Lady behind the counter was nice. The establishment was clean and typical bar layout. The food wasn't good unfortunately. Almost everything was burnt. The paneer tastes old, and the Tikka was extremely thick, gritty, and had no flavor besides being salty. No spices no anything. Tikka is my top 3 favorite dishes and this was almost the worse one I had. Barely any chicken and mainly bell pepper. This is definitely more causal Indian dining options. It's got a bar centered with smaller tables that you can order food and drinks from scanning a QR code from. If you are wanted to be waited on hand and foot this likely wouldn't be the best option however the bartenders are still checking in with guest just not as regularly as your traditional restaurant experience. Me and my partner split the Punjabi chicken curry, a biryani, and had some garlic naan to pair with it. I was in the area waiting in a long line at a local store on the area and I was HANGRY. Yelp brought me here so I ordered online via the restaurant's website for pick up. The website lists tacos and wings however upon clicking it to order their Toasttab showed all of the tacos were out of stock. I'm going to be keeping my eye out when these items do come back as I would love to try these items. Kudos to them for having dedicated parking spots for pick up orders. Makes it convenient. I wanted to try a veg curry tonight so I ordered the chana masala (garbanzo beans). You are given three options for the level of heat: mild, medium and hot. I felt brave since I love spicy food so I went with Hot. We also ordered other items such as the chicken chilly to try and the kiddo chose mozzarella sticks with fries. There is a bar inside. They also have tables inside and outside if you want one dine in. When picking up to go orders they will direct you to the bar. The food was ready at the time promised. The chana masala was good. This has been by far one of the most amazing Indian restaurant I found in ATX. They serve sizzlers! And delicious dahi k kebab (they could use some presentation and plating here though). Everything we tried was mouthwatering. The Kebob platter is the best way to try all when you can't pick just one. Their cocktail menu is very unique. Husband enjoyed the goat curry a lot. And I loved my kofte (no pic sorry). Simple ambiance, amazing full bar, friendly staff. I'll start with the good. inside is nice and there's a lot of TVs if you want to eat Indian food and watch sports this is your spot. However, my food wasn't enjoyable so I don't have anything positive to say. I came here today for lunch to go with my wife. My wife ordered ahead. I ordered the Punjabi Chicken Curry with roti and she ordered chicken Tikka Masala with naan bread with cheese. She didn't receive naan bread with cheese it was instead naan bread with garlic. Our chicken was cubed chicken breast, but the chicken breast in both entrees was dry and not very tender at all. My Punjabi Chicken Curry wasn't flavorful there's plenty of better tasting Indian Food restaurant in the area like Bayleaf, Curry Kitchen, and Rock N Grill, for the quality and flavor to be off. The Tikka Masala was on the bland side in flavor. Neither of was a le to enjoy and finished our meal. I was very disappointed and won't be back! read more

Went here on a double date. We shared 3 curries among us, the lamb, goat and chicken tikka masala. All of them were pretty good, my favorite was the chicken tikka masala. My biggest complaint was they're very stingy with their meat, the ratio of curry to meat was 80% curry, 20% meat. I got the hot level of spice and it was still edible for sure so don't be afraid to go spicy. I wasn't a big fan of the goat, it was a bit too sweet for me. We also got the garlic naan and cheese stuffed naan and that was really good. The service was neutral, they don't have servers come to the table but rather you order on your phone on their website which was interesting. This place has suffered in quality and attention since opening. Service was terrible - we kept asking about vegetarian recommendations and the server kept recommending chicken dishes and finally said that's the only thing she eats. Chaat came out with basically no ingredients - just Dahi and chutney. The other server denied chaats ever have alu, chana, onion, sev, green chutney or any other ingredients besides Paapdi and Dahi - anything at all. He then went on to charge us separately for each add-on and now tells us that's always how they bill it - making it a $16 tiny side plate of chaat. He didn't even tell us he did that until my mom realized something seemed really off - because those new screens don't show you an itemized receipt before you are paying. Ridiculous. I'm sad because I liked my first experience and was excited to bring my mom to try. Our neighboring table also told us they really didn't like their dining experience and will not be returning. Never been to an indian restaurant with a solid bar and outdoor area. Great for lunch and happy hour times especially and not just for dinner. Chicken was made of thighs so it was leaner which I prefer, charred well too. I'd order the hariyali and achari again as it was crisp and tender, I like the chilly chicken but messed with my palette after switching up between Tikkas. Next time I'd have that as a stand-alone and wait before main meal as I ordered all three at once. Ordering was east with the QR code and easy to pay too. And apparently I had to add chana gravy (which is typically included in samosa chaat) for some additional cost. Without it, the samosa chat did not taste well. Still drooling from my meal! Been wanting to try this place but never make it in since I usually have my kiddos. Checked the menu and PTL, chicken fingers are on the menu so in we went. Ordering is different and simple, scan the QR code in front of you and order from there, you even pay from there if you want; it was awesome, I wish more places did this. Service was great, we were greeted by someone in the kitchen when we walked in then the server/bartender. The ambiance is very bare, minimalistic style, and was very clean, The food.... I ordered the butter chicken and it was the best I've had in a long time. The best I've ever had a friend made me and this was right up there with it. I told my daughter I wanted to drink the sauce and she looked at me like I was insane lol. But my daughter loved the butter naan as well as her chicken fingers. I will be back FOR SURE. I've dined in before and very sad that quality of food has gone down significantly. I tried the gobi Manchurian and chat items this time. Both were below average at best. I've tried their main course north indian dishes before and while their quantity has always been on the lower side at least their flavor was good. This time, the info Chinese quantities were skimpiest I've seen in town and the chat was a joke. The samosa chat comes without chole or ragda and on top of their price they charge $2.5 extra for chole. In what world does chat come without chole or ragda?? Clearly they have forgotten how to make chaat items as their chaat only comes with basic like yogurt and chutney. We asked for all items to be spicy and the chat was still SWEET. Disappointed is an understatement. What was really the last straw was we saw the lady owner literally sneakily pocketing the cash tip given herself instead of passing it to the staff working and sharing with them. Nothing notable about the service. The lady owner - this is a note to you: Tips are meant for the serving staff not the owners. Please pay them well at least after the exorbitant prices for the skimpy food you serve. AusIndia - you got to do better on food quality and specially on quantity. Some of the best North Indian food I've had in Austin! Love their unique bar menu, delicious food, and friendly staff. We started off with some cocktails, which include a lot of indian fusion drinks. Between our group, we got the Punjabi Mule, Spicy Bloody Mary, and the Old Fashioned. Everyone loved their drinks! For apps, we shared the Paneer Fingers, Panner Pakora, and the Aloo Tikki Chaat, all of which were really tasty and left us wanting more. Being a chaat lover, I do wish the chaat menu was a little more extensive but we were really happy with what we ordered. Finally, for main food, we went with the Paneer Makhani, Dal Makhani, Goat Curry and added a side of onion kulcha and tandoori roti. Everything was absolutely delicious and we definitely wanted to keep eating even though we were stuffed! My wife and I loved the food here. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala hot on the spice level and it's no joke really spicy, but very good. It was a big portion and enough to feed the both of us. We also ordered the garlic naan and Paneer Tandoori Tikka. Both were excellent. The ordering system was okay. You sit at a table and order with your smart phone instead of with a person. Saw that this place opened up recently and thought it would be a good place to meet with a friend. For background, I am Indian and haven't been to an Indian restaurant in several years because I usually just eat at home. I liked the idea of this Indian place being a bar and restaurant and it was very clean and modern looking for an Indian place. I got the sizzling paneer plate with mixed seasoning and it was really good! Came out on a hot sizzling plate, some veggies on the side and nice flavorful paneer - though a little pricey for what you get I would say. My friend got samosa chaat which was ok, samosa was a little soft. I brought take out for my husband - chicken tikka masala which he liked! I liked that you could order via QR code and keep adding things as you sat instead of having to call a waiter over every time - very with the times! I would definitely like to go again to try their cocktails that have some Indian flair! read more

The restaurant is really well decorated on the inside. The antler chandeliers we're the only thing that we're a bit random. You order your food through an app and everything was fairly quick. Feeling a big lukewarm about Austindia. We had gotten a flyer for this restaurant when they opened since we live just down the street and were excited to try it as Indian is some of our favorite comfort food. We came in around 6:30/7 on a Wednesday so the place was a bit empty since it was the top of the dinner hour (just ourselves and one other party was seated when we first got in then three more tables trickled in). When you arrive, a waiter comes to introduce themselves but you order and pay all through a QR code which I appreciated the efficiency of. We ordered the Sassy Lassi and Punjabi Mule for drinks and samosas, butter chicken, chana masala and garlic naan. All good, but not as great as some of the other Indian restaurants I've tried in the area. We knew as soon as our rice was set down we would need more because the curry serving was just so much (I think our waiter knew too because she told us to tell her if we would need more). My butter chicken was slightly too sweet and not medium spice enough for my preference. My guest described her chana masala as too oily. The Lassi was ok... a bit strong and felt like it was lacking more of a mango flavor. What mostly disappointed us was that once we got our food, it's as though the rest of our experience was forgotten. We waited a while to have our waters refilled, had to remind the waiter about our drinks, and it was hard to get their attention for more rice and to ask for these things. We had leftovers and didn't even bother asking for takeaway boxes because we were just thirsty and didn't want to wait any more and have to ask for water a second time. I really want to support this new small business, but unfortunately don't think I will be returning because of the lack of follow through on the experience as a whole and just good enough Indian food when I can just drive a couple of miles somewhere else. I'm so glad we finally tried this gem! Everything was excellent, from the food and drinks to the friendly and attentive staff. They were helpful and accommodating with gluten-free and dairy-free options, and there were a lot of options available. Yay! The chicken pakoras were incredibly juicy and served piping hot. I also had the lamb curry which was the best Indian dish I've had in ages. You can tell the food is prepared with love. I can't wait to go back to try more! My husband and daughter had the lamb butter masala, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, all of which they enjoyed and recommended.
