OMG !!! The quality of the nuts here are AWESOME.. I was told about this place a few months ago, and I decided to get some Christmas Holiday gift boxes for some friends. They have a complete line of nuts, bakery, confectionery and concession supplies. All made on the premises. Their products can be found in restaurants, markets, bakeries, candy and ice cream shops...so you know you are getting top quality. They sell lots of wholesale, but many of their products can be bought at retail quantities.....one pound for example. The Holiday Nut Mix boxes I got were 8 oz each for $4.75. Quality is excellent. Many years ago, I would buy almonds and walnuts in a grocery store and did not know the difference as to how delicious and fresh nuts could be until six years ago, a friend held a fund raiser selling a number of products purchased at the Virginia and Spanish Peanut Company. Every employee there is patient, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting one decide which style of almonds, for instance, to choose as the variety is tremendous. The staff (owners?) are friendly and knowledgeable. The variety of what you can get there is astounding. They do not have a price list, I was told the prices fluctuate, sometimes a couple of times a day. However, they have bulk discounts/pricing and are very fair, as well as pleasant. Raw or roasted. 1 pound or 50 pounds. With a very nice sliding scale for pricing. The family who owns it is extremely nice, honest and knowledgeable about everything they do. They also make the BEST peanut butter around called Brown Bear Peanut Butter. The ingredients are...Peanuts....and thats it! No extra oils, sugars or fillers. You can get it at this location for $3.50 a pound. Or at almost every farmers market in the state for about $5 a pound. Personally I like the 7 pounder!!! If you like nuts, you should check it out. You won't know what anything costs upfront, but the selection is very good and the prices seem fair. Don't worry about the peanut dust! First visit this week. Got the unsalted peanuts in the shell, saw some of that dust that another reviewer was talking about, but the peanuts were absolutely delicious. On closer inspection, I believe there is something about their roasting system that pulverized that little red wrapper around some peanuts. If the shells are completely intact, none of this dust gets inside the peanuts. If there is even a pinhole opening, the dust gets into the Shell, and with a larger opening, it gets into the peanut itself. It made no difference whatsoever in the delicious taste of the peanuts. When I first saw it I was afraid spiders or mites had gotten in there, but I am 100% sure it is from the peanuts. We will definitely be back for more! By the way, we thought they were the best peanuts we had ever eaten. I accidentally got unsalted, they were so incredible that's all I am going to get going forward. I plant to try their trail mixes and bulk chocolate too! Ignore their online price list! You can buy most everything by the pound. read more

Brown Bear peanut butter is really good

This place is great. As others have mentioned, this is the headquarters of a wholesaler, not really a retail store. But they do sell their products to customers off the street, they have a menu there and the woman who was helping me was nice, patient and helpful. I took a star off because, if you do visit, you can't see their products and you can't see their rates - I guess they don't want to keep printing them up. That's ok though - there was a gentleman in the back calling around for almond prices, so you know they are trying hard to get good prices. Very high quality product, which is the most important thing. I bought a pound of roasted almonds, a bag of trail mix and their Brown Bear peanut butter. Everything was fresh and tasty. For us, the best part of this place is the wide variety of unsalted products - its so hard to find good, unsalted nuts at a reasonable price. And the peanut butter is unsalted. When the nuts are good, you don't need all that salt. Excellent local place that obviously has very high standards. Do check it out. Bring cash or check. Note: they sell their products at farmers markets - just saw them at Hope Winter Market. I *think* that the prices were slightly higher, but not sure. read more

This place has been around for 98 years, and is family owned. They have a small showroom where you can buy snack mixes and nuts by the pound. I bought the Cajun mix and it was so-so, though the toffee peanuts in it were excellent. Next time I would just buy the nuts and skip the slightly stale bar mix. read more

What a find!! I was a little skeptical that one place could offer all these products. As I am in Providence quite often, I decided to give this place a try. I am really glad that I did. I brought home a big bag of pistachios, chocolate almonds & raisins. Pricing was pretty competitive, but the quality seems much better than what you would find at other stores.
