stated based off the information shared, again three people would help with the move at a rate of $199 with a 17 foot truck minimum 2hrs. I'm not familiar with truck sizes but I agreed. However the truck was too small - most companies will send a larger truck to be in the safe side but this company definitely didn't think like that. When the movers showed up, they were in time but only two men were present. They said the rate would be cheaper but no one could tell me a rate. I made the mistake by leaving my house and allowing my husband to help coordinate the packing. Also, I chose this moving company due to the reviews but I'm not sure this company lives up to the reviews. The truck was too small for the minimal items at our house. To pack the items in the truck took over an hour and half with three men (that includes my husband). It shouldn't of taken that long when beds were disabled. The movers decided to turn dressers upside down - my husband asked that our dressers not get put in upside down. My plant that is over 6ft tall was placed in the middle of couches and dressers smooshed; why wouldn't that be the last item loaded? The protection on dressers, beds, etc was minimal. Minimal enough that we have chips in furniture. Our couches legs needed to come off prior to moving them out of the house - they were not moved and the door was dented. Upon getting to our new house these movers were slugs! They moved so slow. I hired a different company three years ago when I had a larger place and these movers were big (overweight) but moved extremely fast! These two men were extremely uncoordinated and I went into the truck to start unloading. By the time the items got unpacked we had mover for over three hours ... mind you they did not put any items back together. My husband and I did. The move should of only taken two hours. I called Maria to inform her of the dent in the door and asked what is the rate for two men. Maria never returned my call. Between myself and my husband one of the movers text us about the door. The door was filled in with some substance and told it was good to go. The substance was a completely different color than the door. My husband reached out and asked him to paint the door. In return, the mover sent a bunch of Oregon laws for renters. Stating the door is fine but sure they'll paint it. I went to the old rental yesterday and it looks like a four year old painted. The mover painted in multiple directions and the door looks terrible. Generally when someone paints it's in one direction but again it was sideways, up and down, etc. I would not recommend this company due to the lack of communication and how they treat customers items. Unpacking a house is hard enough but now I have clothing from dressers stuck behind the dressers, drawers that will not close, etc due to tipping the dresser sideways. I have touch ups on almost all our furniture that needs to be done due to chips on the wood. Our couch has a huge line down the back that will not come out due to the furniture being microfiber. I understand things happen in moves but I'm not sure this company is able to handle small moves. read more
