I went in for the penny candy that was sold by the weight. I found some of my long ago favorites and got to do comparisons from then to now. There were so many treats I wanted to buy! The shop is small and well laid out, little mementos mixed in with the sweet treats. The proprietor was stationed behind his counted, dapper in his dress attire, he was kind, friendly and easy going. I will go again, there were some cherished sweets there. Shop local!

Beautifully decorated store with carefully crafted displays of chocolates and candies of all types. The owner told me the products were all made locally or within the New England area so they're fresh. I picked up the best peanut butter cups I have ever tasted and a selection of other chocolate items for dinner with a friend. There are walls and tables and cases full of chocolates of all shapes and fillings, and some store-made goodies like sour patch people too. Pre-packaged boxes, a counter where we can select our own chocolates to fill a box in whatever size we choose, a special Rhode Island themed corner (maps of RI, sea shells, sailboats, lollipops, etc), holiday selections, and cards to go with your gift. I grabbed a few Halloween peanut butter pumpkins that had been marked down this week. The store is amazing! Service was a bit slow (the person who waited on us was clearly proud of the product and happy to wait on us, but was just a bit slow moving at the register). The chocolate is very very tasty. My only complaint is that the peppermint patties had too much yummy dark chocolate for the filling - things didn't melt in my mouth at the same rate - lol. I didn't expect that the sour patch people to be as good as the name brand version but I thought they were actually better, and that says a LOT since those things are a major food group in my house! I've found their goodies at both The Hive Bar inside Jordan's Jungle in Pawtucket and Coastal Roasters in Tiverton, and every treat I've tried has been fantastic. The portions are generous, so I can usually get two servings out of one dessert. So far I've tried **Ichor of the Gods** (caramelized banana with toffee bits), **Coconut Scream Pie** (a coconut cream pie cookie with roasted coconut, white chocolate, and graham cracker crumbs), and my honorable mention, **Gemini Rising** (a blueberry limoncello cookie rolled in lemon zest sugar). Every one has been fresh, creative, and packed with flavor. Ambrosia is definitely next on my list! I also appreciate that the ingredients are clearly listed, which is always helpful when you have dietary restrictions. My only small complaint, as a Type 1 diabetic, is that some of the treats are quite sweet. That's easily solved by enjoying them over a couple of sittings.

Being surrounded by lush greenery, beautiful hydrangeas and the waterfront made for such a peaceful experience. I especially loved wandering upstairs to check out the plants and getting a view of the carousel! The menu had so many tempting options that I wish I could have tried more, but with a full day of coffee stops planned for the challenge, I'll just have to save them for next time. However there is no AC and it was HOTTTT the day we went in. The regular iced coffee wasn't great, but the food and lattes I've had before have been good. Go for service, stay for the experience and order a latte (not an iced coffee).
