I have to say for being my first time here I was surprised. Lots of friends have been here but it is not close to where I live so... I ordered a beer and a hotdog with fries. We did a pickup order here so I can't speak to their service in restaurant but the lady who took our order was super kind over the phone. We ordered a franks special and a pepperoni pizza along with an order of wings. The buffalo wings were delicious! Perfect level of sauce on them and cooked well. They are also full size wings not like the little ones you get from places these days. The pizza was also pretty good. Clearly had fresh ingredients and a homemade, hand tossed crust. Best meatball sub I've ever had!! Family really liked the cheesesteak subs, chicken tenders and fries as well.

We have been going to Franks for 13 years. The quality has gone down since the new owners took over. We asked for a Franks Special tonight and asked for a crispy crust and it was soggy. I could not even cut the crust, it was rubbery. They were apologetic and told me that with a loaded pizza the crust would not get crispy, well then don't advertise the pizza if its to many toppings. A few months back I ordered lasagna and it was still frozen in the middle and that was the second time that had happened to me. I will not be going there again. We hadn't been at Frank's for quite some time, and as we had family visiting we thought we'd have some pizza. So we decided to give Frank's another try a few weeks ago. We liked that they now accept Credit Cards because back in 2021 and 2022 they accepted cash only. We ordered two 16 inch large pizza, one with two toppings and the other one with 3 toppings. I am sorry to say but all four of us were disappointed in the pizza. There were very little pepperoni and black olive slices over the two topping pizza, and the same for the three topping pizza. And both pizza had a solid two inches of crust (on the edge of the pizza) that had nothing on it, and the sauce and mozzarella were very sparce on both pizza. Now we did learn that the original owner (Frank) had retired some time ago, and there was a new owner. Perhaps that change of ownership was the reason why we all felt the pizza was nothing to write home about. Unfortunately, the unanimous decision of all four of us, was that we would give it a two star rating, and we would not return again. read more

Sadly, this place has really deteriorated since sold to new owners. Come back, Frank. There is no more Amber Bock on draft, no more Italian sausage on spaghetti or the delicious sausage parmesan sub. Ordered the chicken sub last visit and it was fried chicken nuggets on a bun. It really is sad as this was our go to place. We will miss the servers as they are wonderful. Staff are rude and act like they don't want to be there. The three times I've eaten there recently, the food was horrible. Alfredo had separated and was cold, the steak and cheese had no taste, the calzone was not cooked and the wait staff couldn't get the order right at all. Ordered take-out food from Franks Wood Fired Pizza place out on 24. Pizza, Italian sub, garlic bread and salad. Pizza was pretty good! Wood fired, thin crust. HOWEVER: The sub was pretty bad, although the meats were good. Hardly any vinegar/oil! The sub bread's doesn't taste good. Chewy/doughy. Garlic bread was burnt. Salad was pretty small, not a lot of ingredients for $4.25. They probably give you more if you order in, rather than take out. I'll probably give them another chance with a hamburger or Italian pasta dish, but subs are right out. read more

Found this little place on the side of the road while helping recovery efforts from hurricane Florence. Their sign had been blown off so someone had to point them out. After being told it would be a 15-20min wait on our to go order. It was finally ready over 40min later. Then we when got home we realized they messed up our burger order and our steak and cheese sub. I'm not a local but we visit Franks whenever we can often stoppping on frequent trips to Atlantic beach. We absolutely love everything about this place ( except maybe the ranch pc's that they serve with their wonderful wings ). We have even carried a cooler to grab a pizza for our return trip home about 3.5 hours away. But this is not about the food which we give 5 stars or about the friendly service we have experienced each and every of our many visits, another 5 stars. On our most recent trip we were having a group of 12 and wanted to stop at Franks as we have done before with our group. Since our last visit one lady in our group has started trying to eat gluten free because of many digestive issues. She does not have celiac but changing her diet has helped her issues tremendously. I called beforehand and wanted to ask the owner if she brought in her own gluten free pizza crust could they make her a pizza on this crust and charge her accordingly. When I started the conversation with the person that answered the phone as soon as I mentioned the term gluten free she was quick to say that they did not have anything like that. I let her finish and then tried to explain what we were asking for and she said she would ask the owner. I would have really liked to have spoken with the owner, even making sure I didn't call during peek lunch or dinner hours, but she was quick to say "hold on I'll ask ". She came back and said they could not accommodate the request on a busy night. I asked if I could explain to the owner that this was a premade 10 inch par baked pizza crust and you basically just melt on the cheese and your done. Like I stated earlier she doesn't have celiac and contamination is not an issue so it could have been heated in an oven, conveyer belt , or even the microwave. Maybe a two minute process in a pizza oven . We are a fun relaxed group of beer drinking , heavy tipping, over ordering middle age friends and if the owner's decision was no I would have understood but truely feel that the communication got lost and they did not know what an easy request this was. The person on the phone responded "look, she said she couldn't do it on a busy night , Friday is a busy night and until the sign says Betsy's Place, that's the way it is" So I said thank you and hung up. The whole situation really rubbed me the wrong way as we were just trying to accommodate and include one person in our group but no worries , we found another restaurant and am sure sometime in the future will return to Franks. I was disappointed in my burger after hearing such rave reviews on it. It was okay, but you can get a better one at any Applebees or Chilis. The wings, on the other hand, were fantastic! They were huge and very tasty. Might go with the "medium" instead of the "hot" next time though. I hear the pizza is good, but it's pretty pricey. Like Abbey Road in Cary, this is another fine restaurant in a gas station. It's on the mainland highway between Swansboro and Morehead City, so it's not that convenient to the beaches of Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach. It was just good ol' pizza that tops the chains any day of the week. We didn't eat in -- though they do deliver -- but it looked like it wouldn't be a bad place to sidle up for a beer and wings if you don't mind cigarette smoke and car racing. You can choose from their well-appointed selection of draft beers, including Budweiser and Miller Lite. For something bolder, one might try the Yuengling. But if you want to go native, stick with the Natural Light. The crisp, refreshing flavor of Natty Lite in a pint glass will make you never want to go back to cans. This is a place I would normally drive right by, it's in a gas station strip mall and reminds me of a biker bar, but let me the you, you won't find better wings or pizza in the area. We Placed an order For 2 subs and 12 wings mild And we explicitly ask for extra sauce on the wings and ranch. When our order arrived there was no ranch and no extra sauce on the wings. When my husband called to inform them of this they basically said that we did not ask for extra sauce. I ask to speak to the manager and/or owner And she informed me that that my husband spoke to her earlier. Whatever happened to a business That Wouldn't stand there and argue with you but would just make the order right. She kept arguing with me that my husband never asked for extra sauce . I was totally shocked by this behaviour . And then when she put the manager on the phone, The manager took the employee side . I'm totally shocked by this businesses behaviour ! When my husband called the 1st time they didn't offer to make it right But when I called a second time they offered to bring ranch and sauce to us but it wasn't until I called them on the carpet about accusing me of lying. No I do not want sauce or ranch after that. I always give all businesses great reviews but I was totally disappointed in Frank's pizza's behaviour tonight and this is the 2nd time that this is happened.
