We got married here and had the most marvelous wedding weekend! Everyone was AMAZED at how gorgeous the inn is, how delicious our meals were, and how courteous all of the staff was. Emma, our wedding coordinator, went ABOVE AND BEYOND, all weekend, to make sure everything was perfect for every guest. From getting everyone down the aisle to getting my mother in law with dementia ready for bed when wedding festivities being too much, she was so thoughtful and is the reason we chose Anchorage as our venue to begin with! Chef Adam wowed us all with an amazing menu for our wedding dinner. We always love the restaurant for date night, so it was fun to share our favorite dishes with family at our wedding. Amy, the owner, was amazing about checking in and working on every detail of the wedding, recommending the best vendors for the big day. Spent a long weekend in Beaufort. Location was ideal but the manager was very impersonal, coffee was cold at breakfast and our room wasn't cleaned properly the first day. Since we both have travelled extensively throughout our careers we have experienced 5 star lodging but this wasn't close to that category. read more

An excellent brunch in a fabulous 1770s Inn located near the marshland and Beaufort River. There are many historic places in this area but in my opinion this one near the river is superb. When you step inside you feel like you have stepped back in time. We were able to get a last minute brunch reservation, the last time for brunch is 1:30 fyi. Brunch was excellent Chef Toni brought our food choices to life, not the same old stuff. We were delighted to meet her and tell her how much we enjoyed everything. Staff here are very friendly and informative about the dishes and the inn. We were able to check out the 3 floors and the balconies with the beautiful views of the water. Can't wait to come back and sample more food and next time we will stay at this terrific working inn! read more

This review is for the restaurant at Anchorage 1770 but we also enjoyed the room at Anchorage the last time we stayed here. We had our wedding anniversary dinner last night at this Ribaut Social Club restaurant at Anchorage 1770 and I can't stop praising on how amazing our steaks were! It was one of the best steak we ate in a while and the gravy and fresh veggies that came with our steaks were fresh and cooked to perfection! Misty, our server, brought us our complimentary sparkling wine that tasted delicious and our fried oysters appetizers were so good. The ambience at the restaurant was so nice with soft music that serenade our dinner. Misty told us that we can go upstairs to their hotel rooftop to enjoy our sunset with our beverages while she keeping our food and table situated for us. What an amazing service and the busboy always make sure to come and refill our water. We loved and enjoyed our dinner! read more

Our second time celebrating birthdays here. Food and service were lovely, although a tad slow. We all agreed that at their price points they could provide bread for the table or at least enough crackers for the Brie when they know it is a shared plate. These are inexpensive add-ons that would go a long way to guest satisfaction. read more

We stayed here while on a getaway to Beaufort. It's a lovely old home built in the 1700's facing the sound. Our room faced the sound which had a great view. The large common area porch was great to relax, have a cocktail, and watch the boats sail back. A wonderful breakfast was provided each morning with several selections to choose. We liked it so much we stayed another night. The inn keeper got us another room on the back side of the house. Both rooms were bright and decorated beautifully. It's right on the edge of the small downtown with many shops and restaurants. Great area to walk the town and historic neighborhoods. Plan to return again in the fall. read more

*PLEASE NOTE: This review was downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star after I received not one but FIVE harassing emails from Chef Daniel Salazar trying to bribe me into removing my review below in exchange for a refund of our disappointing $250 meal. He said unless I removed it he did not feel "comfortable" having me back at the restaurant and he needed to "protect" his business, amongst many other ridiculous things. Maybe this is how they get their 5-star reviews??? I have been blogging and reviewing local restaurants on different platforms for over 10 years and this is the first time I have ever been harassed for it. I emailed the owners with a forward of the harassing emails over a week ago and have yet to receive a response from them. If this is any indication of the kind of establishment they're running they have much bigger problems than the mediocre food. I think it's also worth mentioning that I saw one of the owners arrive as we were sitting on the porch. She was dropped off at the front, walked up the stairs, looked at the few of us dining at her establishment and continued to walk right inside. There was no "hello", no acknowledgment of her customers, and she never circled around to any of the diners, just sat at a table inside with some other people in the middle of the dining room and acted like the rest of us were of no consequence. I've never visited a fine dining restaurant where the owner was there and didn't at least go around to the tables and ask how our meal was going. Despite the exorbitant prices, this is not fine dining. Came for my husband's birthday dinner. After considering the same menu reinvented at every. single. restaurant. in Beaufort, we went with Ribaut Social Club because of the ambiance and slightly more interesting menu choices. We started with the scallop gratin. Although there was only one large scallop, the cauliflower and gratin made up for the size in taste. Hubby had the bone-in aged ribeye and I had the lamb porterhouse. The tastiest thing about my lamb was the sauce. The lamb had no flavor, barely dusted with salt. The same seasonal veggies we both had were crisp and fresh but nothing I couldn't whip up in a few mins in the kitchen. Hubby's ribeye had a delicious aged flavor but neither of our plates were worth $60/each. We both ordered our meat medium rare but both came out medium well at best. The porch seating was great but the majority of the few diners (inside and outside) looked like they were wheeled in from the nearest home for the elderly. There was no music. Waitress was nice enough and explained menu well but we received no birthday candle or any recognition of the special occasion. Not impressed at all. I get the whole post-Covid staff shortages, and changes in consumer behavior, but the menu choices literally were these: Appetizers Charcuterie board Brussels sprouts (no, everyone does not "love Brussel sprouts") Salad Mains Braised short rib Ribeye Halibut Chicken marsala Dessert Tiramisu One dessert? Come on, who can't make an ice cream, and have it available in the freezer? Soups not available on a Saturday night, because you're closed Sun through Tues? And, the bread basket - four pieces of stale sliced bread and rock hard butter. The food itself is thoughtfully prepared, but the lack of choice sets a disappointing tone it's difficult to overcome. read more

Delicious lunch spot in beautiful downtown Beaufort, SC. Our large party ate in a downstairs private area. In the room there was a bathroom with a gorgeous shower area. We assume this room doubles as a wine area because there was a lot of wine in here as well! Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. I had the lump crab Benedict-with a side of THICK BACON! The bacon was more like slices of ham. I wanted more of a traditional bacon-but to each their own! My husband had the C.A.B Benedict, with a side of cheese grits. His favorite things where his potatoes and the cheese grits. I sampled the cheese grits and oh my gosh they were heavenly! He wasn't sold on the filet mignon. He said it was very thin. Overall, our entire party enjoyed the experience. We enjoyed the private space, our carafe of mimosa ($30), and the friendly staff. This lovely B&B is located just a couple of blocks from great shopping & excellent restaurants. The owner & staff are friendly, helpful & welcoming. The bed in our room was huge & comfortable. A delicious breakfast, with many choices, is included. Every morning we enjoyed ours on the gorgeous front porch. Your room is cleaned every day & at night a cookie & water are delivered with a turn down service. They also give you a parking permit so you can park close to the property without worries. We are there a few months ago and had one of the best steaks I have ever tasted. We went on Valentine's Day for our anniversary , service was great but the food was average at best. My wife ordered the double cut pork chop, the portion was huge . The server said that it would be to medium temperature but when she cut into it and it was close to raw. She sent it back and got the salmon that was slightly over cooked . I ordered the strip steak med rare . Th temp was perfect but it was a tough piece of meat. The first time we ate there I thought it was money well spent , the place is fairly expensive . After this visit we probably won't go back. read more

This place is a mansion with a few hotel rooms. I can't speak about the rooms since I came here just for brunch. You can make brunch reservations online at Open Table. We started with some coffee and mimosas- they served coffee the way you want, caffeinated or decaff but the mimosa was weak. For my brunch entrée, I got the smoked duck- which wasn't smoked but tasted fried. It comes on a bed of rice mixed with black eye peas and collard greens. The collard greens were way too salty for me to eat. I also got a side of potatoes, which was not bad. One of the people on our table got the Shrimp and Gnocchi, which was good. I recommend trying that. The steak with potatoes looked good as well. The servers were really friend and made sure to check on us. Overall, I wasn't happy with my meal but few other people in my party liked what they got. read more

Excellent restaurant with a chef that is passionate about serving local low country food with a bit of magic! Highly recommend dining here if are a guest. Be mindful it is a very small dining room & limited seatings. Restaurant is 5 star. Now, this is a very good Inn and well located in Beaufort. Not a 5 star experience by any means and the inn appears to be in disrepair& lacking some basics like upscale bath products. If you can get past the peeling plaster in the ceiling and tired decor, it has it's charms like big gracious porches and an honor bar. It definitely could do with a major facelift. To be fair, this is a front of the house complaint. A friend and I stopped in, no rez for dinner. They asked us to come back at 7:30, about an hour and a half away. No problem. We busied ourselves elsewhere. When we returned at literally 7:44, we were denied seating with some excuse. Now, if the timing is that sensitive, warn the customer not to be late. I was dressed quite casually, and sensed this was a problem from the get go. But... honestly, they could have just said no in the first flipping place! We fell in love with this beautiful, intimate inn, ideally located in an historic mansion on Beaufort's waterfront, a stone's throw from downtown. The staff is lovely and accommodating beyond the call of duty. It was a joy to make reservations- the woman with whom I spoke was very patient and spent quite a long time talking me through all the room options and helping me decide which to choose. When we arrived, the inn wasn't full, so we were offered a choice of rooms and ended up taking a different room than I'd originally booked. This is just the kind of extra special service that makes an inn truly memorable. (Also, they provide free parking passes to park on the street next to the inn, which is super convenient.) Our room, waterfront on the third floor, was lovely - cozy with beautiful views and lots of light. The bed linens are deliciously soft, and the water pressure in the shower is strong - two big tests for us. We also loved the evening delivery of a carafe of lemon water and plate of cookies. As lovely as our room was, the highlight of this place has to be its porches. There are three porches, one on each floor. We spent our first evening on the second floor porch, which fits my image of the quintessential Southern porch to a tee, and watched the sun set with drinks from the Honest John bar. The well-stocked Honest John bar on the third floor is another huge selling point for us. We loved being able to mix our own drinks and hang out for a few hours on the porch. Beaufort itself is wonderful and eminently walkable. It has a lively downtown, and we enjoyed wandering the historic blocks during the day, meandering to dinner at the Saltus River Grill (so delicious we went twice!) both nights, and hanging out in a swing in the waterfront park after dinner. read more

If you're in Beaufort this is a great place to stay. It is conveniently located right at the end of Bay St close to all the restaurants and the bay. When we arrived the owner, Amy, moved her car so we could have a parking space. Very cool. She runs a very nice place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The price point felt high for the quality of the accommodations, but the staff made up for the lack of niceties in the lodging. Lovely B&B in historic Beaufort. Went here for brunch and enjoyed our time here immensely. Our outdoor table for five was positioned beautifully to enjoy the views of the harbor. Service was beyond friendly and accommodating. Our group ordered eggs Benedict, steak and eggs and French toast. Every dish came with a little surprise, and the meals were beautifully plated. Both diners who ordered the steak were pleased with their medium rare requests and the full bodied beefy flavors. The vegetable medley including artichokes was a nice and surprising addition to their plates. The Benedict lovers praised the sauce, and the accompanying ingredients. The French toast was a bit mundane, but when paired with the glazed pecans and syrup, it became a shining star. The bacon side was plentiful, but a bit more of a jerky bite than a crisp and crunchy one. Nevertheless, we are eager to return to sample the chef's dinner offerings. read more

I wish our stay was longer than one night! We took a side trip to Beaufort while visiting Savannah and stayed at Anchorage 1770. First, the place is gorgeous with large porches and is beautifully decorated and landscaped. They offer a free breakfast menu (not just the regular buffet like many B&Bs). It is right across the street from the water so you can't beat the views and right in town so you can easily walk to everything. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. But now let's talk about the rooms/bed. I loved the decor and the bed was FANTASTIC! I've already contacted them to ask about all the brands they use so I can recreate it at home. Make sure to visit beautiful Beaufort if you can and if you do...stay at Anchorage 1770! read more

This inn is so cute! We loved the atmosphere and the staff. Pet friendly, delicious breakfast, amazing view. Very clean.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were staying somewhere special. The house is gorgeous! The third floor balcony is cozy and fourth floor balcony has amazing views! Beds are comfortable. Rooms do not have a mini fridge, there is one on the fourth floor you can use as well as an honor bar. We did have a couple things from the honor bar and thought the prices were average. The staff is wonderful and go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. There are bikes and beach chairs available for you to use. Breakfast on the front porch is a highlight! The food is so good and plentiful!! And the location can't be beat! I can't say enough good things about our stay! read more

As bed and breakfasts go, this is at the top of the list. Charming old house, really well done. Coffee available round the clock--and its good. Full breakfast service in the morning was very good as well. Only drawback is that in an Inn with 10-12 rooms, check in and service are mediocre and rushed. What else is there to do? Personal attention is extremely lacking. We know the area somewhat well, but if we didn't, I'm afraid there would not have been a lot of help. I had heard from several people that this was a beautiful place to stay in Historic Beaufort, and they were right about that part. The water views are lovely and it is convenient to downtown. However, I was disappointed by the service. It lacked the warm, friendly feel of most upscale B&Bs and when we had an issue with the bed being broken in our room (literally fell down on one side), it was never addressed. Not only could the owner/manager not be bothered to come up to talk to us about it, they didn't even follow up with us later to recognize the issue. For $300+ per room, you would think that having a functional bed would be standard. We will be back to Beaufort for sure, but next time will stay at one of the other charming inns close by read more

In researching a place to stay in Beaufort for our 20th anniversary I by chance first called Anchorage 1770 (A1770), one of several options on my list. That list was rendered as folly by Luke, a young man who'd answered the call and left me feeling confident in A1770 as being pretty much what we were looking for so we booked room 403 immediately for four nights in late April. With Covid cautions and restrictions for well over a year by then we were all that more excited about a getaway and we chose Beaufort because we'd visited the town during every journey into the low country over the years as we would variably lodge in Charleston, Savanna or such. One cumulative effect of our travels down there was that we always raved about our day trips to Beaufort more than the stays in other coastal SC towns and often discussed it as a place we'd potentially move to - we love everything about Beaufort! We found A1770 to be more than we expected with an awesome team of folks so well delivering on aspects of service, food, and in daily refreshing of our room. Luke and Savanna are standouts in that I not only that I remember their names but because they gave all they encountered 110% and did so with the all roo rare, sincere enthusiasm that betrays a superior personal ethic but also stood in evidence of a healthy, nurturing team environment. Having met so many lovely, engaging folks also staying at A1770 names are again fleeting but owners Frank and Amy have cultivated a wonderful team with their reliable, concise but unobtrusive leadership and doing so in a spirit of defacto mentorship, they treat their team as family and the trickle down from that, from each employee was wonderful! Frank and Amy have worked wonders with the property and it is still a charming work in progress. Several locals, including shop owners expressed their appreciation for their having the vision, heart and wherewithal to undertake the renovation of this gem which had stood on the brink of demise, destruction. We found A1770 to be charming in every aspect and those few things being still in the process of restorative improvement served only to enhance the charm as further lending the experience it's unique, qualifying texture. The food, the food!! Each morning we enjoyed fresh, seemingly local (except perhaps the pineapple) and hardy fare which would have easily carried us through lunch had we not indulged ourselves at local eateries, ice cream shops and such. I alternated between over-easy eggs and the spinach omelette with wonderful link sausages, fruit bowl and authentic cheese grits truly capable of converting most dissenters. We never wanted for juice and fresh coffee refills. The Restaurant is open several nights a week and Cathy and I reserved our table for the evening of our anniversary. We are foodies and well dined I should think. We expected a really nice meal, especially in light of everything that had led up to the evening. I must say we were so mistaken!!! We ordered beef, a favored protein, and found ourselves wondering if elements of our visit, the circumstances preceding the meal had skewed our pallettes somehow (odd how spell check tried to place 'palmetto' there). We were frankly flabbergasted and I'm not one to so openly flabber my gast! I can't even begin to describe the meal, could never do it justice but both Cathy and I were laughingly confounded as we sat there over thinking whether or not we'd been eating the finest meal placed before us. We sampled one another's fare finding welcome confirmation and closure in determining that we'd just enjoyed our finest meal to date! It would be easy to expand on any point or detail here but I'm not a blogger, my influencing might potentially be regarded as my best friend's mother use to remark of me as did my mother had of him ".....bad influence". We thank all who make Anchorage 1770 what it is, we'll certainly be back and do so knowing that our experience with you on our 20th will go unsurpassed if only by virtue the occassion. read more

We didn't stay at the Inn, but did have dinner at the Ribaut Social Club. It was during restaurant week, which also was the week of the Hurricane Florence furor. The weather was not bad, all week, but that didn't stop Beaufort from boarding up. We were so happy that RSC was open for dinner. We had the place to ourselves! Shame on you Beaufort, but thank you :) I mean the entire place. No guests. No fellow diners. I told the ladies working that had I known I would have come in my pajamas and run amok through the place. I had a lovely salad and shrimp and grits. My husband had the fall vegetable soup and the filet. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My husband said it was the best steak he's ever had (which he can say because at home he is the steak chef - only insulting himself). And the chocolate cake for dessert was homemade! On top of the good food, the service was top notch, but not stuffy. They were very friendly and welcoming. And they kept the place open just for us! read more

Not from the area and was looking for a nice, quiet place for spring break. There was 3 of us staying in the basement room. The beds were extremely comfortable and a working AC was perfect for the hot southern weather. However there were bugs all over the bathroom, and the toilet seat would fall on your back after sitting down. The provided soap on the shower walls was great, however not easy to use for someone with back disabilities. The main problem we had was that breakfast was said to be complimentary. Not only was it voiced upon arrival, it was stated in the printed sheet they provided every evening with warm cookies and lemon water. However we were sternly approached one morning stating that we will be getting charged for our "extra person" that we were technically paying for in the room fee. No big deal, however considering nothing was said until halfway through our stay was frustrating. The honor bar was lovely, the outdoor porches were perfect for a mid day nap, or some quality sun time. Overall, the place is worth visiting, however it's the little things that management can clean up to make the experience even better. read more
