Room 311 at Anchorage 2 in North Myrtle Beach, SC
    Olivia M.

The rooms are beautiful and the outside is too and it has a good view of the ocean but this specific room me and my family got ruined our vacation... So its room 311 the room is beautiful it has 2 floors 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. But the AC was messed up. So we were supposed to stay at the room for a week but we only stayed 5 days because on the 4th day around 11 PM it got extremely hot like the heat was rising every minute. No matter how much we turned the air down it stayed in the 80° section. The next day it was in the 90° area so me and my mom and sister went to the pool they have to cool off then we went to the ocean and while we were there my dad was at the room with these guys to work on the AC. They said that the AC couldnt be fixed and that they had to fix it once in 2018 too and once the week before we were there and they didnt even tell us that on the description of the room. Therefore we left that day instead of staying because we couldnt stand the heat. Our Vacation is ruined but atleast we got 5 days in...

I don't know who would be more qualified to write a review at the Anchorage II than myself. We have been coming down to the Anchorage for 30 years. We missed a few years in there but our first stay was in 1983. Its now 2013 and we just returned from there again. Let me start with location. Its pretty much in the middle of Myrtle and North Myrtle in the "Ocean Forest" area of Myrtle Beach. You are hidden away from all the chaos Myrtle Beach. Very little traffic and close to everything. The beach is just a walk across the street. The Anchorage has a private beach access with 2 large gazebos. The atmosphere is VERY family oriented. Like i said before, my family has been coming down since i was 6 years old. I now bring my two children down every year. The layout of the condos is in the shape of a U and the pool is in the center. One thing that i find as a major bonus is that there is a lot of grassy areas to play Frisbee or whatever. Parking is never a problem and there are 2 elevators as well as wheelchair accessible ramps. There is about 50-60 units so there isn't a ton of people and some of those units are private and never rented out. The landscaping is beautiful and kept up very well. There is free wireless internet available everywhere, including the pool. The interior of the condos are excellent. Each one is privately owned and has its own decorating style. we have stayed in several different units over the years. The first two floors are 2 bedroom units with 2 full baths. The third floor has 3 bedroom / 2 Bath condos (with a 4th floor loft bedroom with its own balcony). The 3rd bedroom is like a loft. It has half walls so you can look down into the dining area (not very private). Each unit has the standard kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and living area with TV (I think most have updated LCD TV mounted on the wall). I believe most of the units have a sofa which folds out into an extra bed. The condo we stayed at had 4 LCD TVs in the family room and bedrooms. One thing to remember, you need to bring dish washing soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. Its just like moving into an apartment for a week. There's isn't a restaurant or bar located on the premises, BUT in the Forest Dunes resort (a 60 second walk away) next door has a little place to relax (they even have trivia on Thursday evenings which my family found quite fun). We have walked over there for lunch in the past and the food was pretty decent, plus they have a full bar. Lastly, the price for this condos is excellent compared to what other places charge. we have strayed from the anchorage a few times in the past and nothing in the area compares to this place. Oh, one more thing. Again this depends on the owners of the condo, but most condos have an outside locker where the owners put their own beach chairs and floatation devices (body boards, noodles, skim boards, etc) for guests to use at the beach or pool. Some units we've stayed in had their own huge beach umbrellas to use. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this place. I'll answer them the best I can.

The property is located on the beach but surrounded by plenty of restaurants and just a minute drive away from the shopping outlets. Check-in was a breeze and of course, you have to encounter the dreaded timeshare "owner update" speech when picking up your parking pass, but I declined despite the push of 15,000 points or dinner certificates as well all know it's never just a 60-minute update... However, I politely declined again as I travel for work quite a bit and accrue my share of hotel points and airline miles... Anywho, I reserved a 1 bedroom deluxe through the timeshare site and I ended up in the South Tower, 14th floor, and in a nicely sized oceanview room. Loved the hardwood floors, modern decor, full kitchen w/coffee maker, blender, and dining/cookware, washer/dryer, nice comfy king bed and the roomy stand-alone shower. The indoor and outdoor pools were nice along with the easy beach access. The weather was very nice and going this time of year was great as it wasn't too crowded due summer break not starting yet, so it was very peaceful and relaxing. I'm sure they called my room several times to get me attend the timeshare owner update, but I just disconnected the phone line from both phones to have a nice and peaceful stay. Check-out was just as easy and they printed me an invoice to show no charges (my first time ever receiving one as an owner ever), but no big deal... Overall, I had a great stay here and look forward to booking another stay here soon.

(We refused that offer because they said we had to buy more points, Sea Watch said that was not correct.) After 90 minutes of BS we got up to leave as we had a tee time to get to. They offered to take up the conversation when we got home. So, I set it up with Jake provided he'd send me three specific pieces of info. He agreed. The day came and he neither sent the info nor called. He contacted me a week later and apologized so I foolishly gave him two more dates to call. He said he'd confirm the day. Those two days came and went. No confirmation, no counteroffer, no info, no call, no text. If you are asked to sit down for anything, refuse. Refuse as many times as it takes, and it will take quite a few. Trust quotient is Zero.

First off, for the price of this joint, pool towels should be provided other than having to scan your room key to get them out of a bin (only one bin at one end, annoying) and claiming a "chip" is inside each towel or you will be charged. Okaay, like anyone is gonna steal those? Doubt it and A 'chip'?? Alrighty, still trying to figure that one out. Some security guy rolled up one night asking us to turn music down in the hot tub at 9:45 pm, when we actually had NO music at All because someone had complained about loud music (btw, hot tubs and pools close at 11 pm), He then apologized twice, and said he didn't hear any music either. Did we check into a beach resort or a retirement community here??

Upon entering the room, it did not appear to be properly cleaned. The carpet was old, worn, and dingy, giving the entire room a dated and neglected appearance. The furnishings and technology were equally outdated. The air conditioning unit looked more like something you would find in a roadside motel than in a resort hotel, and I was surprised to find a DVD player in the room in 2026. Even the lamps and other room amenities felt old and overdue for replacement. Basic hospitality touches were missing as well. There was no complimentary bottled water provided in the room, and room service was poor. Despite arriving with two large suitcases, no bellhop assistance was offered. What was most disappointing was the customer service. When I approached the front desk with concerns about my room, Andy showed little interest in understanding the issues I was experiencing. Rather than listening to my concerns or attempting to find a solution, he immediately stated that there were no other rooms available without making any apparent effort to check for alternatives. I left feeling dismissed rather than valued as a guest. Overall, this property appears outdated, poorly maintained, and lacking in customer service. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend Island Vista to others visiting Myrtle Beach. This version reads like a credible review that will carry more weight with management and future travelers.
