    Dirty Walls

Dirty rooms with mold. No privacy. FALSE advertising. The photos of the rooms are beyond misleading. Privacy is non-existent. You can hear through the walls. Almost all of rooms are just modified duplexes/apartment buildings with shared entryways and balconies. We booked one room for almost $500 a night for a romantic evening and they tried to put us in a cheaper room thinking we would not notice. It was damp, moldy and I found a bug in the room. Once I complained that it did not match our reservation, they suddenly told us about an alleged A/C issue and tried to put us in a "better room". The furniture was damaged and the shower was moldy in that room and in NO way was this comparable to the reservation we made a month prior. Park passes, breakfast and bicycle rentals are "complimentary" but yet they charge you $18 a day resort fee to have access. I do not recommend staying here at all.

Dirty floor, filthy area rug, moldy bathroom.

We stayed in a pet friendly room that wasn't fit for my dogs let alone humans. Room #15 of The Female Benevolent House. Black mold was all through the bathroom, including the blinds. Floor boards were loose and filthy all through the room. Our dog spilled a little water from her dish and when I wiped the floor the towel was black, you will see it in the photos. Room service was non existent. Front desk customer service was poor. Emails were requested more than once for our room confirmation as well as an invoice upon our departure, they were never received. I have been calling the front desk all afternoon to request the emails again and there is no one there to answer the phone. I assume there are some nice rooms, according to the website pictures, and according to a few nice reviews but I will not recommend this "Boutique Hotel" to anyone and I hate to give it even one star.

Great location, good service , and they have modern room and traditional room. We did asked for the modern room but realized that the room across from our room was treated for mold so we asked them to move us to a different room and they didn't have any modern room available so we stayed at the traditional room instead which was not as big as the modern room. But they did try to accommodate us since it was our anniversary and gave us complimentary wine and voucher to stay for another night for next year. We'll be back.

This is one of the best inns I've ever stayed inn. It is a beautiful pink Victorian structure with its own little white cottages dotted around the property encompassing a city block as it grows. We stayed in one of the duplex structures because we brought a dog w us. It was absolutely well appointed and huge w antique furniture, beautiful hardwood floors, enormous bathroom w marble tiled shower and a separate jazzuci tub. I marveled at how well thought out the appointments in the room and inn in general were, I never needed for anything from the furnished robes to the fridge w shutter doors and mini kitchen sink area. The best part was it was a last minute reservation on a 4th of July holiday and the cost was exceptionally low. It over exceeded my expectations! The staff at the inn are super friendly and know hospitality is a great asset to have. They don't disappoint. The inn is located very close to the water and very convenient to all the things a person would want, such as shopping, restaurants and museums; very walkable. I have never been to Beaufort before but w the charm of this small city filled with old plantation style homes all over, old oak trees and hanging moss its a stunner. Probably why so many films have been here such as The Big Chill, Prince of Tides and approx 9 more in some of these circa 1700 yr old homes especially along Bay St off the marshland and water ways. Lots to do here in this historic city and I for one can't wait to come back again!

Decided to book a last minute trip to Beaufort and this was such a perfect stay for our little getaway weekend! Pebbles helped us with accommodations and was very kind and made sure we were taken care of. We had some issues with the remote that they quickly helped us resolve. We loved our little porch view and sitting outside in the evenings. Great little quiet spot. Right next to downtown. Super easy to walk around town! Will definitely be back again soon!

This hotel was wonderful. They made me feel so welcome! Patricia at reception went above and beyond. Customer service was so personalized and you felt very welcome. The fire pits and s'mores are adorable and they so free tea, coffee and water as well. The room was nice and comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. Easy parking too!

My wife and I stayed at The Beaufort Inn on September 18, 2020. Upon arriving we checked in at the main building of the Inn. When we arrived at the reception desk we were greeted. The receptionist began asking us a bunch of information that was already entered online. She said that not all of the information was received from the website. The main building was clean. Once checked in we were taken to the front porch and the receptionist pointed out the building that we were staying in. It was across the street and was called the Greyhound Flats. The receptionist also pointed out where the gate was for the entrance of the parking lot. The parking lot was located in between the main building and ours. Upon entering the parking lot I noticed that it was divided into two separate parking lots. One side for The Beaufort Inn and the other side was public parking. After parking our car we had to walk across through the public parking lot and around a small wall (which provided a divider between the room and the parking lot) to get to our room. Upon walking through the public side of the parking lot I noticed two signs that said reserved for the hotel we were booked with. It appeared that they were supposed to be for two rooms that were in the Greyhound Flats building (one of them was ours) but we were not allowed to park in the spots. The parking lot was a gravel style parking lot but was overgrown with grass and weeds in some areas. The Greyhound Flats was an old historic Greyhound bus station that was renovated to function as hotel rooms and some storefronts. My wife and I were in a hurry to get a bite to eat and then get to the Drive-in movie theater, so we just quickly grabbed our stuff and put it all in the room. We did not look around the room until we got back later that night. When we finally did, we were not satisfied at all especially after how much was spent on the room. The main door to the room was a split double door with windows on each door and had key style locks. One door had a deadbolt lock with a regular style door handle with a lock located on one of the doors. the other side of the door had the locks that went into the top of the door frame and then the bottom of the door. It appeared that the one that went into the floor was not properly working. The door would also not close properly unless you turned the door handle to close it. The room was also not cleaned properly. There was hair on the blankets, counter, and the robe. The blankets had stains on them. The toilet seat was a wood seat that was painted white and had scuffs in it so you could see past the paint. The toilet and floors were dirty. There was visible dust on items. The window coverings on the door were taped to the door to keep them close enough so people could not see into the room as they walked past the room. There was damage to the cabinetry and some of light fixtures appeared to be falling out of the ceiling. The kitchenette area appeared to be rundown as well. The cable TV was also not working properly. There was a channel guide with a bunch of channel listings and only a small number of channels worked. Even the binder with information was dirty and falling apart. We checked out via the phone in the morning becaue we just wanted to get out of there. It would have not been good if we went inside to check out with everything that was wrong with the room. My wife and I were very mad and had to calm down. Especially after paying almost $300 for the room alone not counting the pet fees. Yes, they allow pets. As we were leaving we saw the housekeeper go into our room to clean. The only cleaning supplies she had with her were in a small reusable shopping bag. Definitely not enough items for proper cleaning. Especially with the Corona Virus pandemic going on. When my wife contacted the Inn about our stay, she sent them some photos. We were not offered any refund but they did offer us a free night stay to give them another chance. They also said that they spoke to their cleaning staff about the condition of the room. If we do give them a second chance I will post an update.

This is a quant place on the outside and seems really nice. However our room cleaning was horrible. She never took the trash out. There was a ROACH, yes a ROACH on the floor dead when we arrived and it was never cleaned up. And when the cleaner did put towels in she just left them on the bed and didnt clean the bathroom...HORRIBLE. I will never stay here again Photos are if roach and overrun trash

The bedroom section of our suite. The suite also has a large living room and bath. A very romantic place to stay.

Wow! This place is amazing! We took a chance on Hotwire.com snd I feel as if we won the lottery! A beautiful historic Inn. So romantic. Full service check in she personally showed us where to park, the coffee room with coffees, teas, bottled water PLUS they had just put out S'more sticks with personal bags containing chocolate marshmallows and graham crackers fire pits in the back court yard. She escorted us to what we thought would be our room but turned out to be a beautiful romantic suite.

Tiffany, the manager on duty, was pleasant during check-in; however, it was a bit odd to see her wearing a Taco Bell jacket behind the front desk, which didn't feel very professional. Our room was spacious, but unfortunately the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was very high, sagged in the middle, and felt almost like sleeping in a hammock. We were woken up multiple times throughout the night because of it. Housekeeping also missed the mark--there were only two bath towels in the bathroom, nothing else. The tissue box was empty except for the decorative tissue "flower," and the towel holder was broken off the wall. The common areas were also lacking. The guest laundry was out of order. One of the two elevators - out of order. The lobby had two empty refrigerators and an empty snack shelf that appeared to be intended for guest purchases. Despite signage stating the hotel is 100% smoke-free, the third-floor hallway smelled of cigarettes. While picking up extra towels, another guest opened their door and a heavy cloud of marijuana smoke poured out--so much for smoke-free. I usually love spreading positivity on Yelp, but it's hard to find many positive things to say about this stay. Overall, it was disappointing and not what I expect from a Holiday Inn. We won't stay there again.

But, in my opinion as a world traveler, its major shortcoming is the lack of easily accessible public transportation for sightseeing, dining, and shopping purposes. Although it may take a few minutes longer than expected for its drivers to show up--due to high demand, Beaufort Cab Company provides reliable and courteous service in a popular tourist destination with few transportation options. I read the reviews. One said check the fine print, you're not guaranteed the room you select. They might move you to another room, as happened to them. I found that fine print. Seemed strange, but I booked anyway. Figured the odds were low, and if they did switch rooms, it's only one night, and all the rooms looked nice. Jump to 4/18. After a long beach day, arrived at Rhett House at 7:30pm. We knew we had until 8pm to check in. The woman at the desk looked up our reservation and said it had been canceled. Shocked, we told her we did no such thing. She said we booked with the flash promo and canceled a week prior on 4/10 and we had been refunded. We told her we absolutely did not cancel. At this time I was scouring my emails for any kind of cancellation notification and my bank acct to find a refund. I found neither. No email (I checked spam), missed call, voicemail, text, or refund. The woman was kind and expressed concern, but I don't believe she apologized, and she had no explanation for us. She left a message for the owner and gave us a card for the manager, Aimee, in case we didn't hear back. She said we'd be refunded right away. She also called around to other nearby B&Bs to see if there were any openings. It was nearing 8pm, so no one was answering. Only one B&B picked up, and they were full. Unsurprising, as there was a PGA Tour stop in Hilton Head. Not what we were there for but were aware of it. So she suggested Hampton Inn on the outskirts of town, saying it was newly renovated with great water views. We booked there and headed to dinner. There was pie out for guests. She offered us slices. We did not decline, though they had to sit in the car until after dinner. We had a reservation at 8pm just down the road. This situation tainted the whole meal. We were left in shock and disappointment and had no time to change or freshen up first. At dinner, Hampton called to say their elevator was out and only had one room open on the 3rd floor. We didn't want to carry all our bags up, so we canceled and booked with the adjacent Holiday Inn, which was definitely not newly renovated nor sat on the waterfront. After dinner, we tried to make the most of Beaufort. We walked the streets a bit with our pie. We went down to the waterfront park, which I most anticipated. It was said to be lined with bench swings, which sounds romantic. We found the waterfront area was closed due to structural instability. The swings were gone, with just loose chains hanging, and the whole thing was fenced off. With that, we were like, "Let's get out of here." Our stay at Holiday was fine. It was kinda old and worn and smelled musty, but it was fine. Obviously a far cry from the quaint, beautiful room we had booked at Rhett House in historic Beaufort. Next AM we decided to head straight to Savannah instead of spending the morning in Beaufort like originally planned. We were put off by the whole town at this point, and we were already on the outskirts. So we continued onto Sav. In the next few days there, we received no call from Rhett House. I kept checking for a refund, but no luck. We didn't want to spoil any time in Sav over this, so we didn't address it further until home. We left Aimee a voicemail on 4/23 asking for our refund and an explanation. No response, so we left another VM on 4/27. Just a few minutes later, instead of calling back, she texted us. She simply said she processed the refund, we should see it within a day or two, and to have a nice day. No apology, explanation, or call-back. We did receive the refund within the next 2 days. IMO, they should've compensated us for our stay at Holiday for the hassle and the stain on our trip at no fault of our own. But I wasn't going to push it further. We got our refund. This whole experience felt sketchy, and because we never got an explanation, we're left to make our own conclusions. We believe they canceled our reservation because we bought at a discount, and they knew they could get full price from someone else because of the PGA stop. The text from the manager all but confirmed this. It felt like she knew what they did was wrong, didn't have any reasonable explanation, and didn't want to have to answer for what they did. She just dodged us. Completely unacceptable. You shouldn't offer a promo if you don't want to honor it. If there was no promo, I would've paid full price. It seems most reviewers enjoyed their rooms/stays, but I'll never know myself. I won't book here again. This was the most unprofessional experience I've had with a lodging business. Don't give them your money. But if you want to risk booking here in the near future expecting a romantic stay at a picturesque B&B, maybe look elsewhere until their construction is over. You couldn't even enter from the front when we arrived.
