Buffalo transplant here - this place was FANTASTIC. The wings taste like home. Big and crispy. The sauces are on point. Pizza logs are perfect. SO happy to have some solid Buffalo food down here! My bestie and I went here to belly up earlier this week. Super fun and I really like the atmosphere. I'm not a wing girl (only a wingman to my friends, LOL), but I AM a fry girl. We ordered the fries with melted cheese on top. Even though I'm a simple, light eater and was starving...they were really good! LOVED that they had Electric Jellyfish, my fave. I've been here twice since they opened and the quality and service has been great each time. The wings are enormous and extremely good! Our server, Derrick, was great and accommodating on Sunday (I forget who our server was Thursday, but he did an amazing job as well). TJ came up to our table and introduced himself as well and you can tell he cares about the product they put out to the customers. I loved that the pricing was straight forward with no surcharges. The food was great. We had the hatch hamburger and wings. I recommend the wings and the hatch burger. My favorite wings were with the habanero mango sauce if you like spicy. Not for the weak. Tried this place for the first time today and it did not disappoint. Purports to be home of the original Buffalo wings, so when in Rome.... Let me tell you, these things were HUGE! Some of the best wings I've ever had. Service was on point too, which is saying something these days. And TVs from every vantage point with all the game on. Great dog friendly restaurant and bar. My wife and I were sat in the indoor patio and it was great for us and our dog. Full air conditioned and easy clean up when our dog had accident on the floor. Caveat: I'm from Buffalo Came in for the wings but saw beef on weck on the menu so I had to try it. Major disappointment. First they had a $3.50 upcharge for "extra beef" so I should have known right away that this wasn't like your typical beef on weck from Western NY, which come with enough meat that you wouldn't need extra. I opted for the extra, and was then presented with a sandwich that could have easily passed for a kids meal. The roll was about 1/2 the size of a normal kimmelweck roll, and the meat even with the "extra" was still not what you would expect from a beef on weck. For the almost $17.00 charge it was a definite disappointment. I will probably come back to try the wings, but rest assured the next beef on weck I buy will be somewhere in the 716 area code. read more

All in my family concluded that Gossip Shack had better wings, but these are not too far behind. If wing taste and quality are your priority, you will not be disappointed here. the bad: cost! My family of 3 split the 20 wing order, 3 drinks, and the "loaded" fries. $70 including tip. Sorry but way too much for this meal. Unlikely to return due to cost alone. When we ordered the $10 "loaded" fries as a side/appetizer, we envisioned a giant sloppy basket of gluttonous, angioplasty-inducing goodness. What we were served was laughable - a small side plate of about 20 mediocre fries with a light drizzling of (admittedly good) queso and bacon bits. Come on guys - this was a half-assed effort, and certainly not worth $10. finally, wet naps are a must at any wing place. I'd consider offering them. Had our walk-out price been $50, I would have still concluded that Gossip Shack is a way better (and less expensive) option for wings in the area. At $70 though, sorry but I'm out. read more

BEWARE - Keep your receipt until it clears your bank. Server (Sophia) changed the tip amount I wrote in and made the total higher than what I had originally written. I left 20%, but she felt the need to increase it anyway. Called the restaurant and was offered a refund to my account as they could see the tip amount was altered. They said they would handle it in-house. The difference was small, but makes me mad that people feel they can steal from you. Best wings in RR. Been there multiple times and it's always well run and high quality despite the business. Great management. This is not a discount wings place like Wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings. These are high quality wings, hence a bit more expensive. I saw some guy leave a review for 1 star cause he thought the wings and beers were too expensive lol. Being from Buffalo, my expectations were not that high for the place that's supposed to be like the place where wings were first served. That's because the Anchor Bar in Buffalo doesn't have the best wings. In fact, far from it. They serve a lower grade of wing, they're small with not much meat, and their sauce is really inconsistent. It's really a tourist attraction in Buffalo more than a local eatery. Most people who live there would choose to go to one of several other places for wings over the Anchor Bar. I will say that the Anchor Bar here is the first place I've had wings outside of Buffalo that were cooked the way they're cooked in Buffalo. Most places don't know that they're supposed to be nice and crispy. They're usually soggy and soft outside of Buffalo because they don't get them crispy enough to be able to maintain that crispiness when the sauce goes on. They got that right at the Anchor Bar in Round Rock (but that may have been because they were served almost dry). Unfortunately, the same small wings they use in Buffalo are used here. The "single" order (10 wings) came out almost dry rather than "tossed" in sauce and dripping like they should have been. So I asked our server (who was great) for some extra sauce. What came out was not even close to authentic, and at $20 for 10 wings they should be MUCH better. The sauce tasted like vinegar more than anything else. I made the mistake of not tasting it before I poured it over my wings and ended up having to scrape it off with a piece of celery. The wings themselves consisted of 7 flats and only 3 drums so that was disappointing. In most Buffalo restaurants they come 50-50 unless you request something different. From there, it got worse. The "blue cheese dressing" was inedible. It was some form of imitation blue cheese dressing that, if a restaurant in Buffalo tried to serve it, they would be run out of town. I'm being very kind in my description of it. They should be forbidden from serving something that bad. Especially in a place that's supposed to be authentic Buffalo food. We also ordered four Anchor Bar margaritas but those were so sour they were hard to get down. The main ingredient was supposed to be some orange liquor, but there was not a hint of that and the lime was overwhelming they were hard to get down. Thankfully, things started looking up a bit. We had also ordered a pizza and when I took a bite, I closed my eyes and thought I had been teleported back to Buffalo. It was truly delicious and absolutely reminded me of home. There just isn't anything like "Cup and Char" pepperoni and real cheese. It was really good. I lived in Buffalo for the first 32 years of my life. I'm definitely spoiled when it comes to authentic Buffalo foods. I've been all over the country and tried wings, pizza, beef on weck (when you can find it), etc. all over. It always blows my mind that they can't get it right. These foods are not that hard to make. But the difference between making it right, and making it wrong is massive in terms of taste. But the Anchor Bar has no excuses. Overall, especially considering the price (well over $100 for four and we each only had one drink that was $6 each thanks to happy hour, we were very disappointed. I'm sure we'll be ordering pizza from there now and then. But that's it. I'll have to run up there and pick up the pizza, and then stop somewhere else on my way back to get wings! I was surprised that one the original Buffalo Wing restaurants from Buffalo was open in Round Rock, right down the street from us! This review isn't about one visit in particular, I've been back 3 times-and it's amazing every time. Not sure if I've ever had better wings. They also have a really extensive menu, with pizza, and various pub fare. They even have vegan/vegetarian options! AMAZING! As far as the space goes, it's a sports bar to the nines, with TV's everywhere. Whatever game you wanna watch, it's probably on. Staff is great each time I've visited. All in all, I can't say enough good about Anchor Bar. Run don't walk! read more

The Anchor Bar in RR is deserving of all of the accolades it has been receiving. Have been coming here with friends/ family ever since football season started and It's the go to sports bar/ wing joint in this area. So glad it opened. TVs are wonderful and the overall place is clean and well kept ( unlike other wing places/ sports bars in the vicinity). Food wise everything that me, my family and friends have tried have been delicious and come out hot ( special accolades for that). Drinks are top shelf and there is a good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. A special shout out to Derrick ( I hope I spelled that correct). A really chill bartender and good representative for the business. I didn't know that I was interacting with the owner on several occasions in the past until I came to write this review. He has always been very accommodating and proactive and that attitude seems to carry over to the staff. I highly recommend that you give this place a try. read more

This place is the real deal! We have been twice now and will definitely be regulars. The wings are on point and THE BEST I've had. However, this review is to share our entire experience. The service is like no other! Tonight we had the privilege to sit in Maria's section, by the end she felt like an old friend. She made our rare night out without the kids one to remember. My husband had two mixed drink, one was Mari's suggestion and well it is now his favorite! Their drinks are fantastic and don't take 10 minutes to come out. AWFUL!!! STAY AWAY .... POOR SERVICE AND WORSE MGMT!!!! Went to watch ncaa basketball and enjoy drinks only to find it's a chore to get a drink, water, order food or to need condiments with food. After repeatedly having to ask for service, the manager behind bar interrupt my conversation with my wife several times with passive confrontational behavior, which I ignored until finally I had to ask the manager for water and he got upset that I asked. Then I asked the busser to remove the dishes which were sitting in front of us for 30-45mins, which put the manager over the edge and he decided to refuse to serve us further. There are too many restaurants / bars struggling for customers to treat customers with such disrespect!!! Suggest avoiding the misery and dissatisfaction. read more

Finally the king has arrived!!! The greatest wings ever!! The food is exactly the same as the original in Buffalo. People real chicken wings are not breaded. These are real wings. Giant, REAL, crispy, perfectly seasoned wings. The pizza is incredible. Soft dough, sweet sauce, the finest cheese and actual pepperoni (not the wannabe crap everyone else in Texas offers). If you never had beef on weck you must try it. Slow roasted, juicy and sliced perfectly! The best beef on weck outside of Western New York. Forget everything you know about pizza logs! Those were all imposters. The original pizza logs from Buffalo can be found here. Anchor Bar may not have invented pizza logs but they certainly perfected them. The staff is really good at their jobs. Friendly, happy people that are eager to please. The server we had was the best I've had in Texas. He was very attentive and friendly. He made some good drink recommendations that everyone loved. I hope no one tells the owners but their drink prices are too low, lol. This was the best dining experience I've had in years. Now if you want to watch a game this is the place. Ridiculously clean, dozens of HUGH tvs and lots of space, all with great service. This is by far the best experience I've had in years. We visited this restaurant on a whim, we'd never heard of it before, but we were in the area with our dog and wanted to see some football. From the start, the customer service was exceptional! I called ahead and even though the patio wasn't technically open, they welcomed us anyway. When we arrived, I truly felt that the staff went above and beyond. The bartender handled our table and she was fantastic, the hostess, the staff members who brought our food out, brought our dog water, and even the folks who just came to say hi to our dog - every interaction was great. On top of all that, we ordered lots of food (boneless wings, bone-in wings, and the appetizer sampler platter) and loved all of it! We will most definitely be back. read more
