I visited the Beaufort Inn with my husband on a Wednesday and Thursday night. I purchased my room through Hotels.com and thought that I may have gotten a terrible room based on booking through a third-party booking site. I almost gave the hotel less than four stars because our room was right next to an HVAC system that was on and off all night long and I had a horrible time trying to sleep with the loud unit making so much noise on and off. The bed-and-breakfast is adorable though, the grounds are fantastic and they have a nice breakfast. There are so many beautiful courtyards to sit down and eat your breakfast or get a bottle of wine and enjoy the natural beauty and historic setting. This was my third visit and I would love to have the opportunity to go back, but I definitely don't want to stay in the same room. read more

What a beautiful property. I booked The Beaufort Inn and was so happy with it. We had a lower room, not in the main house, and it was so spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was very large and had a stand alone bathtub that I took full advantage of. It overlooked the courtyard and was beautiful at night with the lights they have set around it. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and I just can't say enough about everyone I interacted with. It is located in the historic downtown and we were able to walk to some fabulous restaurants and shops. We took the mini bus tour and that too was a wonderful experience but that is a whole other review for Kelly Tours. We will be going back and I would recommend The Beaufort Inn to anyone wanting a quiet getaway. read more

As many have said... great on the outside and in common areas. However, our room assignment and tour got interesting. We booked over a month in advance, so we weren't worried about room inventory. During our arrival, the hotel representative was touting our room as new- having a ramp, large shower and its own parking... it was a disabled parking spot. We were assured staff knew no one would need this parking spot... But it was because we were booked in an ADA accessible room. We figured it out quickly after going in. Of course not a huge deal, but absolutely worth giving us a heads up as we paid quite a bit for this one night stay. It was certainly not what we were expecting. The room was on par with a hotel costing a fraction of the price- half at best. I cannot imagine we would stay here again. The whole situation felt deceptive and simply not worth the cost. read more

Traditional inn in a pretty pink house with rooms decorated with old fashioned wardrobes and flowery wallpaper. Bed rather soft and bouncy which is always an issue with older lodgings. The place can use some updating and they seem to be doing that - part of the house is under construction looking like a new deck in the works and at night also work being done to the lobby. The room we booked is a "courtyard queen studio" which has the following description on the website - "Our Courtyard Queen Studio guest rooms are ideal for business or solo travelers. These rooms feature queen beds and stand-up showers. The upper-floor studios have private verandas that overlook the semi-private Lower Courtyard, and the ground studios have lovely front patios and gardens adjacent". However our room doesn't seem to match much of the description other than it has one queen bed, as the bathroom has a small tub, and we are on the second floor but no veranda (maybe second floor is not "upper floor"?). Anyway also not sure why they are called "studios" since it's just one standard room. Anyway other than that our overall stay is comfortable enough - the ceiling fan is a good feature. Breakfast is a bit of an issue however. The inn doesn't provide breakfast so you are given a voucher to have breakfast at one of two nearby cafes. Each voucher basically only subsidizes your breakfast by $7 or $10 respectively which is not enough to include coffee or tea and depending on what food you order will not cover the full amount of that either. That came as a surprise and is not what I'd expected when breakfast is supposed to be included. I don't mind going somewhere else for breakfast but the voucher should cover a set menu that includes at the very least breakfast food and beverages. read more

Dirty rooms with mold. No privacy. FALSE advertising. The photos of the rooms are beyond misleading. Privacy is non-existent. You can hear through the walls. Almost all of rooms are just modified duplexes/apartment buildings with shared entryways and balconies. We booked one room for almost $500 a night for a romantic evening and they tried to put us in a cheaper room thinking we would not notice. It was damp, moldy and I found a bug in the room. Once I complained that it did not match our reservation, they suddenly told us about an alleged A/C issue and tried to put us in a "better room". The furniture was damaged and the shower was moldy in that room and in NO way was this comparable to the reservation we made a month prior. Park passes, breakfast and bicycle rentals are "complimentary" but yet they charge you $18 a day resort fee to have access. I do not recommend staying here at all. read more

A lovely exterior and prime location masks rooms in dire need of renovation! I was excited to stay here and upon entry everything looked great. My room, however, was unacceptable. No shampoo (had to ask twice to get it refilled), dinged up furniture, lumpy pillows, thin sheets, non-functioning TV and thermostat, broken phone. Amenities mentioned on the site such as "plush robes" were non-existent. Rooms 5 and 6 in the main inn are next to the loudest HVAC system I have ever heard, making sleep difficult. Mildew in the tub grout, peeling paint. Breakfast was weak. No water in the rooms. Never received a final invoice. I hope someone invests in improving this property as it is in a fantastic location. read more

We stayed in a pet friendly room that wasn't fit for my dogs let alone humans. Room #15 of The Female Benevolent House. Black mold was all through the bathroom, including the blinds. Floor boards were loose and filthy all through the room. Our dog spilled a little water from her dish and when I wiped the floor the towel was black, you will see it in the photos. Room service was non existent. Front desk customer service was poor. Emails were requested more than once for our room confirmation as well as an invoice upon our departure, they were never received. I have been calling the front desk all afternoon to request the emails again and there is no one there to answer the phone. I assume there are some nice rooms, according to the website pictures, and according to a few nice reviews but I will not recommend this "Boutique Hotel" to anyone and I hate to give it even one star. read more

Great location, good service , and they have modern room and traditional room. We did asked for the modern room but realized that the room across from our room was treated for mold so we asked them to move us to a different room and they didn't have any modern room available so we stayed at the traditional room instead which was not as big as the modern room. But they did try to accommodate us since it was our anniversary and gave us complimentary wine and voucher to stay for another night for next year. We'll be back. read more

This is one of the best inns I've ever stayed inn. It is a beautiful pink Victorian structure with its own little white cottages dotted around the property encompassing a city block as it grows. We stayed in one of the duplex structures because we brought a dog w us. It was absolutely well appointed and huge w antique furniture, beautiful hardwood floors, enormous bathroom w marble tiled shower and a separate jazzuci tub. I marveled at how well thought out the appointments in the room and inn in general were, I never needed for anything from the furnished robes to the fridge w shutter doors and mini kitchen sink area. The best part was it was a last minute reservation on a 4th of July holiday and the cost was exceptionally low. It over exceeded my expectations! The staff at the inn are super friendly and know hospitality is a great asset to have. They don't disappoint. The inn is located very close to the water and very convenient to all the things a person would want, such as shopping, restaurants and museums; very walkable. I have never been to Beaufort before but w the charm of this small city filled with old plantation style homes all over, old oak trees and hanging moss its a stunner. Probably why so many films have been here such as The Big Chill, Prince of Tides and approx 9 more in some of these circa 1700 yr old homes especially along Bay St off the marshland and water ways. Lots to do here in this historic city and I for one can't wait to come back again! read more

Decided to book a last minute trip to Beaufort and this was such a perfect stay for our little getaway weekend! Pebbles helped us with accommodations and was very kind and made sure we were taken care of. We had some issues with the remote that they quickly helped us resolve. I took pictures of dirty floors, an unused sanitary pad behind the toilet left by another guest, stained sofa, ripped blinds, filthy white painted door, and torn wallpaper. The Inn is old and lovely, but no safety bar in tub or mat in tub. Not very safe. The air conditioner was very noisy and whistled. The conditioning was set on one temperature and could not be changed. So cold brrr. The mattress was wonderful and the linens were so fluffy and nice. The breakfast delicious with a great variety of choices. It is in a great location. Walkable to the Main Street. Backyard seating area is delightful shaded with big old oak tress. Very welcoming. We stayed here one night in May for our anniversary. I called the night before to see if they had any availability for a one night stay since I could not book it online without booking two nights. No issues with booking one night at the last minute. We arrived and were able to check in early. We were staying in the Craven Courtyard Queen room, which was a room on the second floor overlooking Craven Street. Absolutely loved the private porch to sit out on in the rocking chairs. The room was spacious as was the bathroom! The location of this is perfect for walking downtown Beaufort and going to the waterfront park. What I also loved is that they offered a pass to Hunting Beach State Park which we utilized on the day we were checking out. Overall a beautiful property with different buildings and rooms in a great location. read more

I'm giving the Beaufort in five stars because it has such great style and feel. My room is really comfortable. It's classic. It feels like old South Carolina. The place is clean and the staff is friendly like they've known you forever. I love staying vintage hotels that are well cared for granted they are not slick, like a three or four or $500 night boutique Hotel or chain hotel but you feel like you're staying in somebody's home and in fact, it has been a boarding house back in the old days. Super easy walking distance to everything. I'll be back. The old heart pine floors are beautiful. read more

Checked in and given a great orientation for the inn as well as nearby restaurants and other points of interest. The magic stopped there. Our room was in the building immediately behind the main inn. It was upstairs with a lovely balcony. We were really looking forward to a nice dinner and then relaxing on the balcony. Upon inspection our room was filthy. There were food crumbs all over the carpet, several dead palmetto bugs under the bedside table and at least an inch of dust behind the armchairs in the room. The drapes were coated in a layer of dust. The bathroom was not clean at all. Went to front desk and found another guest already complaining about this very problem. We were offered a room downstairs and it wasn't much better. The floor was tile so at least that wasn't layered in dust. I did not read any reviews prior to booking. If I had I never would have stayed there. Numerous reviews with the same problems. The owners really need to follow up with housekeeping. The inn is overdue for a refresh and deep cleaning. We will never stay there again and have told our friends that live in Beaufort not to recommend to visitors. read more

My wife and I stayed at The Beaufort Inn on September 18, 2020. Upon arriving we checked in at the main building of the Inn. When we arrived at the reception desk we were greeted. The receptionist began asking us a bunch of information that was already entered online. She said that not all of the information was received from the website. The main building was clean. Once checked in we were taken to the front porch and the receptionist pointed out the building that we were staying in. It was across the street and was called the Greyhound Flats. The receptionist also pointed out where the gate was for the entrance of the parking lot. The parking lot was located in between the main building and ours. Upon entering the parking lot I noticed that it was divided into two separate parking lots. One side for The Beaufort Inn and the other side was public parking. After parking our car we had to walk across through the public parking lot and around a small wall (which provided a divider between the room and the parking lot) to get to our room. Upon walking through the public side of the parking lot I noticed two signs that said reserved for the hotel we were booked with. It appeared that they were supposed to be for two rooms that were in the Greyhound Flats building (one of them was ours) but we were not allowed to park in the spots. The parking lot was a gravel style parking lot but was overgrown with grass and weeds in some areas. The Greyhound Flats was an old historic Greyhound bus station that was renovated to function as hotel rooms and some storefronts. My wife and I were in a hurry to get a bite to eat and then get to the Drive-in movie theater, so we just quickly grabbed our stuff and put it all in the room. We did not look around the room until we got back later that night. When we finally did, we were not satisfied at all especially after how much was spent on the room. The main door to the room was a split double door with windows on each door and had key style locks. One door had a deadbolt lock with a regular style door handle with a lock located on one of the doors. the other side of the door had the locks that went into the top of the door frame and then the bottom of the door. It appeared that the one that went into the floor was not properly working. The door would also not close properly unless you turned the door handle to close it. The room was also not cleaned properly. There was hair on the blankets, counter, and the robe. The blankets had stains on them. The toilet seat was a wood seat that was painted white and had scuffs in it so you could see past the paint. The toilet and floors were dirty. There was visible dust on items. The window coverings on the door were taped to the door to keep them close enough so people could not see into the room as they walked past the room. There was damage to the cabinetry and some of light fixtures appeared to be falling out of the ceiling. The kitchenette area appeared to be rundown as well. The cable TV was also not working properly. There was a channel guide with a bunch of channel listings and only a small number of channels worked. Even the binder with information was dirty and falling apart. We checked out via the phone in the morning becaue we just wanted to get out of there. It would have not been good if we went inside to check out with everything that was wrong with the room. My wife and I were very mad and had to calm down. Especially after paying almost $300 for the room alone not counting the pet fees. Yes, they allow pets. As we were leaving we saw the housekeeper go into our room to clean. The only cleaning supplies she had with her were in a small reusable shopping bag. Definitely not enough items for proper cleaning. Especially with the Corona Virus pandemic going on. When my wife contacted the Inn about our stay, she sent them some photos. We were not offered any refund but they did offer us a free night stay to give them another chance. They also said that they spoke to their cleaning staff about the condition of the room. If we do give them a second chance I will post an update. read more

We stayed at the Beaufort Inn May 31st and we cancelled the next two nights later that evening. We love the charming town and history which much of the places have however, the room we stayed in Chisolm House was not clean. We took pictures and sent to the main desk via email explaining we want to check out in the morning and obtain a refund. The ceiling vents were filled with black lint around the vents and ceiling. There were at least 3 blinds that didn't work. The main entrance door was disgusting on the inside with black hand smudges and dirt all along the door as it was never cleaned. The bathroom door had hand smudges from something. The floor was sticking and nasty. The bed frame felt like it was going to come apart when on the bed. Inside the shower a handle was broken and pieces were laying by the sink? Unfortunately we stayed one night and it wasn't worth it. Some people might enjoy it with a different room. read more

I didn't stay at the Inn itself but my family and I were recently there for a wedding that took place at the Inn. The wedding was for a cousin so we were there frequently and helped with setting up and taking down. Overall my interactions with the hotel employees at the desk were negative. They always seemed highly inconvenienced by us and our requests (which were normal requests for someone having a wedding at their hotel). This was frustrating and put quite a damper on what should have been a more joyous time. The hotel itself seems clean and well cared for. It's right downtown and everything is in walking distance. They have cold waters available in the lobby room which came in handy for the heat. The bathrooms were clean and remained clean throughout the days with lots of wedding traffic in and out. That's about it. I wish the bathrooms were a little more easier accessible. If you have to leave a wedding happening in the large courtyard, it's a bit of a trek inside and up stairs to get there and it's only two stalls, which can back up during an event. The courtyard was beautiful but I do not recommend it for a summer wedding. I obviously didn't have a say in scheduling this wedding but a general rule of thumb for the low country is- don't do outdoor weddings at the hottest time of day! It's cruel to guests and we had a difficult time keeping cool. The Inn is a nice building and grounds but the rooms are incredibly over priced, the employees all seem miserable to be there, and it's not a super navigable property if you have handicapped folk. If you're going to stay in Beaufort, I'd find somewhere else. read more

This is a quant place on the outside and seems really nice. However our room cleaning was horrible. She never took the trash out. There was a ROACH, yes a ROACH on the floor dead when we arrived and it was never cleaned up. Wow! This place is amazing! We took a chance on Hotwire.com snd I feel as if we won the lottery! A beautiful historic Inn. So romantic. Full service check in she personally showed us where to park, the coffee room with coffees, teas, bottled water PLUS they had just put out S'more sticks with personal bags containing chocolate marshmallows and graham crackers fire pits in the back court yard. Great location but badly in need of updating. The exterior spaces are lovely, but maintenance is lacking. My room, on the third floor, was dirty and full of 1980s wallpaper; television guide was wrinkled and covered in coffee stains; paint (likely lead paint) peeling in the bathroom); and I hurt my foot stepping in a very large hair clip that housekeepers had left on the floor (obviously didn't even vacuum between guests). This place is such a great place. It covers an entire city block and is in walking distance of everything. The rooms are updated but still have that historic feel. The staff moved us rooms because I wanted a tub after the first night. The staff was very flexible and very nice. I felt like I was staying in the Antebellum South, taken back into time. The only thing the property needs is some type of pool or sun deck area. I would have liked to have cooled off after a hot day. read more

We had reservations to stay in a 2 bedroom suite detached from the main hotel. One of the bedrooms was fine but the other was in disrepair. Plaster coming off the walls, rotting window sills, and crooked frames. You couldn't pay me to take a bath in the tub. For the cost of $280 per night, we expect more out of a room. There were literally mushrooms growing on the front door, and there was a bathroom tile strewn in the yard outside our door. The main hotel was nice but our suite was in major need of a renovation. The front desk offered a $50 discount, but we declined and booked a room at City Loft a block over for just $200. read more

Very disappointed as I emailed prior to share what we wanted out of the weekend. The staff hides behind "historic" which really means dirty, not updated and uncomfortable. I wish I had taken a picture under the bed as it was dusty and had trash, the shower was rusty and the floors had so much dirt in the tile it couldn't be cleaned. The bed has not been replaced since the updates made in 2006 and it was impossible to sleep in them especially with cardboard sheets. I would not return. read more

Not my idea of breakfast. Here's the Ridiculous part: The Breakfast voucher they give you is $7.00 It doesn't even cover the Coffee and Egg bagel. So Disappointing. Cheapskate place. Check in was easy the staff very nice! Our room was very disappointing floors never swept, blow dryer didn't work , half roll of toilet paper left on roll apparently that was used by previous guest. One small trash can with no extra trash bag. I found hair and a pill of some sort next to coffee maker .Toilet seat was completely wrong size it was a round toilet seat on an oval toilet leaving the rest of the toilet exposed. Dirt and dust everywhere. Even the do not disturb tag for door was dirty and ripped. I know the building is old but that doesn't mean I should expect a dirty room. read more

We stayed at The Beaufort Inn the 3 day weekend of MLK Jr. holiday weekend, 2021. It was a great place to stay and an incredible weekend in spite of being in the middle of COVID 19, we felt safe by taking all measures possible. We got to stay in the newly refurbished section of the B&B and was very clean and private. The shower was incredible and the bed was comfortable, loved the balcony too. Being mid January it got cool in the evening and the outdoor heaters in the common area were right on time. We brought our bikes and jumped on the Spanish Moss Trail, Beaufort Rail Trail and Magnolia Line Trail right from the B&B. We managed to ride over 30 miles in one day and even stopped along the way for lunch and beverages from a convenience store that we ate and drank at one of the benches along one of the many creeks that we pedaled by. Love this area, not too crowded, incredible food and views and the beach... Hunting Island State Park is amazing and plenty of trails to ride and hike there as well - the B&B actually provided a day pass so we didn't have to pay any day fees. We cant wait to go back and I will be ecstatic to be able to stay at the Beaufort Inn again and hopefully even get the same room next time! We also appreciated the voucher system for the local breakfasts - it was nice to try something different each of the 3 mornings we stayed there. If the Beaufort Inn did the "in-house traditional B&B breakfast" it may have gotten monotonous by the third morning. We loved the variety. All staff that we dealt with was nice and helpful. read more

Visited the 'grounds' for a wedding. My intersections with the staff were less than ideal - they were rude and stuffy - maybe because they knew I wasn't a 'paying' guest?? The rooms I saw were not luxury by any stretch. Maybe our family members chose the 'cheaper' ones, but I'm really glad we did AirBnB and didn't fork out all that money for a regular room. Also will just note that there was no free parking offered to wedding guests. We also were rebuffed when asked if we could pay for parking that night. So we walked the 7 blocks from our AirBnB. Doubt the wedding hosts were aware of this guest experience.... read more

Had very high expectations for this place, but expectations didn't meet reality. Arrived to check in and the wait was ridiculous for a small property. When we finally got to our room, the air didn't work. Called the front desk for over 45 minutes and finally got someone to call back after leaving a "not so nice" message. Waited another 45 minutes for someone to arrive in an attempt to fix the air. Very disappointed that they didn't offer to move us immediately, instead of asking us to wait to see if the fix would work. Finally after another 30 minutes of waiting, we called and asked to be moved to a room with working air. No apologies were offered and staff acted like we were the problem each time we interacted with them. When we found out a motel is their sister property, it explained the level of service received. Very quiet too. They made us dinner reservations for my birthday, got tickets fo the carriage tour/ride. Gave us free passes to the State Park. Had chilled water around the clock. The rugs look like they have never been vacuumed or deep cleaned the walls in the room have all kinds of stains and marks. The bathroom has mold growing in the shower area.
