Room 311 at Anchorage 2 in North Myrtle Beach, SC
    Olivia M.

The rooms are beautiful and the outside is too and it has a good view of the ocean but this specific room me and my family got ruined our vacation... So its room 311 the room is beautiful it has 2 floors 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. But the AC was messed up. So we were supposed to stay at the room for a week but we only stayed 5 days because on the 4th day around 11 PM it got extremely hot like the heat was rising every minute. No matter how much we turned the air down it stayed in the 80° section. The next day it was in the 90° area so me and my mom and sister went to the pool they have to cool off then we went to the ocean and while we were there my dad was at the room with these guys to work on the AC. They said that the AC couldnt be fixed and that they had to fix it once in 2018 too and once the week before we were there and they didnt even tell us that on the description of the room. Therefore we left that day instead of staying because we couldnt stand the heat. Our Vacation is ruined but atleast we got 5 days in...

I don't know who would be more qualified to write a review at the Anchorage II than myself. We have been coming down to the Anchorage for 30 years. We missed a few years in there but our first stay was in 1983. Its now 2013 and we just returned from there again. Let me start with location. Its pretty much in the middle of Myrtle and North Myrtle in the "Ocean Forest" area of Myrtle Beach. You are hidden away from all the chaos Myrtle Beach. Very little traffic and close to everything. The beach is just a walk across the street. The Anchorage has a private beach access with 2 large gazebos. The atmosphere is VERY family oriented. Like i said before, my family has been coming down since i was 6 years old. I now bring my two children down every year. The layout of the condos is in the shape of a U and the pool is in the center. One thing that i find as a major bonus is that there is a lot of grassy areas to play Frisbee or whatever. Parking is never a problem and there are 2 elevators as well as wheelchair accessible ramps. There is about 50-60 units so there isn't a ton of people and some of those units are private and never rented out. The landscaping is beautiful and kept up very well. There is free wireless internet available everywhere, including the pool. The interior of the condos are excellent. Each one is privately owned and has its own decorating style. we have stayed in several different units over the years. The first two floors are 2 bedroom units with 2 full baths. The third floor has 3 bedroom / 2 Bath condos (with a 4th floor loft bedroom with its own balcony). The 3rd bedroom is like a loft. It has half walls so you can look down into the dining area (not very private). Each unit has the standard kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and living area with TV (I think most have updated LCD TV mounted on the wall). I believe most of the units have a sofa which folds out into an extra bed. The condo we stayed at had 4 LCD TVs in the family room and bedrooms. One thing to remember, you need to bring dish washing soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. Its just like moving into an apartment for a week. There's isn't a restaurant or bar located on the premises, BUT in the Forest Dunes resort (a 60 second walk away) next door has a little place to relax (they even have trivia on Thursday evenings which my family found quite fun). We have walked over there for lunch in the past and the food was pretty decent, plus they have a full bar. Lastly, the price for this condos is excellent compared to what other places charge. we have strayed from the anchorage a few times in the past and nothing in the area compares to this place. Oh, one more thing. Again this depends on the owners of the condo, but most condos have an outside locker where the owners put their own beach chairs and floatation devices (body boards, noodles, skim boards, etc) for guests to use at the beach or pool. Some units we've stayed in had their own huge beach umbrellas to use. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this place. I'll answer them the best I can.

The pool area was a standout multiple pools, a lazy river, shaded spots, and music that was fun but not overwhelming. There's also a small café downstairs with coffee and light breakfast items, a gym, a concierge desk stocked with brochures and local coupons, and an on-site spa (someone in my group went and loved it!). The beach is super clean, right out back with hotel-provided chairs/umbrellas (though I didn't reserve one myself), rinse-off stations, and clear water. Just be ready for stairs! Staff even offered to help carry my beach cart down. The balconies are non-smoking, but I did catch a bit of cigarette smell here and there from neighboring rooms. Security is solid elevators require a guest code to go up, but not to the lobby. Parking is across the street in a garage with plenty of space. The mini golf across the street is free for guests (maybe only timeshare?), but it's run-down and has some safety concerns like loose nails. There are also kid-friendly activities like scavenger hunts and poolside bingo with prizes. However, nothing much is within walking distance you'll need to drive for food, shopping, and attractions. One consistent issue was the water temp in the room never quite hot or cold, just lukewarm. That said, the water pressure was fantastic. Would absolutely stay again. Just know some perks (like passes to a waterpark and go-karts) may only be included with timeshare bookings.

My favorite activities during…read moreour visit were: floating in ocean waves, listening to great live music while enjoying a drink at the on-site Ocean Annie's Beach Bar, and visiting the nearby watepark where entry tickets were included in our resort reservation. Let's start with the amazing amenities: OCEAN ANNIE'S BEACH BAR - greative live music EVERY day starting at 1pm, running into the evening. Extensive cocktail menu with good prices. Many drinks not listed on menu, including my favorite of the week: Miami Vice (Pina colada with strawberrt margarita mix drizzled around the sides). NOTE: You can get FREE WATER at bar from cooler on counter. There is live music everyday. The afternoon band on most days (when we were here) is a 3 guy set (guitar, bass, drums) that are super talented and super funny. LAZY RIVER - located just behind the bar is a lazy river. It isn't large but is a relaxing place to hang out and ride the current round and round and round and round (tubes are provided) RIVER CITY CAFE - located behind the outdoor pool. They offer amazing selection of delicous burgers. I enjoyed the peanut butter bacon burger. It may sound different but it was amazing! INDOOR AND OUTDOOR POOLS - For those that want to dip in the water without getting sandy. They were popular. MYRTLE WAVES WATER PARK ASMISSION - best water park that I have ever visited! Our reservation included free admission tickets for as many days as we wanted. Normal admission price without a coupon is $49/day. They have the biggest towering water slides that I have ever enjoyed! The Night Rider is my favorite, which is a fully enclosed slide.wheee you ride in the dark on a tube. They also have a HUGE lazy river which runs around center of park. We often used the river to get from one side of park to another for a ride. We enjoyed the large wave pool. They have rides and water features for all ages toddler to adult. It's about an 18min drive from Ocean Annie's. NIGHTCLUB - they have a great nightub on 1st floor with live music. We didn't enjoy it because we had our teenage daughter with us who wasn't allowed entry, plus we just can't stay up late as the young crowd anymore. BEACH PIER is located within walking distance. However once you get there you must pay $2 per person to walk on it and thus earn right to buy food/ice cream. We were offended by such a scam so they didn't get our money. Most people, including ourselves, don't carry money while walking beach so the lier is useless. Now let's discuss the 2-star hotel: CLEAN - Impressed how ean they keep it. They constantly sweep the halls where people track in sand from the beach. SMELLY HALLS - smells a little like rotten-trash mixed with some type of carpet cleaning powder that tries to cover up the smell. This made our faces cringe many times, but luckily our room didn't smell. OUTDATED ROOM NEEDING REPAIRS - ugly 80's window drapes. Cabinet door broken off in bathroom. Hot water not working in kitchenette sink. Water knobs turn backwards on sinks. TV missing the remote. MARSH VIEW ROOMS are misleading. We didn't pay for the ocean view , but we hardly got a marsh view. We looked directly into the parking structure. I would get same room again as I don't need ocean view, however I think they should be more honest about the view. ROOM SERVICE was virtually non existent. They never cleaned room or made beds during 8 night stay. Honestly that is ok with me except for fact that we had to ask for towels every day. They would take old towels in bag if we set them outside room but they never replenished them without us asking. UNRELIABLE INTERNET - the wifi clearly can't support the load of all the guests. It works well in the morning until about 8am (when many start waking up and opening their devices). After that you can connect with strong signal but good luck getting Internet. It's not even enough bandwidth for email when you get any bandwidth at all. We asked at the desk and they acknowledged the issue (they know) but they had no solution. Verizon data signal is very weak and we could only access from our balcony. I needed to work a little while here so I placed phone in balcony and tethered internet but even then my bandwidth was not good enough for a good quality video call into a Teams meeting that I hosted. IN SUMMARY, I would come again. It is priced right for what it is. While the resort is outdated, the amenities are grand. You can live a good beach life without breaking the bank.

After you see behind the nice location and listed things to do, you will find out there are seriously lacking things to bring this a 4 or 5 star rating. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and modern, with an incredible view of the beach and a well-stocked kitchen with practically everything you could possibly need including a blender, toaster, coffee maker, and ice maker in the freezer. It also included all of the pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and utensils you could use, which was great for us since we cooked multiple meals during our stay. An unexpected but wonderful surprise was the paperback novels in the drawer, which I enjoyed reading on the 2 beautiful balconies. There was seating and sleeping for up to 10 people and the space felt light and airy with colorful seaside decor. The beds were comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was almost a luxury. The pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers were all great and the location couldn't be beat - only a mile away from shopping and less than 5 miles away from any type of cuisine you could imagine to eat when dining out. Now the not so good - the breakfast buffet does not have very many options and is grossly overpriced for what it offers. Yes, there is an omelet / waffle station, but it was very difficult to get the attention of the person doing the cooking and he seemed irritated when asked to actually make something. The maintenance person called us to tell us that the master shower had an issue with a broken handheld shower hose, which he would fix while we were here, but we didn't see him after that during our 5 day stay because the part had to be ordered and it was a holiday weekend. The kitchen is well stocked with everything except cleaning supplies and there is no housekeeping, so we had to buy our own dishwashing liquid to do dishes, paper towels, and scrubbies to be able to hand wash dishes. They only provided a single kitchen trash bag and a single dishwasher pod as well as one kitchen washrage and one kitchen towel. When we called down to the front desk to have someone bring us more, it took 2 phone calls before someone came and dropped them off. All in all, the stay was relaxing and wonderful with only minor inconveniences. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay on the beach with all of the comforts of home. The owners of this condo are to be commended on how well they decorated and stocked it.

My cousin's father is buying a condo there. Their closing on the 30th got cancelled and they were not sure when the new date would be. I called the resort this morning to cancel and was informed that they would keep 15% of my deposit for cancelling outside of the two weeks. This may have been in the fine print somewhere, but keeping approximately $108.00 for absolutely nothing is borderline theft. I have no choice but to cancel due to the pushed closing date. I have stayed all over the United States in 4- and 5-star resorts. Never have I encountered a policy like this. Rest assured, when I re-book, it will not be with Island Vista Robbery Resort.
