The reviews are accurate. Our first time started on a high note and went downhill from there. They kept forgetting to bring my drink after ordering and service took a long time overall. But The food was OK. The highlight of my meal were the chips. For beverages, there are no refills and the price for the iced tea was more expensive than the beer (they don't carry Summer Shandy BTW). Something we haven't really seen before. Even if it is advertised on the menu, they could mention it as a reminder when offering a second beverage . It was ultimately shocking that, ultimately, our server didn't really think of coming back with the change after paying with a bigger bill (and we still gave a good tip). read more

I appreciate him making the situation right!!** My family has had a cabin on Lake WI for the last 23 years. We have been going to Lakeside since we have had our cabin. Lakeside has immensely gone downhill. DO NOT GAMBLE HERE!! Last night my sister pulled a $25 pull tab and they tried to say that it was already pulled for the day. How would a pull tab that she had just ripped open have already been pulled for the day???! I don't believe it for a second. I have pictures of my pull tab that was "signed" after the bartender had already taken it behind the bar. The bartender then refused to let me take a picture of their pull tab sheet because the handwriting on there sheet and the handwriting on the pull tab were the exact same handwriting and pen color... seems very fishy to me. The bartenders were being incredibly rude about the situation and playing a blame game on us over $25??! read more

Even by lake standards, prices are very high for a no frills place Staff aggressively and repeatedly hounds customers for using the dock and parking, even public parking on the street. I understand their concerns when people are using their parking lot and not buying anything, especially on a busy day, but they do this to paying customers who are purchasing drinks and and on random weekdays where they're hardly getting any business anyways! read more

Stopped there a few months back and the new owner's had just taken over. They didn't have Captain Morgan, they said they ran out!!! They told us to come back and give them another chance. So we went back tonight. Sat outside. No one came to tell us that we had to order inside, then they would bring the food, had to ask some people sitting outside after 10 min went by. They only had one slow ass lady taking the orders and she was also the one taking them out. We went inside because we got chilly. No one came to us, so we went to the lady and asked her if they come to the table and she said yes but it would be a while. They also had run out of a lot of stuff that was on the menu!! We left!!! Ive been here a few times before and service was just ok bordering less than that.I had only ordered drinks previously. I decided to give it one more chance as I was a few 100ft away on my jetski. We showed up and sat on the patio near everyone else who was eating. Ten minutes later we had nobody even look in our direction so we moved to a table on the patio right near the bar, between the bar and people being served. That was when I realised we had apparently somehow triggered an invisible cloaking devices and it continued. Absolutely nobody noticed us. The waitresses and what looked like a manager was more concerned about getting an umbrella to shade some customers. My son who is 7 put his life jacket on and said lets go after 20 minutes....we left and nobody noticed.... I felt like we were in Twilight zone...Im not sure I should even do this review as Im not sure we were even there In the end this is a dive bar selling booze to boaters and attempting to sell food. The sign on the lake is falling down in disrepair. I would avoid this place. The next place we tried we were seated immediately, a drink and buffet in under 5 minutes. This restaurant has the most beautiful view of any of the other restaurants on the lake. It is unfortunate that the service and food are always dicey. Even just coming for a drink at sunset can be disappointing... well, if you just want the beautiful sunset, they have that, maybe bring your own drinks? Last time we tried coming here, we ended up just leaving as we overheard a table telling the waitress they had been waiting for more than 45 minutes for their food. It is weird because there was no one sitting inside and only four or five tables with people outside. read more

This is not a neighborhood hangout as advertised. Most of the neighbors have been offended in some manner by the owners (with their "Chicago" attitude) My sister (from Houston) father & I went for fish fry last week. The service was extremely slow. & inconsistent. My sister & I were forced to share and served our side orders in large bowl. They offered a large selection of fish, but the flavor was not present or memorable. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as there are so many better ones in the area. read more

M boyfriend and I had company Friday night and decided to go out for dinner. My two sisters and my niece and her two boys came here for fish. We were so embarrassed!! The drinks( bloody Mary's were awful! And the fish was even worse! By far the worst fish fry I've ever had! We all agreed it was horrible. The view was however was breathtaking! I've even living here 20 years and this place has changed hands at least twice. Recent folks are doing nice so decided to try the food on a Fri night. Ordered the baked haddock but they were out so went for the walleye. It was done perfectly but having the skin on I soon realized there were occasional long bones and next to the skin a lot of little bones. I told the owner who was also waiting tables and she said that will happen and she'll tell the cook? Walleye filets don't have bones as I know from catching and eating them for years. Left a note on the bill. She came out to the bar as we were listening to a musician. She said next time I can request the cook to take out the y bones. I told her she was full of s**t. Northern pike have y bones, not walleye. They should get a different source. At least acknowledge a bad filet of something not a walleye. read more

Zero social distancing is in place or even encouraged. I was verbally assaulted by the owner's friend when I asked him to step back 6 ft when he got in my face about a parking spot. Wait staff wore no masks or gloves, the music that was playing was so loud you had to shout to be heard. If you think Covid is a joke you will feel right at home here! Best view on Lake Wisconsin, and surprisingly good food. The corned beef was house made- nicely spiced/salty, and made a delicious Reuben. The soups are house made: a roast squash version was rich, nutty, velvety, and without the usual overdose of cream or pumpkin pie spice. A gyro was an unexpected offering, and hit all the right notes. Under new management, since this summer, has made this one of my favorite lunch stops. read more

We have come here a few times this summer. Great lakeside dining on Lake Wisconsin. Dine in or outside on the many tables they have to offer. This Friday we had the deep fried cod and scallops between two of us. Ruskies were a potato option, and I highly recommend those! The scallops were great, as the ruskies too. The deep fried cod, baked potato were awesome as the hubs says. They have recently had an ownership change. The service is awesome. The menu seems to change frequently. We have had tried to order some items that were not available on a couple of occasions. This could be due to running out of product or new business pains, who knows. Anyway, the menu is looking good and we hope to try the Red Snapper soon! read more

Only went there for the great lakeside location, but it as a disappointment. Very long waits typical on summer weekends. Outside seating can be a challenge due to crowds. Right on Lake WI. Nice view. Good part is that they often have live music in the summer, and some bands are really good. Bad news is that they don't have a website (are you kidding me???) so you have to call to find out what's going on. if you're towing a boat, parking can be a real problem. Food when it comes has been very good in our experience. They do have a dock so if you're boating keep that in mind. They're only a short ride down river from the launch at Remi's Thirsty Moose. read more

Lakeside is a great place to go to listen to live music and get a couple drinks. During the summer it's a stop for us on Lake Wisconsin. The food is good, but make sure you like your food luke warm and that you have plenty of time to wait if the restaurant is NOT busy. That's right, when it's busy food comes out right away. But when it's not a Friday or Saturday the management must decide to cut staff in the kitchen and it takes at least 45 to 60 minutes for an order to come out. This has happened more than 4 times for us. We are teased back because we come when it's busy and think things have changed. But that's what we get. So if you have the time to sit and wait this is the place. But if not, choose another place on the Lake. read more

Worst service anywhere! Went to see a band - 3 songs in they make the band move their stage! Why wouldn't they have had the band set up in the correct spot? While inside I ask about ordering food - go here; go, wait and ask again - go outside to a table; go, wait again and ask again - "No, you have to be at one of those tables they are the only ones for food". Why didn't they all know this? They serve the locals and make the newbies (possible new regulars?) wait forever. Watched as the band waited during a break and never got their drinks even ordered! Waited an hour for food. All 4 people at our table had cold food. They got my order wrong and covered my burger in mushrooms (that i didn't ask for) .kitchens solution was to scrape off the mushrooms and bring it back. My bun still had mushrooms stuck in it while the bun was completely soggy from the mushrooms(thank the lord im not allergic to them). So called owner was running around yelling at all her staff in front of customers and never once apologized to any customers who voiced concerns. Just a shame. We all know restaurants have off nights, but all it takes is some communication and friendliness for someone to return. Will never be returning read more

We were really horrified with the level of service. The food was overpriced and tasted horrible. 17$ for 5 small shrimp...$18 for prime rib that was cold. The best part was the baked potatoe. Very hard to rate, the food is VERY often 5 stars! But, it is inconsistent. Sometimes so poor it would be a stretch to give it 2 stars. The salad bar is great and offers small desert portions. Although there have been times they were missing items such as cheese spread which is amazing and a standard fixture on the salad bar. However, sometime in the past year they decided to limit it to one trip!!!! What a poor, poor business decision. Now, you see several people piling up their plate as high as they can because they know they can't come back. The dinner comes out before they finish, and the remaining salad is tossed. Or, because they can only go up once, people are still very hungry and eat much more fish (all you can eat). Now what's cheaper, fish or salad? We visit frequently and usually sit by the salad bar. So, we get to overhear the complaints from the patrons getting salad. At the same time, or very close to it, they significantly raised their prices. Avoid the lake perch - too much breading, very greasy, and very little fish. This is our favorite place to take friends by boat, WHEN the food is good. Giving One star because treatment of people from out of town is terrible. We use to own property around the corner on the lake and used to visit this place every week. (we were locals) Now we are in Madison and have not been back in a few years and boy have things changed. We went for the Badger game Sat. 9/20/14. The food was good and we were having a good time and wanted to play the games in the back and noticed a sign after I put $20 in the machine that they are now only paying out from Tues. thru Thur. So I guess if you can't be there... on of all days TUESDAY??? then you are not welcome to play. I guess its all about taking care of the locals and to hell with anyone from out of town. I was shocked and insulted to say the least. Not Mon. but TUES??? now that speaks volumes to me. They don't want the "non locals" coming in on the weekend and cashing out jackpots on the machines. We finished our drinks and left and I will not be back under this management and I will tell family and friend also. That takes Balz to post something like that and to think they actually think no one will put two and two together. They are happy to take your money and you can play but you're just not allowed to win anything. read more
